We came here for dinner over the weekend; were a little unsure what to expect since it is not your typical sushi restaurant. But both my wife and I were pleasantly surprised, many different kinds of rolls and good quality fish. One disappointing thing was the green tea, which was just a tea bag placed into a pot of hot water. But, we plan to come back, a nice dining experience(will just bring our own tea next time).

Went in for lunch without high expectation since it was a quiet Monday in August. Pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. The rice on the sushi was seasoned and cooked just right. The fish to rice ratio was well balanced. 4 little squares of agedashi came with the unaju lunch bento was a nice surprised. All nicely presented. Will recommend to family and friends!

Great place for a quick tasty meal! The staff is very friendly and attentive, and it has a really great atmosphere. Two favorite sushi rolls are the spicy tuna and the sweetie mango. They just started serving alcohol, so their selection is limited(and not very good). I think they could benefit from input or suggestions for their wines.

The sushi is very fresh! It’s my favorite sushi place in Newton! They don’t have a liquor license yet but I’m sure as soon as they do more people will come. I like coming here because it is a quiet place to unwind and enjoy your meal. I recommend you try it! :) I loved the Torched Toro Maki! Yum!

Right in the center of Newton Highlands a quick hop off the Green Line great location, the restaurant is small but didn’t feel cramped. The service was attentive. The uni fried rice was well balanced with savory bit of uni and still fluffy eggs. The rice was cooked well and the vegetables still had some bite. Often fried rice can be oily but this dish was not, it was also delicately flavorful. The sushi madness was a large helping of spicy tuna roll, spicy salmon roll, and salmon and tuna sashimi. All the fish was fresh and the proper temperature. The side of cucumbers with spicy mayo wasn’t very appealing and with so much sushi on the plate I was much too full to try it. Both dishes came with Miso soup which was rich and appreciated in the cold. Solid food comfortable atmosphere, nothing was wrong but nothing jumped out on the two dishes.

I just saw Otake pop up on my Foodler last night and I was stoked. I’ve been ordering from the same places for months, so mixing it up was much welcomed. This is a purely take-out review, but the restaurant looked very charming so I wouldn’t be opposed to dining-in in the future. We ordered the Chicken Teriyaki and the Spicy Madness. The Chicken Teriyaki(or is it Teriyaki Chicken) was delicious. Steamed veggies and white rice on the side. It’s kind of hard to screw up grilling a chicken breast, so I’ll just say it was cooked perfectly. Came with miso soup. Spicy Madness was a combo of spicy tuna and salmon maki and nigiri(so 2 rolls plus 6 pieces of nigiri) and cucumber salad with spicy mayo. The nigiri was very fresh tasting. Not sure if it came with miso soup, but they gave me a second one regardless. After tax, this order came to $ 39. I think they are priced slightly lower than Gari and Aji. I was very content with 12 pieces of maki and 6 pieces of nigiri(and a small salad) for $ 22. The chicken teriyaki was $ 15 compared to $ 16 at Gari and $ 17 at Aji. End of the day, I don’t look at Japanese as an economical dinner choice no matter how you slice it. It’s a treat. I’ll definitely order from them again. Great to have a new place in my repertoire of online ordering establishments.
