Great value, quick service, best pad see ew anywhere.

As far as Thai food close to my place of work goes, this is the número uno location to suit my taste buds. It seems that they cook with brown sugar. I love that about the flavor. Prices are decent. They deliver. This is a perfect option If ever I am stuck with a busy schedule and can’t get away to enjoy a meal before needing to return to work. I’ve had the Pineapple Fried Rice, Spring Rolls, Thai Iced Tea, Thai Fried Rice and Tofu Pad Thai. A few things to take into consideration: –metered off street parking(if doing take out) –one of the staff members at the front counter is not so pleasant –if you eat in, the place is extremely… let’s just cozy –delivery can take up to 45 mins to an hour(my job is only 5 minutes away) I still like it here and suggest it to anyone that enjoys good Thai food.

I came here for lunch today and was pleasantly surprised at how good the food was! The restaurant itself is tiny. It can probably seat 15 people max, and I saw plenty of people coming in for takeout. My staple Thai dish is always drunken noodle, so I had to try it here too. It’s one of the best drunken noodles I’ve had in a while! Very flavorful and especially spicy! I had to order a Thai iced tea to balance out the spice a bit. The dish also comes with a variety of vegetables, including celery, which I don’t see in most drunken noodle dishes at other Thai restaurants. The spice level made me slow down more since I’m usually a quick eater! For all their menu items, you can order the lunch or dinner portion. Prices are extremely affordable. My drunken noodle with chicken was only $ 7.50 for a very generous portion. If I lived closer, I would definitely be back more often. Also note that the credit card minimum is $ 10.

I think the food here is really good! We have only gotten take-out and my only(tiny) complaint is that the wide noodles stick together too much so some of the sauce doesn’t coat them. Flavor is great and I have enjoyed some of their curries, Pad See Ew(sp?), crystal noodles, etc. I have also tried the Thai spring rolls and gotten great Satay for the kids. Good last-minute dinner for the family. Fast cooking time if you are going to pick up…

Really tasty, fast and fresh. Try the curries or the pad Thai. Lunch prices are very reasonable too!

This is the best and my favorite Thai place to eat. The food is delicious!!! It is full of flavor and spice and just perfection in my mouth. I usually get the Pad Thai Bangkok Style, which i prefer over the regular because it has more spice. I also get the Tom Yum Noodle soup and its just so delicious. The service isn’t always the best because they’re so busy and the language barrier i believe, so I always order online and I order through eat 24, so most of the times I always get a discount! When I have ordered it online I have no problem, my food is always on time, and freshly made! I wish I can have coconut café every day! :)

I placed an order for lunch and was called a half hour later and informed they were too busy and had to cancel my order. Very unprofessional.

Live a mile away from here and this place is usually where my family orders delivery from. Our regular consists of the seafood salad, pad thai, and one of the curries(they are all good!). We love the salad, we have never seen it anywhere else. Big chunks of salmon, scallops, and calamari, mixed with a regular spring mix drizzled with a yummy vinegar sauce. The pad thai is a bit on the sweet sauce but is easily balanced out with some spice. They also have really good tom kha soup and the service here is really nice! Seriously some of the sweetest people, and they know my order, so it’s one of those situations where I go in, take a seat, give the sweet lady a smile, and she already knows what I want. Good prices, yummy food, great people!

This is a tiny but great place. One of our favorite restaurants in Newton. The space is tiny, but we mostly succeeded in getting one of the very few tables and always dined in. The ambiance is like a small family restaurant that is mostly geared to take out. Cute, but nothing extraordinary. The food is very tasty. My favorite is the Crispy duck, but the Tom Kha soup, the Pad Thai, and really everything else that we have eaten there has been very good. The service is friendly, but a bit slow, and this place definitely seems more geared to take out.

Best Thai food in Newton. The Pad See You sets the standard for me – never had it better anywhere else. So tasty! I used to get it with beef but now I get it with tofu; both are delicious. A unique dish at Coconut Café is the Prik King Country Style curry. It’s different from most Thai curries because it doesn’t have coconut milk. A bit spicy, totally tasty. And of course the Pad Thai is awesome if you want to keep it simple. I recently tried the Bangkok Style Black Bean sauce stir fry for the first time — can’t believe I’d never tried it before after going to Coconut for so many years.

Absolutely terrible. Soggy thai rolls that were grossly overpriced and my shrimp were bad!!. I called for a refund(delivery) and received a measly 15% off, which didn’t even cover the appetizer. Please don’t waste your time/money. There have to better places in Newton!

Been a fan of Coconut Café for a long time. I love the yellow chicken curry, the drunken noodles and pad thai. They’re always friendly and quick to get the food ready. It’s a small place, but great to eat in or we usually do take out.

I am fan of the coconut mango curry. It is delicious, plain and simple. My husband and son have go-to dishes as well– pad thai and pad see ew. We mostly get take out although we ate in once and in both cases the staff are always very friendly. I only wish that it were easier to find parking out front in order to pick up if you are in a hurry(which I usually am). The spaces in front are usually full as there are two other popular restaurants on that block. Parking across the street is also hard to come by, and crossing the street can be dicey.

I love thai food and this place is very average. I’ve had the following dishes. Roti– deep fried triangles– kind of like scallion pancakes but more dry. The sauce only comes with one piece of beef :( Tod Man(shrimp cake) — Beware. This is not what it seems. The cakes are soft and spongy. Not deep fried. Super oily and they did NOT taste good. They were inedible. Never again. Beef Satay– good! Peanut sauce is yummy Pad thai– taste was okay but the noodles were way too squishy– overcooked Red Curry– Average. Not great, not terrible. Decent amount of meat/veggies. Chilli and Garlic Stir fry– this is good, would get it again Kai Sub Kraplao– excellent, ground chicken and peppers with holy basil. Good flavor. I’ve only been here out of convenience when I’m in Newton. I would prefer Cambridge Thai any day! Service was good and when I’ve picked up food it’s been ready in less than 8 minutes which is pretty crazy.

I’ve had– Drunken Noodles: Really good, and quite spicy. Perhaps the best I’ve had in the area. Tom Yum: Fine, but could be better. Bangkok Fresh Rolls: Serviceable. I like peanut sauce anywhere. Scallion Pancake: Good, but nothing out of the ordinary. Once got two orders of this because all of the following seemed less appealing– Massaman Curry: I keep trying to like curries with coconut, and so far the only success I’ve had is with the blackboard menu at Thai North. Not here. Couldn’t really taste much more than the sweetness and the coconut. some of their stir fries: Again, sweetness overpowered all other flavors. Crispy Pad Thai Noodles Bangkok Style: still sweet, but flavorful enough beyond that. I would like to try their«Special Thai Dishes» at some point, but the rest of the menu is not too worthwhile.

The food was good, definitely fresh. My girlfriend wasn’t sure what tamarind tasted like and asked the waitress. After explaining she still was a bit hesitant. The waitress actually said to her, «it’s in the dictionary, you can look it up.» I was shocked to say the least. The ONLY reason I do not give them 1 star is because the food was pretty good.

I tried this place two years ago and remember getting takeout. When I got home, I realized the rice smelled like fart and it was terrible. I vowed never to come back. Fast forward two years later, we just ordered delivery. It took much longer than the estimated time, so minus stars on that. The fried chicken wings were amazing though: very crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside with great flavor. They were also big wings, not cheap fatty small ones. The Pad See Yew though was disappointing. It tasted like something an amateur made for the first time. The beef tasted old and overcooked, and the noodles were dry. Although the wings were good, the entrée sucked. I won’t be ordering from here again.

Nested at the edge of Newton Center is Coconut Café, a small but mighty Thai restaurant which serves up some delicious and affordable Thai fare. The place doesn’t seat too many people, probably about fifteen but they do seem to be doing a lot of takeout business. We went there over the weekend to get some lunch and were not disappointed. Appetizers will run you between $ 5.25 and $ 7.75 and range from edamame to spring rolls and even coconut pancakes which I had never seen before but sound awesome. We stuck with some veggie rolls($ 5.75) and they were great. Crisp, fresh and the sauce worked very well. Then came the entrees, including the Pineapple and Peppers Stir-fry I ordered and my wife’s Panang Curry. While I can’t recall the price on those, they were both affordable and the portion was just right. Actually now that I think about it, the lunch menu is cheaper than the dinner one there and we ended up eating for about $ 26 which was great value, especially considering the quality. The place was clean, the staff friendly and the whole ordeal took about 40 minutes. I’m delighted to see this place do well and look forward to returning in the future, whether it be at this location or their Wellesley one.
