Alright, I feel the need to address these reviews. True Dr. Sheff deals with special needs patients. True his office is a hold over from the 70s. True he does not have private rooms. True his office is hard to find. However, he is a great dentist! I have a difficult preschooler, who was turned down by another dentist. Dr. Sheff was patient and caring and now my son no longer fears the dentist. The hygienist and support staff are also great. All are long term employees. All are caring. My husband, a physician insists that we go to Dr. Sheff. Dr. Sheff is quickly moving towards retirement so new patients may have a hard time getting in, but he is a really great dentist.

The location is hard to find. The office is old and rundown. There are multiple exam chairs in the same room —- I chose Dr. Sheff as he was an available Pediatric Dentist via my dental plan. I could not find any relevant reviews without paying a fee — Apparently I should of paid and done more home work. When we arrived at the office, we filled out the forms and waited to see Dr. Sheff. We come to find out, Dr Sheff will not be seeing us. Apparently, he’s not available during the time we actually booked the appointment. Apparently, the receptionist was suppose to tell us this prior to the exam — SHEDIDN’T. This was strange! I was under the assumption that Dr. Sheff, not a second year DDS was about to check my son. We decided to take a chance and move forward with the exam. I was able to sit in the exam room while the examination proceeded. Oddly, there are 2 exam chairs side by side in the same room. No divider. There is NO privacy. This seems extremely odd and I was slightly taken aback. I didn’t say anything and let them continue… the exam ended without any issues. This was son’s first trip to the dentist. They did not explain how to brush. They did not provide a demonstration on proper techniques. They did give us a cheap toothbrush to go. I was extremely disappointed and would not recommend this practice to anyone. Zero stars.

I don’t usually write online reviews, but my experience was so absurd, I feel I have to. I had a dental appointment for my 1-year-old. We entered the drab waiting room, with 70’s era furniture and fixtures. Granted, there was a pile of new-ish looking toys in one corner, but otherwise the place looked like it hadn’t been updated in several decades. It looked very third world. Who knows what kind of dental equipment we would see in the actual exam room. Meanwhile, there’s an older gentleman standing in the middle of the room with a rambunctious dog tethered to the kid’s table. As he jumps up on my daughter and I(dog lovers both), I suddenly notice that the dog had pooped on the carpet. The man nonchalantly asks the receptionist for a bag, picks up the poop and walks into the«employees only» room. Could this man have been Dr. Sheff? Is it possible the dog routinely poops(and/or pees??) on the carpet I am about to let my daughter crawl around on? No one seemed concerned enough to try to disinfect, or even apologize. I’m no germaphobe, and I love dogs, but this was unacceptable. The whole place seemed unprofessional and outdated. I told the receptionist that I was uncomfortable and left. I can’t comment on Dr. Sheff’s services — who knows, he may be brilliant — but if you choose to go to this dentist, I’d recommend keeping your kids off the floor!

We went to this dentist because he was close to where we live and was on our dental plan. Clearly, we should have done more research than that. Turns out he is primarily a dentist for special needs kids and has VERY cramped office quarters, which was extremely uncomfortable. We received a clean bill of health, and then a few WEEKS later, the office called back and said she needed a filling. Fishy, huh? When I requested the xrays to take to another dentist for a second opinion, the secretary didn’t even flinch as she stated that there is a $ 36 «duplication fee.» So in other words, I could either irradiate my daughter again unnecessarily at another office, or I could cough up the money to a dentist’s office that I already feel is snookering me. Am DEFINITELY not going back here.
