Club Salon & Spa At Newtown

Best deep tissue massage with Joan @ Urban Allure located in the Newtown Athletic Club. Happy with the new spa membership program looking forward to my monthly massage @ a reduced rate.

Really, I’m not that high maintenance so hold the attitude Mrs!
This review is for the therapeutic sports massage. I did not try the nails, waxing, eyebrows, mud, aromatherapy experiences, and other voodoo.
The Spa is located in the basement Newtown Athletic Club, where I work out, or at least claim to work out. Bonus, much better than a heavily lavendered door front with french rococo furnishings.
The massage was exactly what I needed. Good stretching, pressure. And it is obvious that Will has been trained to work with athletes.
So the massage gets four stars!
What was bad… checking, check out, attitude, disorganization, bitchiness.
I arrive 15 minutes early. «Oh, just sit over there,» she gestures with a flick of the wrist to the gym café mobbed with tweens. No one has any idea how to locate the therapist 25 minutes later and 10 minutes late for my relaxing massage. I finally get help from a manager type from the salon who has this vapid look like «what is he doing here». Need to lose the attitude Mrs.
After the massage, again, no one knows what I’m supposed to pay. Another managerial type finally shakes her wrist in the direction of the front desk, «uh, like, pay over at the front desk.» Uh sorry to exasperate you in my spa experience. I make eye contact with her but instead of thanking me for the business, she barks at my therapist and says «I need to talk to you.» Uh oh, he needs to screen his appointments better.
The whole attitude from the management is «who cares» but not in a mellow zen way.
And it’s 10 more bucks than advertised.
I’m going to ask the therapist if he works at a different gym since the Club Salon clearly doesn’t need my business.
