I grew up around here and so have been to Bakersville many times — just never Unilocaled it before! The pastries are a bit on the sweet side for me, but are a very good representation of what Korean pastries are like. They have a lot of traditional ones but also some surprises — I love the ones that have a layer of your typical Western, flour pastry but also an inner layer of sticky rice flour pastry, with a red bean core. The patbingsoo(red bean and fruit) is delicious and the serving bowl is enormous! I tend to order red bean on the side, but that’s because I really, really love it. Worth checking out if you’re in the area.

They are a nice place to sit and relax, do homework but what bugs me is that they don’t have lactose free and soy free milk. I got a green tea latte and decided to get skim milk since they only had soy milk as their substitute for lactose free and I’m allergic to that. Now my tummy hurts :/also they don’t label their items well. I had something with nuts even though it doesn’t say the bread contained nuts and I’m allergic to peanuts. This could be a really bad idea for peanut allergic people, especially those with more severe allergies than mine. The cashier lady was really nice and told me she’d let her manager know. I want to give this place 4 stars for their hospitality but they are pricey for their drinks/cakes(4.50 for cake parfait) not to mention charge extra for whip cream(extra 50 cents)! It doesn’t even fluff and get on your straw to eat, it dissolves!!! Lol but seriously! I enjoy this place and just wish I could fully support it and help those people with allergies like mine be able to enjoy coffee shops too.

I love bubble tea so I was super happy to have found a place so close to my new apartment. I asked the gal at the register what her favorite non-fruity option was, and she steered me toward the most yummy of all coconut bubble teas! They load it up with tapioca, too. I can’t wait to come back and try some pastries!

Near by Woori Village which is a plus when meeting friends for Korean bbq. Free parking, decent to smaller end sized lot. I was not greeted when walking into the shop… could also be because the workers were teenie-boppers goofing around the counter not noticing there were customers present. I also received attitude when paying at the cash register. Did I do something wrong? Large spacious area with chairs, couches, tables for larger groups to sit down together and enjoy some sweet treats. The selection of Korean baked goods were not as impressive as other Korean bakeries or Chinese bakeries I have been to. I did like the option of trying a sample of certain baked goods that I have not tried before(the samples are in plastic to-go containers inside of the baskets the actual baked goods for purchase are sitting in). SUGGESTION: Perhaps have some sort of clamp or toothpick for customers to use to get a sample… I can be a germ-o-phobe at times. Bingsoo portions are good. However my friend ordered a green tea pot bingsoo and got a scoop of vanilla ice cream with the fruit hidden underneath the large mountain of ice and green tea matcha syrup poured on top. Were they out of green tea ice cream? It was not exactly what we were expecting.

About a 2 – 2.5: Bakersville is a Korean bakery located in Niles, off of Golf. This place is definitely a hot spot to gather after church, but mostly for older folks: P They have a large selection of Korean breads and pastries, coffee/tea beverages, as well as pot bing soo. My mom and I came here to share a pot bing soo after picking up some groceries in the area. The fruit pot bing soo, while looking quite massive, was mostly, if not all, shaved ice that was not flavored(with either the milk or the green tea). The fruit used was the typical cocktail fruit from a can, but not even the whole amount(so the portion was a little sad). There were some red bean, but not as much, as it seemed as if only a couple of spoonfuls were used. We were both extremely disappointed, as it was more of an icy snow treat, as the fruit, the condensed milk, and the red bean were all very scarce! Service was a hit-or-miss, and with the difficult parking situation, I won’t be back! +pot bing soo = 99% ice T___T +small lot for parking

Their cakes are good. Light n fluffy n not too sweet. Just the way I like it. Tried their fruit one n their green tea. Liked them both. You can really taste the green tea flavor in the green tea one! Bubble teas n frozen yogurt are kids faves. Took my 7 year old godson here n he LOVES frozen yogurt. Been to all of them… pink berry, red mango etc. He likes his froyo plain with NOTOPPINGS! N he said this place has the best he’s ever had!

Bakersville is a tasty Korean bakery with the best cake — Green Tea flavor. I ordered a green tea cake for a special occasion and the lady on the phone who took my order got the dates wrong. The bakery called to let me know to pick up the cake, but then realized that it was the wrong date. The owner was nice enough to recognize the mistake and offered to make me another one for the correct date — the next day. Not only do they make tasty cakes and patbingsoo, but they seem to be very accommodating and nice about mistakes that happen as well.

I think the staff working at the time made a difference for me! really enjoyed today’s visit. we picked out mochi(sticky rice cakes usually with a sweet filling, often red bean), mini cream puffs, and a coconut milk tea. music skewed ‘young’, R&B, and pop, and all in English — I was kind of hoping for a little K-pop :)

Boba milk tea and bing soo is what I very much enjoyed here. Delicious! If I hadn’t just stuffed myself across the street at Woori Village Korean BBQ, I probably would have picked up a baked good or two. Did not know what bing soo was but thoroughly enjoyed it! Would go back for this refreshing sweetness.

If you’re going to advertise free wifi. it needs to be at least usable. This is borderline dial-up.

Wow 3.5 stars? I am surprised! First of all, This may be one of the only places, less than 3 that i have given 5 stars to that are located north of chicago. Sucha hidden gem! This is a coffed shop bakery place, light and fun music, clean, amazing baked goods, yummy cakes, iced cream, shaved ice, coffee, tea, bubble tea. Clean bathroom that actually smells decent. Plenty of seating, fast, very friendly and very efficient staff. What is there not to like? I am 30 min away if no traffic and i am contemplating coming here just for their ambiance and food/drinks. I’ve only known of two other bakeries one in chinatown and one in argyle and i got food poisoning at one and the people are much more rude. This is as good as it gets for not actually going into the city. I highly recommend, such a great hangout place!

I come here because it is the closest Korean bakery to me. They have a variety of my favorites(Mocha cream, peanut butter cream, red bean, etc.), but there isn’t anything special about the the taste. It is pretty standard and the price is about $ 1.50 a piece. My favorite item to get here is their Patbingsoo(shaved ice). I highly recommend the coffee or the green tea flavored one. Split it amongst 3 – 4 friends because it is HUGE. Try to avoid their coffee because it isn’t that great for the price(tastes like 7 – 11 coffee) and there are also no outlets near the seats, so don’t expect to get a lot of work done.

Excellent Korean baked goods on Golf. Love some of there baked good with the Korean sweet red bean called paht. It is just sweet enough to satisfy the sweet tooth but not overwhelming like other baked goods like a doughnut. I always grab something when I am near the area.

The fruit bingsoo here is $ 6.99, and mostly a bigger mound of shaved ice. You can have ice cream here, but no red beans unless you want it added for another $ 1. It just seemed to be no comparison to the much better quality and value at Café Namoo. Here, it was a lot of shaved ice, a couple scoops of vanilla ice cream, some cereal chips, some food coloring, and canned fruit. So far there appears to be a wide variety in bingsoo quality out there!

Apparently Bakersville’s milk tea is my friend’s favorite in Chicagoland. Better than liquid fusion? I was skeptical. But I think as far as the milk tea itself goes, I definitely agree. The regular milk tea(iced) is delicious! It’s super rich and silky(so probably not milk powder) and there are subtle chocolatey notes in the tea that make it really unique and delicious. I really enjoyed it and finished mine way too quickly, even though the tapioca was a little overcooked. I also picked up some pastries — at the end of the night there wasn’t much left, but they were pretty good. If I come back it’d probably be for bingsoo and regular milk tea For a smoothie I think my heart belongs to Liquid Fusion, where there are more options and more consistent quality tapioca. However, I’d totally hang out at Bakersville instead(and order regular milk tea) because it’s more spacious and has more seating + fewer loud suburban high school kids.

I’m gluten free now so I can’t enjoy their pastries, but four years later this place is going strong. I bought my sons each a bubble tea and I got an iced coffee. Great customer service and relaxing surroundings. Such a fun place for a treat!
