Sunshine Donut

Best donuts in the universe! I can’t even eat donuts anywhere else because if they aren’t these donuts it’s a HUGE let down. Warning. These donuts will ruin all other donut places for you. Eat at your own risk! ;) Great family that owns this shop as well! Coffee is great with all the fixings also! P. S. I send everyone here, and they have all loved it too.

Came over here around 12am and the place was closed. Says open ²⁴⁄₇. Well I guess that’s a lie. What a joke.

Great donuts but don’t believe the open ²⁴⁄₇ lie. It’s no longer open ²⁴⁄₇ and it is the most atrocious thing in the world.

On a cold and rainy night I had the idea of making a donut run so that my kids could have donuts and hot chocolate in the morning. Being that it was around 10pm (yes, I was thinking about donuts at 10pm– don’t judge me ;) my options were limited, the only place in Santa Maria where I could get donuts that late is Michelle’s Donuts but on my last two visits to Michelle’s they didn’t hardly have any donuts (go figure, a 24 hour donut shop with no donuts) luckily Unilocal lead me to Sunshine Donut. A little past 10pm I set out to get donuts. I asked my mom to accompany me since she worked at a donut/​coffee shop a LONG time ago I figured I could use her expertise. We walked in and I was taken aback by how, um, sloppy it seemed, the tables were messy but there weren’t any other patrons around so I don’t don’t how long they had been dirty :-/​There weren’t a lot of donuts to choose from which is something I expected being so late. A gentleman with a very displeased look on his face walked out of the door way where I assume they do the prep and he just stands behind the donut case and doesn’t utter a word. Are we supposed to welcome and greet him? Now, what followed was very confusing. Frowny face donut man was still just standing there so finally my mom greets him and tells him we’ll take a dozen. The man looks at my mom and says «a dozen what?» to which she replies «donuts» the man then says something that was inaudible, mom and I look at each other silent and confused. Then man then says «fancy or regular» my mom says nothing just stands there with a puzzled look on her face so the man says «bottom rows or top rows» while he points to the rows with his tongs, at which point I seem to grasp that he’s telling us if we want fancy donuts we choose from the top two rows or if we want regular donuts we choose from the bottom two rows. I’m still not sure if that’s what he was saying but that’s what I went with. I choose regular and he says which ones would we like, my mom tells him to just gave us a variety so the kids can have a choice. The man confused as to what we mean by «variety» just stands there. My mom says just mix it up. He finally fills the box with a dozen and rings us up, $ 7.99, hands us our change and turns around and walks away. Ok, are we supposed to thank him for coming in? Well, awkward exchange with the donut man aside I gotta admit that these donuts were pretty darn delicious. The old fashioned was probably my favorite. My household agreed that these were the best donuts we’ve had in a long while. We probably will be back again but next time with a little more patience.

I like doughnuts, but love croissants. This place has the best, fresh out of the oven croissants ever. I get the ham and cheese ones, I call the night before to make sure they will be ready on time and they always ensure I get what I want. Doughnuts here are just like any other place but, WOW, what a croissant!!!

I love Sunshine Doughnuts. I frequent this place a few times a week. While their yeast and glazed doughnuts are alright, their Old Fashioned, cake, and buttermilk doughnuts are some of the best that I have had. They are now open ²⁴⁄₇ everyday and they are always fast and friendly despite their limited skills with the English language.

Daughter and I like to do donut runs on the weekends and saw this had a good review, so we checked it out. Not very good. Donut holes were wet, crème filled donut had a weird aftertaste and my daughter didn’t even finish her chocolate covered sprinkle and tossed it in the garbage. The tables were dirty and nobody was there. I think their problem is that they’re open 24/​7, creating less than fresh goods.

Personally, donuts are not my thing. However! I have 4 kids and they are definitely their thing! We have been to lots of donut shops. That being said, I was underwhelmed with the selection and store in general on each occasion we came here. The store is… hmmm…how should I put this… dirty. That should have been our first clue. Ew. We went in the morning (early) on each visit and there was hardly anything to choose from. None of those fancy donuts with bacon from other pictures that’s for sure! And … sadly, they tasted blah. Better off getting pastries at Starbucks which is in the same shopping center.

I haven’t been to an actual donut shop in a while, Krispy Kreme is so mainstream I don’t consider it an actual donut shop, Sunshine Donut is a small mom and pop shop located in the shopping center right behind the Taco Bell. It was my first time coming here tonight, I was laying in bed playing with my Unilocal App when I got the urge to look up Donuts, when I mentioned what I was doing to my fiancé he told me «why look them up, why not go to the 24hr donut shop down the street?» I had to reconfirm this 24 hrs business, did they really stay open 24 hours? Because it was 11pm and I was craving an old fashion chocolate frosted donut. So the deal was that if they were open and if they had bear claws (for John) we would go. Sure enough on the second ring a man answered and sure enough at 11pm they had Bear Claws. So shortly thereafter we were on our way. There was no one else there when we arrived but after I walked in another customer walked in right after us. The man that took my call was the man that helped us. He was very friendly and helpful especially for the late hour we were there. Usually people are asleep at the time, especially in a small town like Nipomo. We ended up getting a dozen donuts because the man working, who was probably also the owner convinced us it was a better deal to buy one more and get three free. We left the donut shop very happy and excited to work our way through the donuts. The donuts themselves were very tasty and fresh. I’m not a big Bear Claw fan but John’s Bear claw was delicious! We will definitely be returning here!

Great donut shop! Always fresh and always good quick service. I take the kids here about once per month to pickup donuts. Never disappointed!!!

NOT WORTH THE TIME! I am so disappointed in this place. Obviously the owners need to find a new night cook cuz that guy was a JERK! NO LONGER 24/​7, closed 12 – 5 M-​Th and still (on the same notice) claiming to be ²⁴⁄₇.
Anyway, TWICE I have dealt with this jerk, I stop in for a maple bar. The only donut I like. He’s out and responds all pissy like I should have known and when I ask when he will have some– he just throws his arms up and acts like I am being a hassle.
3 minutes (MAYBE) it would have taken for this ungrateful employee to drop a bar and make one fresh. HE WAS STIRRING THE MAPLE TOPPING when I came in! AND the oil was bubbling in the back. I said «when do you think you will have some» and he responded even more pissed off saying «I don’t know, maybe 1am or midnight!» Seriously? Your out of bars altogether and your not making any while I see you can?!?
WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE & the donuts have been totally dry and not special for a few months now. I will NOT be recommending this place to all my clients and friends anymore. Any old joe-​schmo donut shop would be preferred over this place.

Great price and delicious donuts! They are very friendly too. I love the Apple fritters, and the coffee is good.

They are opened ²⁴⁄₇. They always have fresh donuts. I’ve never gotten crappy donuts from here, like EVER.

Love the delicious donuts. They are open ²⁴⁄₇ and have a fresh selection no matter the time of day or night. I like the maple bacon bars yum!

My boyfriend and I LOVE sunshine donuts. We r frequent customers and have consistently noticed the donut shops night worker is not friendly and lazy. We usually come in after 10pm and occasionally we will go in by 830 when the nice lady is working! Tonight was one of the saddest nights… We went in… Saw empty trays where donuts should be. I wanted donut holes. When I looked there were «donut holes» 14 of them fried together. With no glaze on them. Upset now that I can’t get any. So I go with my normal glaze cuz they r they best and NO glaze donuts not 1! So when we ask the guy if more r coming out or when he says no… That’s all I have. My boyfriend always says hi when sometimes how r u when we go in and be rarley replies back. The sugar donuts we got weren’t bomb like normal… They were crispy. We LOVE sunshine. Just not the night worker… Its the ONLY business open 24hrs in Nipomo which is awesome and its also never extremely busy at night… Get some donuts out! Say Hi. Bye. Anything.

These are pretty good donuts. When I was just ordering a few donuts the owner decided to add a few more to make the dozen so it would be cheaper which it have to admit was nice of her. However it would of been really great if she would have told me so that we could of at least picked other than her throwing in her least sellers. Which ended up in the trash anyway. Donuts were still a little greasy.

Yes, amazingly fresh, sinfully delicious donuts ²⁴⁄₇. My favorite are the cinnamon rolls.

Delicious stuff! Can’t wait to go back! Bacon on the donuts… Wow… Gotta try that one! Soooo many things to try… I like the hours… 24÷7… Can’t beat that!

I love this place. It’s been 5 years since I first went here, and I’ve kept going back!
Two things make this donut shop great: the delicious donuts, and GREAT customer service!
The shop owner is really nice, although he does not speak a lot of English, you can tell he tries and he is very kind. If you’re a regular customer he will sometimes offer a free donut with your order. Lately I haven’t seen him much at the front, but I still keep going for the delicious donuts.
They always have a good selection/​variety, and all of them are fresh and made that day, not like other places where the donuts have been sitting there for days. There is even the «healthier» alternative of donuts without sugar or any type of frosting (those are my parents favorites).
I think they even accept special orders. For instance one time I went there was a young woman that asked the man working if he could add extra extra melted chocolate on her donut, and he did very nicely. It was like a chocolate lava donut, and she looked like she really enjoyed that! I thought it was nice of the man to do that.
Also, some of their iced coffees taste very similar to Starbucks’, for half the price!
