Amazing food! Might be the worst staff ever. Messed up our order and our check and then proceeded to help other tables before fixing our issues.

Nice atmosphere. Upstairs is a bar area with a nice outside patio. Extensive tap selection to choose from. Food was good but nothing over the top. Ribs and pulled pork were good but sliced brisket was tough and chewey.

The server was awesome! We waited about 45min for our food. It was not busy. There was only two tables downstairs. When we got our food the ribs were cold. We sent them back and the second ones were hot. No manager visit. After taking so long the food should have been hot. This is the second visit I had where the food was subpar.

I had the burnt ends sandwich and it was mostly fat and not very tender. I didn’t even eat half of it or my cold French fries. When I told the waiter he informed the manager who didn’t care enough to come ask me what was wrong, just offered me a free desert, that I didn’t take. Was charged full price. I don’t recommend. P. s. The country/pop music was annoying and didn’t fit in with a bbq joint. It sounded like Disney music hell.

Good food, crappy as hell service. I would give Belmont 3 stars, but they earned that extra star with a fine beer selection, primarily local, including breweries such as Coaelcanth. Had the Hog Heaven sandwich and it was very tasty. All the ingredients worked pretty well together. If I went back, I’d definitely make sure there’s more than one waitress on the floor.

I really liked this place! My sister and I stopped in cause we had heard great things. Let me start by saying that our waitress was super friendly and helpful! I got the BBQ Crownburger and the special mac & cheese! If y’all want to eat good go here! As a North Carolinian good BBQ is hard to find but this place has it, defiantly worth the stop.

I came looking for some good down south ribs and I got some average tasting ribs. The service was just ok. I ordered a regular order and realized it wasn’t enough food so I asked to upgrade to the large and they gave me an ENTIRELYDIFFERENTMOREMEATY order of ribs. Why am I bothered? Im irritated that my original order wasn’t as meaty? Consistency is important. Parking was pretty tough. I would not recommend this place unless you are seriously craving BBQ.

This use to be one of my favorite places. I’ve been going here for years. However the last year or so has been awful. Service is always the worst! You will wait forever to even get greeted by your server and then forget them checking on you! And this is during slow lunches! No excuses! My last time here was just the worst! We sat waiting on two people to arrive. We ordered the jalapeños as an appetizer. 20 minutes later our other guest showed up and also ordered the same app. I asked our server if the first app had been put in since its been awhile and she lied to us and said yes. Well 10 minutes later she brought both apps at the same time. The others ordered the triple combo meals including beer can chicken, ribs, and brisket. I simply ordered just brisket. The others received their meals and I sat waiting another 20 minutes to receive mine. The others were almost done eating so i barely ate before boxing the rest. The waitress simply said«I’m not sure what’s wrong with the kitchen.» There was no apology. And not to mention she never even checked on us except when she brought my meal. This service is typical of my last experiences. I emailed them and no response from management. The food was good this time but I’m giving a one star because it’s not always. Last time my bacon wrapped jalapeños were fried to hard that the bacon was burnt and there was no cream cheese in the middle as it all came out in the fryer. The ribs in the past have been dried and hard to eat. This was my first time eating the brisket but it too was slightly tough. The Mac n cheese though is still delicious. Overall if you eat here expect horrible service every time. The food is hit or miss. Sometimes great and sometimes horrible. 50⁄50

Went for a drink and some good food. Belmont never lets me down! I just go the bbq nachos. They were soooo good. Big enough to feed two who are eating it as their meal. The pulled pork was delicious. You have the option of doing pork or chicken. I would recommend the pork just bc it is a smokehouse after all. They also have a pretty decent beer selection.

Absolutely terrible. We literally waited for 20 5 minutes to get service… And then it’s took them extra 10 minutes to get us water. We had two separate waitresses because they did not have anything organized. The waitress did not want to help us at all and literally didn’t help us out at all that someone else came and took her stop. We saw several other customers leaving because they did not even get a menu… I was there for 2 ½ hours. Never coming back.

Let me start off by saying that the fries were what made me go on a 4 star and not 5. But I’ll get to that. Great vibe — bit underground, tucked in behind yorgo’s bagels. Walking in from the back, it’ll take you directly to the second floor, right after you pass their patio section and their covered«patio» smoking area with several tables. First thing we saw walking in was the bar, long and fully stocked, and a couple pool tables. We decided to go downstairs for the booths/tables section. Same vibe. Staff was super friendly and not too pushy, they came back once or twice to make sure we were all okay but that was it, which we thought was great as we never felt rushed or like we were being interrupted. But our glasses were always full, so no worries on slow or bad service! Now for the food — altogether we tried the 50⁄50 burger, the crownburger and the rib basket. Everything was phenomenal — except for the fries… They were too soggy and seemed warm rather than hot and just made. Yeah. I appreciate their idea of putting the fries under the ribs as it gives them the bbq flavor as well, but even the fries that came with the burgers were soggy and not that great overall. Maybe try the house cut fries instead? I just can’t get over it. Luckily, the ribs and burgers were astounding so that absolutely made up for the fries. And when they say rib basket comes with 4 ribs — don’t believe them — I had at least 6. Score!

Came on Tuesday this time around 5:20 pm. Say upstairs with my husband and a friend. We found seating and all seemed fine until we got the menu from a waitress in her pajamas, she wasn’t wearing a bra either, very unprofessional looking and I thought I was too casual and under dressed after a day of moving and packing up our place. We really just wanted to go for a few beers and food and have a good time. No silverware was present, they came later, no biggie. First off 2⁄3 of us asked for like 6 different beers from their menu before they said they actually had that in stock! Don’t trouble the customers management should either stock inventory or update their beer menu, Ridiculous how much time was spent looking for the beer and then for the bartender to come back and suggest a more pricier beer because they were out, not ok! My husband and his friend decided to go for the all you can eat ribs as recommended and first round looked great(half rack, 3 bones) with two sides. This is now what really pushed me to give one star, Waitress did not return and we definitely finished our meal within 10 min, no sign of her. Oh wait, she’s sitting on the stage talking to her coworkers like they’re a bunch of 12 year old gossip queens, not okay in the workplace. Comes back asks if they were done, they did all you can eat because they were hungry and definitely a half rack is not the price they even charge for the AYCE option. They asked for more ribs(maybe staff is trained to convince customers they should be done, UNACCEPTABLE). Brings them a second piece, without any sides on the smallest plate ever, okay ignore it. Now they’re asking for one last piece(3 half racks) that’s about when you got your money’s worth, a small burned and chewy piece of meat doesn’t look anything like before comes out my husband laughs as its not really ribs or edible. I’m frustrated for him even though my meal was so good and I didn’t have ribs in so close to calling a manager but we dealt just felt awkward with the vibes of the entire staff we didn’t want to deal with Management. We told another waitress that started to serve our table that this wasn’t good and they would like another normal rack of ribs she said sorry and didn’t hesitate which was why I think my husband was ok with staying a little longer. For meals and two beers each our bill came to about $ 89 on which everyone felt full but our experience and the lack of good service we don’t even need great, just good ol decent service without dirty looks and neglect would be nice. There doesn’t even need to be a uniform but how does a manager allow staff to look and appear the way they do. You can’t tell who works there from the guests. I won’t be visiting here again and it’s a disappointment because a few friends of mine always recommend this spot and they too will be in complete awe once I tell them about our experience today. Just Bad. Smokey bones has amazing service and will be worth the drive for those who want respect & decent service.

This was my second time here. The first time was before I took Unilocal as seriously as I do now so and I didn’t take any pictures of our delicious food. So here I am, round two, with a review and pics to add! Our first time here was what really sold us, and to be honest the second time around we ordered the exact same thing, and were just as happy! I’m just going to talk about the food here, because that’s really all that needs to be talked about. I could care less if this place was found only in the deepest pits of hell, the trip would be worth it.(Oh! And btw, its not! Its in a nice area with plenty parking-dang it I said I wasn’t going to talk about anything other than the food! –_-) So we originally came here because someone, somewhere, said that this place had SMOKED wings. I feel like smoked wings might be an uncommon item because I don’t think I’ve ever had smoked wings before. And if I had, they must not have been anything to write home about, because these smoked wings are THEBEST!(no really, I have dreams about them). They are smoked to perfection while still keeping the flavor and juice of the wings incased in the skin. These wings come with your choice of blue cheese or ranch and you MUST get the blue cheese!!! I remember for months after I ate here the first time my sister and I were still talking about how amazing the blue cheese was and how it was, hands down, the best we had ever had! This stuff HAS to be made in house! Okay, so onto the meals. My first time here I wanted a little bit of everything. Some sort of BBQ sampler platter if you will. So I ordered the combo platter of *Choose 3*. I got the Beer Can Chicken, the Pulled Pork, and the Ribs. This comes with your choice of two sides. I got tots and seasonable veggies. The tater tots are AMAZING! Like, ugh! I don’t know what they do to them but really they are damn good! I have had tater tots from many restaurants and they usually taste like they were pre frozen, but these are great! Must be that amazing oil they use. Who knows. Veggies were spot on too! Both times! My first time it was squash and zucchini and this time it was asparagus. The asparagus was fresh and I could really taste the flavor. It wasn’t cooked so hard it was like eating strings of mush. which it what its like at many restaurants. These almost tasted, steamed? They were great, that’s all I know. A meal like this also comes with,(theres moreeee!?) cornbread. This cornbread is sweet and delicious! And I don’t even like cornbread! Its true to its southern roots. Its not too dense, and not too flakey, the texture is just right(Hm, I’m starting to feel like Goldilocks here). If you like a more salty bread then you probably wont be into this style bread, but I adore it. Its like a dessert! Now, I’ll be honest. I’m not the biggest fan of BBQ, or BBQ related anything, really. I’ve had my BBQ emotions toyed with one too many times. Dry meat, slimy veggies, and rock hard cornbread. These are all to familiar terms I use when describing how my random BBQ experience was as some joe-shmo restaurant. But here?! Here at Belmont they seriously know how to provide the best style BBQ. The ribs are made with a dry rub and once they get to your table you have 6 different BBQ sauce options at your disposal. But in reality, Belmont’s BBQ is SOGOOD, you’re crazy to use any kind of sauce. I feel like Belmont is the Ruth Chris of BBQ. You shouldn’t need to smother your meat in sauce. Everything is juicy, everything tastes great, and our experience was exactly as exciting as the first time we went there. So this restaurant doesn’t seem to have its good and bad days. I like consistency, and this place has their BBQ down to a science! I refuse to go anywhere else for BBQ, or even wings. Belmont has my heart as the absolute BESTBBQ in Hampton roads!

We had a going away lunch here for some co-workers; bad choice. On the upside, the waitress was friendly and did fairly well with the orders for a group of 12, only messing up two orders. And the place had ample room for our larger party. Parking street side is very challenging as can be expected but there is a lot in the back that can handle the lunch crowd. On the down sides. The food was sort of high priced given the portion size and quality. Hush puppies… well lets just say for a BBQ joint, you have to do something other than drop a wad of cornbread flour in a frier to call it a hush puppy. The brisket sandwich was small and meat was ok, nothing spectacular. The bun… well slathering it with oil and dropping it on the grill for a minute does not hide that you bought hamburger buns at Costco. The place had the dive bar feel and given the poorer food quality, left me feeling that this would be a «keep on going» restaurant next time. There are many other options, including far better BBQ, in the area.

We came in one evening a few weeks ago after a visit to a local brewery. For a Friday night at 7pm, it was quieter than I anticipated. The restaurant is uniquely laid out. There is a downstairs dining area with a small bar, an upstairs area with a larger bar, more tables and billiards and an outdoor dining area. It seems smart to keep the downstairs area a little quieter when there are events that would pack the upstairs bar. My friends and I were seated promptly. Our server was quick to greet us and take our orders. The food arrived quickly and was decently tasty, though I wish the servings of meat were larger compared to the bread for their sandwiches. I enjoyed the Yard Bird(pulled chicken) with collards. The serving size of the collards also left a little to be desired. My dining companions ordered the Monarch(pulled pork) and a burger, which got decent reviews. I think the best part of the meal was the selection of sauces provided. Something for everyone’s tastes. They also have a good selection of beers for those that are interested. It’s a decent place and I would stop in again if prompted.

Ok, so, I have to leave this rating based on my experience, not everyone else’s at the table. If it were up to them, they’d say 5 stars… so I’m willing to go back(and order something else) and give it a second chance. We made a reservation just in case, but when we got there it wasn’t crowded at all. The hostess kind of ignored me when I said we had a reservation, though, and just seated us as a 5 top. Our server came to get our orders quickly, but we had to wait about 30 – 35 minutes on 4 people’s food. Not too bad I guess, I’m willing to wait especially if it’s good food. I ordered a burger with pork, well done, and when I cut into it(after the server walked away) it was still pink inside. Seeing as I ‘can’ eat it pink and I didn’t want to have to wait for a long time again, I just ate it anyway. My side of potato salad was awesome though, loved that. But overall the burger really just made the bun soggy and fell apart, before even putting any sauce on it. It was really hard to eat, and was definitely was not one of the better burgers I’ve had. I tried my husbands sampler plate, though, and wow, that was delicious. Next time I’ll only be getting ribs/brisket/burnt ends, because I don’t think they’re able to do the other stuff well.

Not much parking in the front but plenty of parking in the back, Belmont House of Smoke is a barbecue joint with a decent selection of local and not local beers on tap and in cans/bottles. I sat here for about four hours with my laptop, drinking a few beers and eating my way through three courses. Oy, I’m stuffed. But stuffed in a good way. Not sure what wings to go with, I let my waitress talk me into the smoked ones. Great choice, they were tasty and spicy and very meaty. Not drippy with sauce like some places, these were dry but moist. Yep, that makes no sense. But try ‘em and you’ll see what I mean. For mains, I chose the sliced beef brisket with burnt ends. The ends were good if a little saucy and the brisket was a nice«moist» cut with a thin layer of fat on the edge and perfectly cooked. I cut it into bite-sized pieces and worked my way through the six varieties of table sauce. I can’t say that any of those were particularly awesome, but the Flying Pig was probably my favorite. Yep, dessert. Bread pudding with ice cream. Very good, very sweet, most of it went back with me to the hotel. All told, a great meal with tasty foods. I’d come back to Belmont for sure!
