First, when you first come to Captains Galley setting your personal expectations is critical. If you’re coming here looking for fine dining or a Michelin star experience with gourmet food move on. If you want terrific customer service, a pleasant atmosphere, and solid food swing by. This place is obviously a spot that services the boats in the harbor and provides a nice spot for a quick bite and a beer. I typically come in here on Sunday for breakfast on my way to church. The food on the buffet is pretty standard fare. It’s solid and tasty. I’ve never ate off the menu but it appears to be standard sandwich type fare. I’ll give them a shot later and update the review. Overall, I enjoy my stops here. I know what I’m going to get and I know the service will be spot on.

Well where do I begin. It’s a great location for a restaurant and the staff couldn’t be nicer, BUT the food was terrible. We went there for breakfast after reading Unilocal reviews and everything about our meal was just bad. From burnt eggs to cut up fries used as hashbrowns to watery coffee, we didn’t enjoy anything we ordered. Even the grits were watery and bad(which how do you mess up grits?). Also, we sat inside since many people were smoking on the patio(at 9am :/) and the vibe in the restaurant was as bad as the food. You can see the cook preparing your food and overall has a real convenient store/cafeteria type feel. I get the impression this place was never meant to be a restaurant just a food stop for boat owners in the marina. We won’t be back. Go to another breakfast place in the area like Sandfiddler or Shipwreck Sally’s.

I would have never known this place served breakfast except for the guy who holds a sign on the road. I always see him every Sunday on my way to church. I normally do brunch after church but today for some reason I was quite hungry so I decided to get breakfast before going to the mass. On my way I saw the guy with the sign saying that they served s breakfast buffet and I just thought why not try them. Within the area I usually go to Surf Rider and heard nothing but good things about this place. I remember someone told me that they do cooking service for anyone who caught fresh seafood. I thought this place is a fisherman’s hang out. This is a neighborhood joint where most guest knows each other or the they come here every single day and chill out. I didn’t wanna do A’la carte today so I decided to take the buffet. Not to shabby for a less than 10 dollars where you can eat as much as you want. The breakfast consists of bacon, sausages, hash, grits, pancakes, homefries, french toast, biscuits and gravy. Although most of the ingredients was prep but it was well prepared and you can definitely feel Mama’s love in their food. There is nothing fancy here but I’m pretty sure that you’re not leaving this place with a empty stomach and unsatisfied. Aside from the buffet, they also have various dish on the menu. Some exciting sandwiches and interesting seafood. What really makes this place stand out is the stunning view of the harbour and the support and love of the people who come here most every single day. If you’re looking for an inexpensive meal after a long night of drinking and hang over this place will rock your appetite. I must also commend the terrific customer service. Its almost like dining in my Aunts house, I was so relaxed and at home. The lady who serve was very friendly and polite. She was very attentive and ensured that I was having a wonderful time and most of all enjoying the food. I have never seen anyone who give so much effort to their guest ensuring that you’ve enough food to eat and coffee to drink. What a fantastic visit indeed. I am looking forward to come back soon.

Friendly folks, great location, but grossly understaffed. We stopped in for breakfast and found the wait for service so slow that we gave up and opted for the buffet… the buffet food when available was pretty good, but they had trouble keeping most things in stock. Disappointed and unlikely to return.

We checked this place out one Sunday morning with our kids. It was very quiet, simple inexpensive breakfast. My kids are picky and they both enjoyed their food. My boyfriend loves a buffet and enjoyed the small buffet(def couldn’t beat the prices). Great place to drop in if you don’t feel like cooking breakfast and need something relatively quick!

Love the personal service! The owners came up and talked to us for a bit. The food was good, wished they had liquor though. It’s a hidden local gem.

This little place is hidden and can’t be seen from the road… except for the gent on the sidewalk with the sign pointing you to the restaurant. You park and walk past the bathrooms towards the boats and go through a little swing door and there you are. It is a small restaurant. Very simple with good hearty sandwiches at a great price and an owner who has always been polite and talkative every time I have visited. The chicken salad made me think of grandma’s with big chunks of chicken and just the right amount of mayo and seasoning. The turkey panini, pastrami, roast beef are all good choices. My other fav is the French Dip. They even have good old hotdogs. Mac and cheese on the side, chips or a salad. The waitress was always helpful when I wanted to make slight changes. In the summer it is a relaxing atmosphere on the water with boats docked nearby and people coming and going enjoying the days fare. They have daily specials. It’s a great place when your wallet is feeling a little light. 2 of use have eaten for under $ 20 and 3 of us once ate for $ 25. One small thing, the make your order when you order it. They don’t have a big bucket of chicken salad sitting around. They may have a small amount and on few occasions there was a slight wait because they were preparing it and that was just fine with me. This little place is one of my favorite summer haunts. I do not go as often in the winter time as in I like to sit outside. The inside has several tables and looks like a little sandwich shop. No bells and whistles just good sandwiches in a pleasant atmosphere.

We were on our way to our regular Sunday breakfast spot when we saw this kid holding a sign declaring a breakfast buffet so hub, who loves buffets(I don’t) did a UTurn and headed in. As previously posted, the OPEN sign brings you directly to the bathrooms, go around the building and head for the water. This a very local spot with mostly fishermen and their wives, many coming from their dew covered boats. There is plenty of outdoor seating on the covered deck. The food is cooked fresh in a very small kitchen to stock the buffet. Now, the buffet fits on a single 6 ft table but has quite few offerings for a small set-up. There are grits, eggs, meats, hash, potatoes, sausage gravy and biscuits. I’m sure I missed a few things however, there was no fruit. Service on the deck was mostly non existent, hub stacked his dirty paper plates each time he went in for more and we actually cleared the table ourselves since it was windy out and we didn’t want them flying to the ground. You should also expect to share your space with people smoking.

It’s a little odd walking up to this place, the open sign is over the entrance to the bathrooms you have to walk around back open a gate and walk across the deck to get inside. The view of the marina off the deck is great, the inside décor is ehh but who cares it’s a sandwich shoppe. It just happens to be a sandwich shop that makes a great sandwich, I had the grilled roast beef 8.99 a little high but prepared nicely with horseradish sauce, the beef was moist and tasty, the grilled peppers and onions a nice touch. The side of Mac salad choice of several different was tasty and as I was warned by the lady needed salt. The lady behind the cpunter was very nice and chatty. Since I had to add this place to Unilocal it maybe new. Will have to go back to enjoy a beer on that deck!
