Looks are deceiving with this place. Yes the store is rundown, and filled with odd items.(I once saw a box of grocery store brand pancake mix for sale there, and the large BJ size tubs of thousand island dressing). But if you get past the odd market in the front, you get the the good stuff. The selection of meats to order is the real reason to come here. I have been to Clemens several times over the years, but have never bought anything from the case. I go right to the back and speak with the butcher and he cuts exactly what I need. I order a prime rib one year, he let me chose which one looked better to me. He also have me the rib roast bone to go with it, explaining that it would be much better with it. He then tied the bone onto the roast for me since I wasn’t sure if I had any kitchen twine at home. This kind of service is what I receive every single time I come it. They also have a deli counter for hoagies, and there are homemade pies for sale in the front. On the weekends(at least during the summer) they a big smoker going outside. Brisket sandwiches made to order that are amazing! All my specialty cuts of meat come from there and I have never been disappointed, short ribs, briskets, leg of lamb. Don’t forget to check out the pictures in the back from when the butchered a bear. I imagine the hunter that snagged that was eating bear meat every day for a year!

Note: Closed Mondays(from my FB post, I’ll have to re-review after a few trips) Local fresh hanging beef(I forget the farm the guy told me it was from). Sirloin was cut to order, well actually the guy just had me come back and he cut a steak to the size I wanted. they had fresh chicken, some fresh meats, ground beef, and random other things. The place is sparse and seems rundown inside, but I was helped right away and you can’t beat asking for a sirloin then having a piece brought out and invited to select how you want it cut. Unfortunately, I cooked it medium well, broiler is faster in the new gas stove than I thought, but I was able to pull a piece off with just my fingers. It’s definitely better than the supermarket steaks! Price was high, but they have some deals on other things and huge bundles if you have a freezer.
