I have driven by North Andover Barber Shop a thousand times finally decided to check it out. Great haircut, great price and contrary to an older review it’s not«over cutting».it’s attention to detail. Very friendly staff with a relaxing old school barber shop feel. No complaints. I’ll definitely go back.

The problem of overcutting. I went there yesterday, and even after careful explanation of the cut I wanted, got a cut that was not only too short, but was overworked. Like a painting or like cooking, more energy and fuss over minutiae paradoxically most often will not result in a more detailed seeming product. In cooking, you’ll get«muddy» from the kitchen-sink approach to herb and spice experimentation, where experience teaches: sometimes less is more, let a few things really shine. Similarly goes for hair cutting: even a shorter cut when overworked will look«choppy» from too much texturing. I know. It’s counterintuitive. It would seem the more blending you do the smoother it will look, but it ain’t so. In the end, it was shorter than I asked for. Maybe this was a communication problem, but to me it doesn’t look that way. I thought I tried very hard to be clear. I had talked about scissors over hand, not comb, and finger lengths for tapering. I had also said not to cut the top, especially the crown. What I got was long bangs to give the illusion of length on the top. This presents as a case of someone not so much listening to you, but«interpreting» what they think you’re trying to say: hearing what you say, but thinking«that doesn’t make any sense, it wouldn’t „blend“ that way». Taking what you say as a spell-check suggestion«oh you must have meant…». But putting aside the length brings me to the choppiness. Even a short cut can look sleek if texturing is not overused. I feel like an intentionally«sketchy» drawing of myself.

Great Barbershop for all ages! Hard to find one that still uses a stright razor and neck shave! Keep up the good work!

Awesome barber shop, great for kids! There is actually a putting green in the shop… so we played golf, and watched TV while relaxing on the couch while we waited briefly. My son loves his shaved in design for the summer, and the relaxed atmosphere of the place will keep us coming back!
