I probably eat at Thyme 15 to 20 times a year and really like this place. Thyme’s sushi is the best that I have found in an area with multiple other good sushi places within a 5 mile radius. The Bento box’s for lunch have plenty of variety, taste great and are served quickly. Finally got around to trying the hibachi the other day. Food was good and the preparation enjoyable and fun for the family

I’m from North Andover, and if I’m eating in my own town, it’s something that’s very forced and a choice made from being lazy to drive out more than 10 minutes. But I did end up at the nicely decorated restaurant with my mom for lunch. Service was a little strange, it felt really rushed even though it was very slow that day. Literally takes your order, leaves, comes back with food without saying much, leaves, fills water, leaves, brings your check, leaves. I guess it’s better than being bothered. We ordered the lunch box and we were pretty disappointed when we had to choose between getting a salad or miso soup– every decent sushi/Japanese place gives you both! The portion was definitely smaller than other places and price was higher. Food was what I expected. So it’s your average sushi place in a town where it’s definitely NOT known for their food, or anything much in general haha. I bet their drinks are good at their bar! But I’m not a drinker so…

Ok, so the food was tasty, but typical overpriced Japanese fare. Obviously the hibachi is fun and fun for kids, the show is entertaining but a bit expensive. Also, they make you wait for a long, long, long, long, long, long time before ordering anything. I was there on a Wednesday night and wanted to order apps while waiting for our party but the hostess\waitress just wasn’t having it. It was as if she was waiting until every seat was filled before we existed, however, she turned out to be hilarious in the end. I was also surprised to see that they don’t use local lobster, what they serve is warm water lobster which isn’t as delicious.

Thyme is becoming my go-to for Japanese ever since New Tokyo in Methuen closed. Their sushi is good and the presentation is wonderful. But their hibachi plates is what makes me come back. Their food is flavored well. You can have chicken, steak, salmon, scallops, shrimp or a combination of two(extra charge). A side of white rice, fried rice or egg noodles — I prefer the noodles. It also comes with garden salad or miso soup. I’ve never actually sat down for a hibachi meal/performance but I’ll have to do it one day. Oh and they’ve updated their menus — much easier to read and includes pictures.

Food is consistently good. Prices are a tad high, especially for when you get them to cook in front of you. Fried rice is outstanding!

The food is standard for a sushi place. I haven’t tried the hibachi but you can order hibachi entrees from the regular dining room. The sushi is nothing remarkable but the price is good. All entrees come with salad and miso soup. Some decently priced lunch specials on the menu too. The service leaves a lot to be desired here. The wait staff just take orders and rush out plates as they come. I waited almost ten minutes for a new beer to arrive. You won’t be amazed and you won’t be upset either.

Ordered the beef Ramen and was very unimpressed. The meat was dry, the broth was bland and tasted like it came straight from a packet, and there weren’t many noodles. Worst of all, the relatively small soup cost me $ 15. Will definitely be avoiding their soups in the future.

Nom nom nom!!! Great lunch specials. Reasonably priced and FRESH! It’s hard to get good, fast and fresh sushi. I loved this place. My friend asked for a few upgrades in the lunch special and was met with only humble yeses and smiles. Their customer service is excellent and service was fast and efficient. Or order came out quickly and correct! Yum-O! Come here for delicious sushi and tempura. I’m sure the rest of their menu is equally as yummy.

This may just be our new favorite place for sushi! I am kind of kicking myself now for not taking photos of the beautiful presentation of everything. Will have to remember next time. We ate at the sushi bar and ordered several types of sushi, sashimi and maki rolls. Everything was perfect. My husband is very picky and he was blown away by how fresh everything was. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention how incredibly friendly the sushi chefs are! We like sitting at the sushi bar because we enjoy watching them make everything look so amazing and these guys are pros! So many good looking maki rolls passed by that we couldn’t resist ordering one more roll after we finished all our other food. I noticed some poor reviews related to the hibachi and groupons and whatnot but I don’t care for hibachi so I can’t speak to that. If you’re looking for FRESH, well made sushi, this is a great choice! It’s a great location too… In on of the newer plazas on RT114 — plenty of parking!

I’ve only tried this place twice and tonight was a bummer. The first time I had an order of noodles and the philly roll and shrimp tempura roll. I enjoyed it. Tonight I ordered the shrimp tempura dinner and I wasn’t impressed. The shrimp were good but they forgot the dipping sauce that comes with it. The best part was the seaweed salad! I also ordered noodles with my meal instead of rice for an extra $ 2 and of course they gave me white rice instead! Lastly, I ordered crab rangoon and they were terrible. They were beyond chewy as well as hard as a rock in some bites. I was so disappointed. I would’ve went back to mention their mistake but I unfortunately didn’t have time since I was on a half hour lunch break.

The place was hopping on a Friday night so service was pretty slow. Tepanaki cooking area is small and was very noisy. Our kids requested eating near the entrance and far from the noise. We had the sushi«love» boat for 4 which had a lovely spread of different rolls, negamaki and sashimi! Edamame rounded out the meal.

Came here on a Friday night with my fiancée and it was pretty busy. Service was not the best but being that it was a busy Friday night it’s understandable. As for the food, most everything lacked flavor in my opinion. For starters we ordered the spicy crab seaweed salad. First, it was not spicy whatsoever. The dish itself was ok but had way too much tempura crumbs mixed in it. It was a cold rainy evening so I thought to try the ramen. I opted for the pork ramen with soy broth. I was also craving sushi so we ordered the volcano roll and the beauty and the beast roll. The ramen looked promising. It came out with the seaweed salad which was about 5 minutes after we ordered our food. I was skeptical when it came out so fast and I was right. It had no flavor whatsoever. The pork was overcooked and tough. The noodles were mostly cooked except for one ball of noodles that was still hard. The broth was very bland. As for the sushi the presentation was ok, but that’s about all that was good. The volcano roll looked nice but all I could taste was the cream cheese. I only ordered it because it seemed to be the popular choice from photos. I have no idea why. The beauty and the beast wasn’t too bad. Nothing special. Not sure if I’d come back here. If I do I’d probably try the hibachi but i could definitely find better options for sushi.

Sushi was pretty decent. I thought the hibachi was kinda nashtie though. I literally couldn’t eat the rice it was so salty, and they couldn’t have cared less. Too bad, lesson learned

Great, quick service for a late lunch. Staff was very friendly! However I got the ramen soup and thought it was very bland which is why I took off a star.

We came here for a late lunch at the hibachi grill. It was pretty good and as the first hibachi restaurant that I’ve visited in the continental US, this will be the standard from I will judge future hibachi grills. We ordered 2 Hibachi Lunch Combinations, a Salmon /NY Steak and a Scallop /NY Steak. It was a treat to watch the cook bring out the raw ingredients. The raw NY steak looked quite good as it was bright red and marbled while the scallops were huge. As expected with a hibachi cook, he put on a little show. I thought there was a bit too much teriyaki sauce on the salmon but the other sauces with diced ginger were quite good.

Great staff and great food with the modern décor! I have been coming to thyme almost two years and recognize the dynamic menu items! The owner is always friendly and always care what you are having to make sure all is fine… just to share my 2 cents.

Was a very busy New Year’s Day evening. The place was packed. We had two seats at the bar. Service was a little slow at first but they were packed, still doesn’t take much to greet two newcomers to the bar. Seemed like 10 minutes before we were greeted. Sushi was super fresh and would go again.

Before you read the review, I would like to tell that its for the non-sushi stuff. I dint go here to eat Sushi, like the rest of others have. So, we went in for lunch and ordered the bento box. It was crappyyy! It was just plain old crap for 10.95. Meso soup I preferred instead of salad and it wasnt that tasty. I could have may be had a little vinegar water! So the bento box had four compartments and one had 3 dumplings, plain white rice, 5 pieces of sushi and deep fried shrimp and potato may be! Out of these four things the deep friend stuff and rice was crap! What am I supposed to have plain old white rice with? Soy sauce? really? the dumplings were ok and sushi was ok too. I may be had lost interest in food by the time I had tasted other stuff… total disappointment for the price.

We were lucky to get a hibachi table for just the two of us. We used a $ 15 coupon. Best hibachi mail ever. The food was fresh and yummy. I got steak and salmon and BF got chicken and shrimp. Since it was just the two of us, the chef actually combined both our meals so we each got a part of everything. The show was fun the sake poured expertly into my bf mouth. Can’t say enough it was nice romantic and flavorful. We will be back
