While I’ve never taken advantage of the free WiFi or SC information pamphlets, I do often stop here for a restroom break when traveling between Atlanta and Holden Beach, NC. The restrooms are spotlessly clean, the air dryers actually work and dry your hands fairly quickly.(Not as fast as paper towels, but a lot less mess for the cleaning staff.) Traveling east on I-20, this stop is easy off, and relatively easy on — just watch out for speeders — with plenty of parking. It’s just over two hours drive time from Atlanta.

Oh how we fail to take advantage of the great adventure in our backyard. Being from SC I thought I had covered most of the«hot spots,» but with a quick trip to the welcome center I learned that there are areas(including deals) that I’m missing out on. Angela and Marie were very knowledgeable and helpful. When asked a specific question they gave options and personal opinions. They shared a few secrets to getting a lower rate at most participating hotels, restaurants & theaters. Very personable service! When you leave GA and are heading to SC, just stop in the SC welcome center, you’ll feel right at home! Happy & safe travels

I’m always happy to see the South Carolina Welcome Center because it means I’m heading home from a business trip or visiting family and friends; it’s also my halfway point in most cases. This welcome center offers clean restrooms on the inside and out, vending machines, pamphlets for all the awesomeness that our state offers, and a friendly staff.

I am not gonna lie– not a big fan of driving through SC on I-20. I have almost died 4 times driving through thanks to awful weather and equally awful drivers– but it’s the quickest way to get to Wilmington, NC. One thing I do look forward to is the welcome center in SC. It has a great location, and tons of bathrooms and parking. The bathrooms are for the most part clean, and they have those bad ass hand dryers with the blue light on them. Just don’t put your face on the them(not that I have tried…). Another cool thing about this place is the actual location– they have trails and such that lead you to beautiful views of the Savannah River– one thing I always forget about the GA/SC border. Hell, even if you don’t have to use the restroom, come here just to check that out– you won’t be disappointed! Be careful when you merge back on the highway, it can be hectic at moments!
