My husband and I have been searching for the best breakfast chilaquiles, short of returning to Guadalajara. This morning we found them. We had great service, a flavorful breakfast, and a very warm welcome from the owner(s). A selfish part of me did not want to share this news with you. You’re lucky I wrote this review for you!

Needed a Mexican Cuisine fix as it happened to be Cinco De Mayo! Rolled in here and was seated promptly, handed menus and some salsa, which was DELICIOUS! Ordered a pork burrito and it came with beans and rice. The beans and rice I could eat a whole bucket of!!! Seriously, they blew my d! ck off… it was unreal! Then I got a hold of my burrito… WOW! It was soooo good! I will be back for sure! Service? — EXCELLENT! Food? — EXCELLENT! Value? — Cant be beat!!! Keep up the great work!

I love this place. We order it at work for lunch and they are very friendly and helpful. The food is amazing its authentic and flavorful. I almost enjoy it more than my mother in law’s(who is from mexico) cooking. I recommend this place to anyone.

According to Foursquare/Swarm, this is my 138th visit to Restaurant Tecalitlan. It’s my favorite place to eat. The service is friendly, knowledgeable, and they work hard. This joint is often jumping with people coming in for take out or eat in. I love that this restaurant is a family affair. You can often see multiple generations working together. I love the food. To the reviewer who suggested that reviewers were just friends and family writing reviews, I need to correct you. My blonde hair and blue eyes would suggest I’m not related to the people who own this establishment. I don’t associate with them in any capacity other than a business one. However, after dining here since 2011, I feel like these are my friends who gladly welcome me with open arms and warm hearts. This is home cooking at its finest. They make their own tortillas! The refried beans are the best in the area. And have you had the jalapeño green sauce? Also homemade. Today I had the sopes. They were delicious. Everyone we bring loves Teca.(Including my 85 year old mom who fought with me over the beans.) You should come. It’s good.

Awesome sauce! Seriously, the 3 I tried without cilantro(allergic) were fantastic. Especially the one made from puréed jalapeño. Husband also tried 3 others with cilantro and was equally impressed. Beans were very good, as were the enchiladas and burrito ranchero. Super friendly staff. Must try!

The tacos were a bit greasy. I tried the burrito as well and it was probably the best burrito I’ve had in this area! The burrito is 2 thumbs up. :)

Warning. I think what’s happened here is that friends and family have posted good review. The food is the worst Mexican I’ve ever had. Dry, flavorless and poor in every way. I was looking forward to a new place. It’s basically a kitchen they threw a couple of tables around and serve. 3 salsas are weird tasting. One is creamy with an overpowering garlic heart. Gosh I can still taste it in the back if my throat. All four of us ordered different things. The feedback was all the same. It was so bad it killed the evening.

This is a perfect example of how sometimes simple is sometimes just simply better. Have been here 3 times now and each time the food and service was excellent. The salsas are all fresh and their spicy warm salsa is addictive. The pork tacos are perfectly spiced and their guacamole is fresh and simply just the way it should be. Lunch specials are great also. We will be coming here often for good simple Mexican staples.

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant. I’m from NY and just moved here, plus I’m Mexican. This was a welcome find. Their food is perfect, authentic, fresh Mexican. From the appetizers to their tacos, everything is perfect. You can’t go wrong with this place.

The owner is awesome! The food is delicious. The prices are really reasonable. The homemade salsas are perfect. I mean really, easily one of the best little Mexican places around. The owner is extremely nice and she really wants to make sure you enjoy your food and have a nice time. It’s a rare find. Go here! You won’t be disappointed!

A friendly, authentic, and reasonably priced casual taqueria with a little broader menu than many. Everything fresh & flavorful, my chicken torta was nice and crusty as it should be with well seasoned chicken, fresh avocado, delicious, My wife’s veggie burrito was large but not overwhelming, equally delicious. Pico & chips a tad hot but I loved it. Will go out of my way to stop here again.

Food was amazing. We told the waitress it was our first time and she had us try the salsa and guacamole(all amazing and spicy). She then recommend what was popular(which was almost everything). My husband had chicken enchiladas– which he says was great and didn’t have the mole sauce(which he hates). I had the three taco dinner but added one. I tried 4 different ones– pork, goat, tongue and head. All were great. I would come here again anytime.

Good food at moderate prices. I had the chilies rellanos, and my wife had chicken enchiladas. Both we very good and good margaritas. Great little neighborhood restaurant.

for good authentic Mexican food this is the place. The food is regional as far as Mexican food. I think the northern region. The salsa are great, especially the green one that is made with jalapeño and garlic. Service is great if you run out of something there right there to fill it back up. Lunch service is speed. This is a hidden gem.

Simple and delicious. Great tacos and even better pico. The kids loved their food and kept talking about how much they wanted to go back. Highly recommend it if your looking for a quick easy bite. And don’t worry good beer selection and a great margarita!

This place is a hidden gem tucked away in a very easy to miss strip mall off Butterfield in North Aurora. In fact the only reason I found it was because I was daydreaming and missed my turn on to Kirk. I’m very happy I did stumble across Tecalitlan though, they have very good Mexican food and the menu has a lot of interesting, authentic choices. I recommend one of the guisado’s(spicy stewed beef or pork) or the house special birria(tender and flavorful goat). The tacos are great too, they’re really generous with the meat and the sauces and tasty. The staff is very friendly too and it seems to be family owned and operated.

This is a great little casual Mexican joint. We tried the steak, pork and chicken tacos. All where delicious and flavorful. The tortillas, pico, verde and red sauces were all freshly made. The owner/manager who served us was very friendly and personable. It was obvious that she takes a tremendous amount of pride in her family’s restaurant and it shows. My wife and I love Mexican food and frequent many Mexican restaurants, we even cook some Mexican dishes at home. We enjoyed our conversation with her about their food and we even shared some recipes. I loved the selection of Mexican beers. We’ll definitely be back.

We got lost looking for a different Unilocal recommendation, and pulled into this parking lot to turn around. «Screw it,» we said, «let’s just eat here.» I’m glad we did. The staff was supremely friendly and welcoming, service was attentive but not overbearing, and(most importantly) the food was excellent. I had the combination with a taco, tostada, and chile relleno and the wife had steak tacos. It was thumbs up all around. The pico de gallo was a real treat, too. Next time, we are totally gonna eat at this place on purpose.

Small quaint, but great food. The Pico de gailo they give with chips are excellent. I’ve been here several times and the great service and food are consistent and reasonably priced. Give them a try!

My neighbor and another friend had been telling me about this place in a strip mall a mile or so away. I had seen it and thought it was take out only, but they do have seating. We go out for Mexican about once a week and pretty much have stopped going anywhere else. This is really authentic and based on the family recipes of the owner. Some of the waitstaff are granddaughters and as friendly as they come. We like the chips and salsa, but my wife likes her sauces mild, so they bring out a red sauce that she loves. I like a little more of a kick and they have a couple of creamy green sauces with a lot of flavor and character, including one made from pureed jalapeño! Add a small side of guacamole for less than a buck! The tacos are a great lunch for us. 2 tacos each and a bottle of Coca Cola de Mexico costs less $ 10. Dinner selections are plentiful and affordable. Try the carne asada and you can’t go wrong with the burrito. It has a lunch counter atmosphere and limited bar. Authentic, affordable and muy bueno!

If you live in North Aurora or so the TV up this is the Mexican restaurant for you unlike scholle many Mexican restaurants the food is not over salt little details like the real Mexican cheese the tacos are supposed to Colby jack. Margaritas good actually have tequila in them 3 margaritas and you know you had three cocktails. Three of us had dinner with 4 margaritas unlimited chips salsa and pico de Gio $ 60

Very friendly atmosphere with some very yummy food! $ 8 for a huge platter of 3 tacos with rice and beans. They have a $ 3.50 kids menu too which is so refreshing. It’s a great value and kind of an untapped neighborhood gem. Glad to find a North Aurora eatery worth returning to.

Small, quaint place that has delicious Mexican food! The menu is pretty basic but so far we haven’t had a bad meal. The guacamole is so fresh and tasty. I had the shrimp al a diablo last night and was blown away! The shrimp were huge and the sauce had a lot of flavor followed by a great spicy heat level. The staff is always friendly, and the décor is minimal, but the food… Oh the food! We are glad they opened, since we are nearby down the street. Don’t listen to the haters, Fair prices and fresh, great tasting food which comes quickly! Give it a try.
