I try to go to this place for my first time and the y were closed, even that they announced they were open at 9:30am

The BESTEMPANADAS in the entire NYC area! Better than Chile! This restaurant creates a classic little mom & pop Chilean restaurant atmosphere you’d find in Santiago or any of the quaint beach towns in Chile, but the food is even better! The staff in incredibly friendly and the food is delicious! If it’s busy you may have to wait a little as this is truly a family-run restaurant, but it’s worth the wait. Don’t be put off by the fact that this may be labeled as a bakery. This is much more restaurant than bakery. Get the«pastel de choclo» or empanada de carne to experience classic Chilean dishes. The only problem is that I can’t tell my Chilean mother-in-law that the food is better than hers!

Summary: delicious, authentic food; nice décor & atmosphere; lovely staff! GOEATHERENOW. My spouse’s family are originally from Chile, but have been in the USA for forty-ish years. We took a day trip to north Jersey from Philadelphia so they could buy groceries and we could get some Chilean food. We just happened to stumble upon Marcela’s because some nice Chileans behind is in line at Los Andes told us about it, led us over there, and walked us in! The staff was warm and welcoming and got us anything we wanted. Totally went out of their way to make us comfortable and happy! They were very very kind – making us feel like family. The menu is in English, but the staff seems to mostly speak Spanish. I can understand a little, and speak even less… Our family ordered for me, but I think you could make do if you’re not a Spanish speaker. All the food tasted exactly how my in laws make it! And they all really enjoyed the food. All the food is made fresh. The empanadas are AMAZING. We had the typical tomato and onion salad, fried bass, mashed corn with chicken and beef, coffee, tea, and dessert. Everything was delicious. I wish we lived closer because we’d eat here all the time! We were there over two hours, ate and drank a ton, and the bill was inexpensive! I hope this place remains open because you’ve made customers for life!

Adorable Chilean café that just opened on Broadway. Bring your patience as there is only one amazing lady running the place but I assure its worth the wait!
