I’ve had two wonderful stays at this hotel. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly. The rooms are spacious, clean, and very comfortable. The showers are hot and the view of the ocean makes any morning brighter. I left my pillows by mistake and the hotel has been very helpful in getting them back to me. I highly recommend this hotel!

The worst hotel ever… we stopped and got a room here and it was terrible, the room smelled, there was mold and it had roaches crawling around and coming up through the sink drain… we went to get our money back and the lady at the front desk was very rude and refused to give us our money back. We ended up leaving and finding another hotel and went back the following morning to talk to the manager, who was unavailable but the gentleman at the front desk did refund 50.00 of the 95.00 room charge… I would never recommend this motel to anyone…

We stayed here one night on a last minute business trip, we had no reservations and this was the first place we found near our meeting the next day. When we check in we told the desk clerk we needed a smoking room, would prefer a first floor room and a king sized bed. She nodded in what we assumed to be assent but we were later to find out differently. We got our room keys and went to look for a place to eat, as it was getting late. After dinner we came back to find out that our room was on the second floor, so we decided we could live with that since we did not have too much stuff to bring up anyway. We got to our room and it had two double beds, not exactly what we had in mind but figured that it was too late to complain since we went out to dinner first. So, again we made do. The room was pretty standard by old standards. It was clear that maintenance was not high on their priority list. There were many wall repairs in the room, none of them well done. The TV was old, and the remote didn’t even remotely work. I went to get some ice when I found that the lid to the ice bucket had some black mold growing in it. Then I noticed the blood on the bathroom door, see my pics for both. OK, so next morning it’s time to take a shower and get the heck out of there. The shower control does not work properly, something inside there is clearly broken. After much adjusting and trial and error I finally got some hot water so my partner could shower. Took me even longer to adjust the temperature for my shower to make it not scalding hot. Then, to add insult to injury there was only one towel. One would think that for $ 130 /night they could spring for three towels. Aren’t most rooms occupied by couples and don’t most women want a towel for their hair? In the morning we went to check out(decided to skip their breakfast) and had to wait for a while as the lady at the desk was taking care of another customer and the man was arguing on the phone with a different customer. When it was our turn I had heard enough of his conversation on the phone to realize that any complaints that I had would fall on deaf ears. Yet I waited for our turn to tell the lady what our experience why like when she asked if everything was OK. She silently took our payment and never asked if we were satisfied, hence this review. Oh, the view of the water was nice.

Change of events led us to stay at this place during this MLK long weekend, we just needed a bed to rest, shower and spend the night to continue on our trip the following day, Staff was extremely pleasant, fulfilled our needs of a lower level room with easy access for my aged adult mom to access on her own two feet, room was very clean, bed sheets, pillows clean and comfy, cable TV ok, Wi-Fi had very good speed, view from our room was just amazing. I did not get to walk around the hotel as we arrived late just to sleep but in the am when we left at a glance it looked clean. Thanks for a pleasant stay!!!

Gross, just gross. The room had so much mold I couldn’t breathe, but most other places were full, so we were stuck. It’s was nasty dirty, to the point that we didn’t want our suit cases touching the ground. To make matters worse we paid $ 90 for this room, $ 90!

I’m comparing this Red Roof Inn to other establishments like it, not to some fine hotel. We stayed for one night in March, and from beginning to end everything went smoothly. Check-in was quick and easy, and check-out was a breeze. We chose this Red Roof Inn because it was said to be dog-friendly, and we were pleased to see that most of the floor in our room was synethetic wood, instead of carpeting(in case of a puppy accident). Everything worked in our room, and it was equipped with a decent-size fridge, a microwave, and a coffee maker. There was even a blow-dryer. I didn’t give it the white glove test, but everything seemed clean. We ended up being very pleased with the location. There are a half-dozen restaurants within a few hundred yards. I recommend the Firehouse Grill sports bar/pub across the street for some not-so-typical casual fare(and some good beers on tap). They offer a «continental breakfast» in the lobby. Here that means some bagels and danishes, a waffle-maker, coffee and juices and a couple of kid-type breakfast cereals. My wife made a waffle, and said it went smoothly. The one gripe that I had wouldn’t affect most people. Between activities when I’m staying at a place like this, I tend to leave the room and walk the grounds. There were a couple of corners of the property with junk, stolen shopping carts, etc. piled up. Some better groundskeeping would be in order. Also, the icemaker in our wing wasn’t just out of order, it appeared to be abandoned. The bottom line is that when we return to Ft Myers for an event next March, we will stay here again.

My stay at the Red Roof Inn was my first taste of Fort Myers– and if I didn’t know about the nearby beaches and typically sunny weather, I don’t think I’d ever return. Although the rate online was advertised as $ 39.99/night, when I got there, the front desk told me that the cheapest available room was $ 49.99/night. Of course this is not the end of the world, but it was frustrating since I had called the night before to be sure. The room itself wasn’t anything special– and to my greatest disappointment the WiFi didn’t work(how’s a girl supposed to Unilocal without WiFi?!), although it did have a mini-fridge which would be nice for vacationers. Perhaps the most interesting part of my stay was when I woke up the next morning with paint in my hair… where from you may ask? A two-foot circle of the ceiling’s paint had collapsed and dropped– and just happened to be right on the pillow where I slept. Dried paint was everywhere– all over the bed, the nightstand, the floor, my hair– it was such a disaster, I couldn’t help but laugh at it! Despite the paint ordeal, I looked forward to the continental breakfast from 6am-9am. I arrived shortly after 8am only to find two cereal options and cold or hot water to drink(the orange and apple juices were both out)– not the ideal situation but for $ 50, I didn’t expect much. I’ll admit there are some decent parts of the hotel– the pool and rooms facing the Caloosahatchee have a great view of the city of Fort Myers. Plus, it’s a pretty good location for those trying to visit the downtown district for relatively cheap. Each staff member I interacted with was incredibly friendly and helpful. I guess really I’d give this place a 1.5 stars – but I am a bit peeved that they only knocked $ 5 off the price of the room, despite the fact that I woke up with part of the ceiling in my hair!
