Amici tavern has delicious food, and a very friendly and attentive staff! Maggie is very bubbly and creates a fun atmosphere in the bar area.

First and last time here. Idk were to even start. Took my parents for an early dinner on a Wednesday @ 4pm. We sat as far from the bar as possible but there really isn’t any separation at all between bar and dining area which is the first problem. You can’t have clothe napkins and charge $ 12.00 for a run of the mill burger and have AC/DC blasting at 4pm! Don’t get me wrong, I LOVEAC/DC but not a 4pm on wed. In a restaurant dining room with my 75 yr old parents! The people in the bar were loud and yelling over the music. It was like a Friday night at your local watering hole. Ok, on to the service. The waiter is walking over to take our order and he’s texting while walking over to table, stops, looks up and says what can I get u. Really buddy, how about putting your phone away! Next is the menu, it’s all over the place. They have bar food and sandwiches and then some steak. It’s weird, don’t seem to specialize in any one thing. The burgers and stuff are served on Calise rolls, not my favorite. You have no other choice that I know of. We ordered steak and cheese, portobello burger and chicken sandwich and all were just average to below average. I’ve had better at a take out deli. It’s just not set up to be both a high end restaurant and a local hangout for beers and some old school rock n roll and I think that’s what they are trying to be. Maybe I’m wrong but still won’t be back, too many other good places around. Sorry.

Finally found the ribs and onion brick from The Amber restaurant here at Amici. It’s a family recipe. Both were excellent, just like I remember. Amici has a comfortable ambiance, great service and a simple, appealing menu. The other dishes that we saw coming out of the kitchen looked inviting as well. The manager, Jordan, was very friendly and helpful. For pub/steakhouse style fare, give Amici a try.

Two stars for potentials sake — more like a one star experience. Let me start by saying how much I LOVE Café Amici in Hamden.(Same owner — expected the same standard of quality and service– I was wrong). Food nor service has never been less than wonderful at the Hamden location. So good that you leave wanting to drive to Olive Garden and punch everyone eating in the face for being stupid enough to eat that garbage when this gem is right around the corner. Back to Amici Tavern. It’s a cute space. Well done interior. Very decent selection of draft beer. The food and service though… when we went by Café Amici and saw it was packed, my bf was disappointed. Not to worry! There’s another Amicis right around the corner. But… no. Unfortunately it was worlds away in quality of food and of staff. A medium rare filet minon was severely overcooked(well done) and covered with sauce with an additional side of sauce. A filet cooked correctly needs no blanket of sauce to conceal it. I’m a vegetarian and I could have cooked a better filet. It was also the fattiest filet Id ever seen. The mashed potatoes and green beans were very good. The risotto was cold, bland and the consistency of drying tapioca pudding. The risotto at Café Amici was nothing like this(risotto cake with balsamic glaze or the corn and crab risotto — both phenomenal at Café Amici). The staff — not all of them, but two or three — were highly unprofessional. There was a huddle of about three females squaking about how one of them had been disrespected and they were all feeding into it — «f this f that — I stuck my A in his face and said go ahead…» NOT at all what we expected. Finally the waitress came back over with the bill, I already had my card in my hand and she still dropped it on the table and walked away. Maybe they weren’t done discussing one of their disrespected posteriers, who knows. I do know we won’t make the mistake of avoiding a crowd at Café Amicis again. Please do not let a bad review or experience at this location turn you off from the other location though — you’d be doing yourself a huge disservice.

My drink arrived and it was the wrong drink. My meatloaf entrée was cold and dry. I could not find the waitress to send it back. Also as a large party was waiting we were served our appetizers with the meal. I would try it again though and try some other entrée options.

I visited yesterday and I can say that it is definitely a spot I’ll visit again. It was a nice day, so we sat out on their patio. The food was amazing and the service was awesome(thanks to Maria!). We got the nachos as an appetizer and like the other reviews, it was so satisfying. The reasons why I gave this place 4 out of 5 stars is because the parking is limited and the outdoor patio is situated on the street side, right next to the highway.

just had their brunch for the first time! for $ 20 you get a mimosa or juice, a breakfast entrée, a salad buffet and a Belgian waffle section, definitely worth every penny! the breakfast tacos were fabulous and my boyfriend loved his fried chicken and biscuits! service was just as great as the food! we will definitely be back!

Great local tavern with a varied menu and a good selection of beer. The wings are deep fried then grilled which is a very nice touch. The hot sauce that came with the wings was spicy and tasty. Jambalaya for the main course was served in a shallow pan, a very nice presentation, and shows good flavor throughout. Nice chunks of chicken, sausage and grilled shrimp. Great, friendly service and live music in the bar. I will definitely return.

The nachos are indeed life changing. We highly suggest them. They have this certain lightness as far as nachos go. The sauces on the nachos were AMAZING. The wait staff was super attentive. Our waitress Maggie was on point and personable. Thank you Maggie! The cob salad was great. I had it with the steak added, but the steak was REALLY seasoned with salt. My fiancé had the chicken and waffles. It was amazing. The sauce they use instead of the classic maple syrup was highly appreciated. Overall, we had a great experience and will be back again.

Exactly what we needed in North Haven… This place has great REAL food. I suggest the Nachos(not like your ordinary Nachos), the grilled romaine salad is great too. They have a good selection of beers here too. Nice to see local beers being served. Overall excellent local tavern. Great service, great food, great beers… Can’t ask for more. I’ve gone a few times now and look forward to going again.

I went for a lunch meeting with a client. The ambiance is great, it as a charming tavern feel but very tasteful. The service was friendly and quick. I had the grilled romaine salad with chicken and it was DELICIOUS. I have heard of grilled romaine before and was curious and Amici nailed it. My client had the meatloaf, and she said it was the most amazing meatloaf she has ever had. The portions are big, so plan on taking home leftovers. I love that the food is served on wood planks. You get popcorn for the table to snack on that is made fresh. The bar is nice and open and they have an outdoor patio. I will add to the review once I go for dinner, going for lunch was nice but I could not take advantage of the beer and wine selection, which is very decent.

So tonight we tried Amici Tavern. It was suggested to us by a friend. Back in the day there used to a rib house called The Ambers. They were known for 2 things… there ribs and their onion brick, not that garbage onion blossom thing. The onion brick is breaded sliced onions fried in fry basket to form the brick. Sadly, The Ambers has long been gone, until now! The Amici did the onion brick such honor, it was like I traveled back in time. The next venture to our meal was the chicken & waffles… something try everywhere I go. For awhile I had one place that couldn’t hold a torch to any other chicken & waffles I had. However, tonight The Amici put out that places torch and fired up a new one. It’s presentation alone was absolutely beautiful. The chicken moist and crunchy and the waffle savory and sweet. The pickled onions added a extra play on the sweet and salty. Now onto the staff… this establishment has to have one the MOST attentive staffs I have ever seen. Everyone pitch in. They weren’t like vultures hovering over you and pestering you. Our waitress was named JEN. She was extremely polite and friendly. Her service was A+ exceptional Executive Chef JULIE has to be one of the most passionate and talented chefs and chefs to watch(She’s going places) in the CT area. Hearing about her background in the culinary arts she certainly has added her passion for to food The Amici. Honestly one of the best restaurants I’ve attended in a long time. I highly recommend it

Heard this was a new spot so my friend and I tried it out for dinner and drinks. My experience: –Solid draft beer selection(not too many options, but they’re good options. Having Sip of Sunshine & DuVig Brown Ale is a thumbs up!) –Great food. I enjoyed the Tavern Burger and their fries are awesome. I’m actually eating my leftover fries as I write this. –Friendly staff –TVs at the bar –The interior looks newly renovated and has a front deck for warmer temps. –Parking lot in the back, but if that fills up — seems like street parking is allowed. I would love to come back and try some apps(those nachos caught my eye)

Stumbled upon this place after the Buffalo Wild Wings in North Haven had too long of a wait. Boy, we are glad we did! Food was delicious, cute décor, comfy atmosphere, and friendly staff. I ordered the chicken & waffle sandwich– unique and tasty! We ordered wings as an appetizer– also delicious & very flavorful. Highly recommended.

When I heard Amici was coming to North Haven I was excited. This location has had a few restaurants since On Broadway started out here years ago. I’ve been here twice and was pleased with both the food and service both times. Our waitress(Ashley) for my first visit was sweet and attentive. I forget who waited on us the second time, but he was good as well. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. They’ve nailed the tavern feel. Popcorn is brought to the table as a snack instead of bread which I love.(Not that I wouldn’t love bread too haha) On the first visit we ordered the nachos to share. I had the loaded gnocchi. I was impressed with both the nachos and the loaded gnocchi. The nachos were different from your average nachos. the good kind of different. Loved the creamy sauce drizzled on top and the hint of lime I tasted. Loaded gnocchi was rich and filling. On my second visit I had steak with the mushroom sauce. There were three different choices for sauce if I remember correctly. Didn’t love the mushroom sauce(just a matter of preference) but the steak was tender. I’ll definitely be back!

My mother and I came here on a whim, and I am so glad we did. The nachos are life changing, they are so different but absolutely perfect. Mom got chowder, I got French onion soup, both perfectly executed. For our entrees we ordered chicken and waffles and chicken fajitas, respectively. The chicken in both cases was perfectly cooked, juicy and delicious. They make the fajita shells on premise!!! How great is that!?! The cocktails were well crafted and the wait staff was award winning. I will happily return here again and again. Keep up the GREAT work!!!

Give this new restaurant a try! Second visit to this new restaurant. Parking is less than stellar, but worth finding a spot to experience the food. There are two dining areas, and one large bar area. The entrance way dining room is a bit crowded and loud, but it gives you that«tavern like feel». A new arrangement of tables could be in order, and way to diminish the noise level. This sounds negative, but it is merely a few suggestions to bring things up a notch. Service first time was better as it was a bit slower, but waitstaff are aware and very very accommodating. First visit I was pleased with size, presentation, and taste of Cobb Salad. Plates are wooden planks.different. Other patron had braised ribs.excellent.served with risotto. Well worth both choices. Second visit, I had chicken fajitas… presented nicely, but not so generous with the chicken portion and other ingredients to make several fajitas. Other patron had half rack of ribs, delicious, yet a bit on fatty side. Sides were great, with exception of ice cold corn on the cob. Waitress came right back with steamy new corn on the cob. Dessert was as easy as ice cream swirl… generous portion and hot coffee. All in all, this place is worth the visit. They are working out the kinks and you can see them trying to please customers. Their other restaurant has been nothing but stellar, so it should be assumed this will also be the same.
