Stopped in the other day with a few friends after having a favorable experience at the other location in Orange, CT. There’s a pretty wide selection and most things are in good condition. Prices are reasonable. Not as large as the other location and the hours are more limited. Employees were nice. I’ll definitely be back.

This was a fun little thrift shop on State Street. Lots of choices with both furniture and clothing. We found some great bargains and I think they have sales/discounts on different things almost every day they are open.

While this store is much cleaner and nicer than Goodwill, their prices are ridiculous, for what I go for. I collect dishes and I thrift my collection, but I’ve yet to find anything priced reasonably at Helping Hands. Most of what I find that I would be interested in is very obviously damaged, with missing patterns and dishwasher film. Not only that, but the stuff is marked up as if it were sitting in an antique store! I think management knows that people collect this stuff, and marks it up accordingly without even paying attention to the condition of the item. As such, I’ve seen the same things sitting there for well over a year, because people aren’t completely stupid. I’ve also seen a sugar and creamer set that was chipped and cracked and GLUED back together, still going for around $ 12. Thrift store pricing? NOWAY. The bad thing is, is that these items are donated. They’re not consignment. It’s just so clearly for a profit that it disgusts me. I’m not exactly clear on how this place is «helping» anyone when they can’t sell their donated merchandise because of ridiculous markups. (This review is for the Orange store.)

I have been to the orange location. It’s a nice thrift store. Electronics, furniture, little knick knacks, and organized. Way better & cleaner than goodwill.
