Delicious! There’s not too many good sandwich shops in my neighborhood so I hopped on the chance to go to this one when my son and I were out doing errands. I had a Philly Cheese steak combo and he had the Tuna Combo. The atmosphere is a standard hole in the wall food joint and it can seem too unassuming to be good and when the food arrived, I thought the splatted on seasoned salty fries and sliced melted cheese were a bad sign… but all for naught! Everything was really tasty and satisfying. No stomach aches after, either ;) Would recommend.

While I was getting my car worked on next door, I came to have lunch. Their pepper steak was really food. Fries, crunchy the way I like it. Definitely a place to come back.

While I was getting my speakers put in at Street Sound Plus. I came to here to have lunch. I ordered philly cheese steak sandwich and fries. VERY Good! If you’re near by, try the place. Small place but clean and friendly people here. I recommend them.

This is an AMAZING place for subs. It’s quaint and pretty cheap. The service was fast and friendly and the philly cheese steak was THEBEST I’ve ever had!!! I will definitely be coming back very soon! Thank you captains for such a perfect first impression!!!

There aren’t many places to get a decent lunch in North Hills, but this is one. Great vegetarian sandwich that always has good avocado and fresh sprouts.

For a greasy spoon takeout joint, this place is primo! Fast, inexpensive, consistent food served with a smile is all you can really ask for in a place like this. Try the Tunacado sandwich or the turkey burger. Bonus points for serving breakfast and all the sweet airplane art and knock knacks on the wall!

I had lunch here today while waiting to have my Sirius Radio installed next door. I didn’t have any cash and they take plastic for purchases over $ 6. I ordered a #8 special w/cheese(small pepper steak, fries and a fountain drink). It was just under $ 9. I paid and sat down to wait. The dining room is set up kinda weirdly. There’s a fridge full of soda’s and water, but the fountain drinks are on the other side of the room. There’s also a table w/lots of different kinds of condiments… so you can dress up your food anyway you want. The cashier brought my food out to me on the cutest tray. They’re not your typical ugly red trays. They’re white and have beautiful designs… very classy for a little sandwich shop. My philly wasn’t exactly traditional and it didn’t have enough salt, but once i added a couple dashes, it was very good. Tender meat, tasty cheese and the peppers and onions added a crunchy note. The fries were just standard… squirted a bit of ketchup over them and they were adequate. I left full and happy. I’ll definitely come back here to try out other subs or even the teriyaki.

So much good food. High quality ingredients. this place caght my attention for quite some time but unfortunatly hadn’t had a chance to go. After getting the 10 inch philly cheese sub with everything(mushroom, pepers and onions) i just made this my new favorite philly cheese steak joint. There is so many more options of subs and meals. i will definitely return and try more menu items. Only psid $ 10 for the huge sub, onion rings and drink.

I have been going here for lunch for about 10 years. Usually get the Ham and Cheese. Can’t really mess that up and theirs is good. Quick service and fresh ingredients.

The house steak sandwich is tasty though a little over-priced for the size. On the rare occasions I’ve tried something other than the cheese steak I was always disappointed. For example the Club Sandwich had limp, thin white bread, processed meats and cheese, wilted lettuce and I-kid-you-not, one of the tomato pieces was the top that included the core! yuck Needless to say I don’t really experiment much here now. Stick to the cheese steaks, you can’t go wrong!

Maybe the next time i visit they will get more stars but this time i wasn’t impressed. Happen to be in the neighborhood for work and stopped in for a bite during lunch. After Unilocal’n the place looked and sounded OK by the reviews, ehhh i should’ve known better. I had the Chicken Teriyaki Sub and the chicken reminded me of the chicken and sauce from Yoshinoya(watered down and bland). FYI — I’m not a fan a Yoshinoya, so take it for what it’s worth. I should’ve tried something different but hey it is what it is, and they’ll get reviewed on what i had. The service was OK nothing great but the place was clean so that’s always a plus. Honorable Mention: The Teriyaki Chicken Sub was horrible

As I work down the street, my coworkers and I used to visit Captain’s on a near weekly basis. We absolutely loved going there because the food was fresh and the service was pretty good. But over the past few months, we stopped going because of a change in staffing and management. Today, I went back to Captain’s for the first time since the summer, and I was absolutely shocked at the changes that I encountered: Firstly, when I walked in, the cashier behind the counter eyed me down all the way until I got to the counter. No greeting. No smile. Just a really strange sneer. And anyone who has been here before should know how LONG that walk is from the front door to the counter. Next, when I finally did order a bacon breakfast burrito, the cashier put my order in and proceeded to talk to a friend that walked in a little before I did. She had completely neglected to ring me up, so I’m just standing there awkwardly with my wallet in hand… waiting…and waiting. She eventually looked in my direction about a minute later, did a double take, and charged me the $ 5 for my food. I also want to mention that this friend was allowed behind the counter into the kitchen and shouted her own order at the cook. Additionally, this substantial order had precedence over any other order already in line(like mine). So, I waited over 20 minutes for a bacon breakfast burrito, and I was the only person in the restaurant. My breakfast burrito was a little bit on the small side, but it was still delicious. No issues with the cook. She was hauling ass back there. However, after this general experience, I probably should’ve just stayed away. Really miss the old owner and how on top of the customer service she was.

This is a great sandwich shop located in a strip mall and could easily be missed. They have a variety of items on there menu. The tunacado on wheat is one good sandwich. My sandwich was loaded with tuna, avocado, pickles, lettuce and onions on toasted bread. Service was quick and the guy at the counter was friendly. I am totally sad I discovered them the last day I was working in Van Nuys. But if I ever go back, I know where I will be lunching.

I don’t typically«chowhound», i.e. try a place blind, but was rewarded by trying out this non-descript exterior restaurant which a picture of a Philly Cheesesteak on it’s billboard. Food and interior far exceeded my expectations. The Mushroom and Peppers Cheese Steak is delicious. Special marks for consistency and flavor o the melted cheese spread throughout the sandwich. Extensive menu. Cool mural of Van Nuys airfield and bullet hole riddled plane panels as decoration
