Wickford Cove Framing Gallery

Overly pricey and disappointingly slow service.
My girlfriend won Christmas by painting me a very nice picture, so I wanted to keep it pristine by saving it. I was a little leery of going to a cheaper frame shop (Michaels, etc.) because of the sentimental value of the piece. I also live close to Wickford and wanted to support local business so I went to Wickford Cove Framing Gallery.
I was willing to pay a premium in order to make sure my painting was safe, but the cheapest black frame (including glass) for the 20×30 painting came to $ 136. That was a little jarring but I was still open to it to keep the painting safe. I put half the money down and was told they’d call me in two weeks.
Fast forward to a month later. I had been incredibly busy with work so I had honestly forgotten until I went through my wallet and found my receipt. I was frightened they had tried to call me and I had been too busy to answer and hadn’t seen their message. I called with no answer. When i swung by the shop to double check, they told me (after thinking for about 2 seconds) that it would be ANOTHER WEEK.
I was furious but held back. But when I got home I was really stewing. I paid good money and waited more than a reasonable amount of time and it felt like they had forgotten me. I started worrying that this painting which meant so much to me was thrown in a corner, crushed under other apparently more important projects.
It was ready 3 days after my visit. Which only proves to me it could have been done in such a short amount of time that even the original quote of 2 weeks was very liberal.
The frame job itself was decent, but so not worth the cost in money and time spent waiting and worrying.
In conclusion, I would highly recommend you not take your business to Wickford Cove Framing Gallery. Their prices are too high and their service is too slow. Afterwards i wished a review like this had been around before I went.
