I usually don’t try a lot of Chinese cuisine in Florida after having lived in china for a year just because I can never find anything authentic and I tend to be a picky eater. BUT shing wang has proved me otherwise… This place is as close as I’ll get to china while I’m here. I went with my Chinese student and we ordered dumplings, bubble tea, and spicy beef. Everything was delish, very unexpected! The staff is very nice and accommodating. I intend to go back some time, even though I live an hour away is completely worth it!

Business is closed! Went today for Bubble Tea, the shop is now«King of Dumpling». They don’t so Taro slush, so we got the regular taro milk bubble tea and it was awful! Tastes nothing like shing wangs perfect boba. It’s a sad sad day, Miami. Five stars to say goodbye…

Very clean and neat which was refreshing to see. Food was nice and fresh made to order. I got a green tea latte with boba It was an Intresting flavor profile every bubble tea place has a completely different flavor and this place had a decent flavor I enjoyed it enough to order a 2nd green tea latte before I left I would definetly return. The boba were cooked perfectly. Overall the bubble tea was not the best I’ve ever had but it was close to it. 4⁄5 stars :)

Two bobas and one Chinese pork bun. Meh on the bun, the boba isn’t bad. I wouldn’t come back because the attitude and service sucks. The place seems clean and be prepared to pay an extra fee for EVERYTHING! «Oh you want another straw» 2 dolla

I’ve only been here once… And I’m sure I will be back one day, but let’s just say I’m not going to plan my day around coming here. The menu looks really affordable and has lots of nice options(I saw a lot of vegetarian possibilities) but I didn’t eat when I came. Maybe I was a bit confused? I was under the impression it was just a bubble tea café. Either way, walk in, order and pay at the counter and seat yourself. She called out our bubble teas when they were ready. I recommend not ordering until you are 100% sure what you want. The lady(I’m assuming owner) doesn’t have much patience and doesn’t seem to like answering any types of questions. So be sure of what you want. I kind of felt like my aunt was yelling ate when I had a question about the special bubble tea of the day(you know that feeling??) And yes, I said my please and thank you’s and left a tip. But she still seamed so unpleasant and angry… Yummy bubble tea tho!

Strange place. Empty on a Friday night is not usually the best sign for a place, but I decided to check it out anyway based on the Unilocal rating and some of the reviews. Also I was really hungry and it was time to eat. The menu is not the largest, a sort of weird selection. I decided that I wanted to maybe get crispy soy chicken in garlic sauce with broccoli. I was informed that no substitutions are allowed and that I would have to make a choice. So, I got the Crispy Soy Chicken($ 9.95) with brown rice($ 1.50), a side order of Garlic Broccoli($ 6), and a Steamed Veggie Bun($ 2.75). Veggie Bun was soft and tasted pretty fresh, so that was good. Crispy Soy Chicken was just a large piece of textured soy shaped into a chicken shape. I really should have just went with the tofu dish. The crispy soy chicken is like if someone just gave you a large piece of chicken as called it a meal. The Garlic Broccoli was actually curry broccoli. Not what I wanted, but tasty. All in all, I’m not running back and I honestly wouldn’t suggest anything past the Steamed Veggie Bun.

Not a huge menu but very tasty food at really good prices. If the quality remains as good, this is my new chinese takeout joint for now.

Don’t do it! Don’t come here and expect good boba! I mean if you’re used to California boba(esp on SoCal) then this place is a big disappointment. Well all that they got right was the texture… I think. Flavor could be better, the boba could have been warm. I got the black milk tea and yea it was whatever. NOTEXCEPTIONAL. I also got a steamed bun which was pretty good? It was just diff Asian veggies inside with noodles. Again nothing impressive. probably just a regular steamed bun you can get anywhere. I gave it 3 stars though because I haven’t tried any of the other Taiwanese café food(they have a pretty extensive menu with rice bowls and snacks). So if I come back, it will be for that!

RUDE! RUDE! RUDE! Lady behind the counter got our order wrong and insisted it was our fault… It was her fault. She absolutely would not admit she made a mistake and kept blaming me and raising her voice to me. Bubble tea was weak too. NEVERGOINGBACKANDYOUSHOULDN’T EITHER!!!

Five stars for food and price. Negative one star for service. The food is so good. My favorite is the pork belly bowl but everything else is great and at $ 7 for a lunch special and drink(from a limited but tasty menu) you can’t beat the price. The dumplings are delicious and taste homemade and there are usually specials posted at the counter. The bubble teas are so good. I love that they have the machine that seal the top of the cups with plastic — it is fun and convenient when you are getting a bunch of them to go for your office. My favorite is the green tea smoothie with tapioca. I would also recommend the avocado. Sounds gross but is delicious. The service, however, is awful. The woman who runs it has a serious attitude and I don’t think I have ever seen her smile. Heck, I am fluent in Chinese and I still can’t get through to her! It is now my mission to get this woman to smile every time I visit. I just hope she doesn’t get pissed and ban me from the restaurant like some Seinfeld episode!!! The food is so good it is worth putting up with. I love this place that much.

I come here often for the Coconut bubble tea,(regular or slush. both great) and the honey garlic chicken with rice. Yummy. Great way to ingest unhealthy calories. But who cares when you’re coming for Chinese food? The woman at front can very snappy and rude, which is why I give this review 3 stars instead of 4.

The place seemed to have change since my last review. It looks darker inside and feels older even though they have the new machines to make boba tea. I suspect the place has changed management since I first came. They no longer have ice cream to put into boba tea so that was a major disappointment as it is how I like mine. I will probably have to refer people to the mall in Aventura.

This is an authentic Taiwanese restaurant… how do I know? I visited Taiwan in 2009 and the food and Bubble tea is very similar than the one they have over there. However, the also have Americanized Chinese style dishes. The Bubble tea is delicious; my favorites are: mango, taro and passion fruit. Lo mein= good, fried rice= good, curry rice noodles= good, wonton soup= good… I tried the pork belly dish not to to miss the Unilocal tradition on experimenting on new flavors! and nawww no good. I’m not saying by any means the dish was not done right; but it can be a little too much for those of us that are not used to eating the guts of an animal.

The drink was ok. Bad customer service. I asked if they have artichoke drink, the lady I believe the owner responded with an uneasy reaction«what? Why? This is a Chinese restaurant»…also with not really nice nonverbals. I guess thats the way she is cause she talked to other customers like yelling at them also. I’m from Houston where they have every good stuffs AND of course: Good customer service. So this place deserve 2 stars for the piña colada I ordered.

First time I had 2 Bubble teas, missed it so much. You can get it with ice or like a smoothie. I got lychee, then coconut. YUM, too full to order food, they have noodles and rice dishes. Like how they list Vegan drinks in their menu. This place has many vegetarian options listed but when I started to ask, the owner said it was discontinued due to lack of interest. The location is on a busy street, real close to the major highways, though the strip mall is kind of run down and not a place to take anyone you need to impress. There is an Asian food mart a few doors down, so you can grab more goods if you need.

On my continual journey to find a refuge for Mandarin Chinese food and bubble tea, I had stumbled into this small little restaurant. Once I entered the restaurant I noticed about seven tables in this small but clean establishment. Desiring a quick bite for lunch, I ordered a Vietnamese styled chicken rice bowl and a large taro bubble tea. After waiting about 5 or so minutes I received my food, I could smell the«fish sauce«emanating from my dish. I hate fish sauce … really I hate it, they definitely put to much fish sauce in my dish for my liking. Outside of the excess fish sauce, the dish was actually quite good with perfectly cooked white rice and the vegetables were fresh and crisp. The Bubble tea was nothing special, but it was good. I realized after I received my bubble tea that I could have had it made with soy milk, instead of traditional milk. I am definitely going to try this place again, but only the Mandarin dishes, since all Vietnamese dishes have«fish sauce».

It’s Noon on a Sunday, I wake up craving a good Bahn Mi(Vietnamese Sandwich) only to remind myself of my previous searches to find good Bahn Mi in Miami has been fraught with frustration and sheer disappointment… I thought maybe if I looked a little harder I could find what I wanted. I didn’t have to look very hard this time, it seems to have popped up right under my nose. Shing Wang started a new blog about how they were now offering Bahn Mi. I didn’t believe it so I called to confirm. and it was true! I quickly jumped into my car and made my way there. I was surprised by the updated décor, it’s a nice touch and more conducive for dining in, although somehow it feels a little less authentic now. I chose the BBQ Pork Bahn Mi and an order of pork dumplings. As I was waiting for my food to be prepared, I chatted with one of the owners about how it was great there was a new place to go for Bahn Mi and how it was hard to find one that didn’t suck when compared to places I’ve been to in NY and SF. I turns out they felt the same way, and went to great lengths to find just the right stuff to make a good sandwich. My expectations weren’t high after being let down in the past, but I had a feeling that was about to change. The dumplings came out first, a generous eight in total. Not bad for $ 5.50. The sandwich came out soon afterward, everything nicely presented. The dumplings were good, but the sandwich was excellent! All the right combination of meat, pickled veggies, and bread; Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. The pickled veggies and cilantro adding the sweetness and freshness that sets a Vietnamese sandwich apart from the rest. I wouldn’t say it was perfect, it’s almost impossible to replicate the bread with the heat and humidity of South Florida, but it comes close enough to make me a happy Unilocaler and from my experience the best you’ll get in a city known for sub-par Asian food. Hopefully more places like Shing Wang will help change that. Please check it out soon!

My New Year’s resolution was to finally write a positive review. I’m not quite there yet but hey, aim low and you won’t be disappointed if you fall short. Shing Wang Taiwanese + Vegetarian is tucked away in a nondescript plaza like a cross-dresser’s genitals, between a BK and a PK… you’ll know when you get there. You may be overwhelmed by the menu, but luckily I’ve already done the trial and error and here are my results – The Minuses — A quarter of their menu will always be out of stock. I tried to order the Chinese Bun-Bun(BBQ pork filled donut) so many times I was finally informed in the words of En Vogue… «Never gonna get it, no you’ll never gonna get it! Never ever gonna get it, my sweet H1N1 bun». You know these things had to have left a trail of bodies as long as the Great Wall for it to be banned from entering the U.S. From Taiwan of all places. Sweet and Sour Chicken — Without a doubt the worst I’ve ever had. A dish that reminds me of that time my vegan friend started cooking meat for her omnivore husband. If I had to guess what the ingredients were I’d say… freshly chewed Bubblicious, wrapped in fried female condom, and drizzled with a Hawaiian Punch reduction. Vegetarian Sticky Rice — A pot luck dinner in your mouth, full of all kinds of random ingredients and unpredictable consistency. Glutinous rice, chestnuts, mushrooms, cinnamon, and tree bark. A real freakshow wrapped in lotus leaves. Unwrapped it looked like something that would fall of a zombie, if you shotgun blasted one at point blank range. A clear menu leads to a clean conscience. People with dietary restrictions or allergies to dairy, sesame, soy, tree nuts… etc…are not safe here. The disclaimers on the menu warn that, «All meats are made with soy products» and«If you are 100% vegetarian, please notify us». They are alienating both audiences in my opinion, like if Clay Aiken all of a sudden started singing R&B. Carnivores are not fans of soy/meat mixtures. Herbivores are not fans of having their green and leafies cooked in animal fat. The Pluses — Okinawa is about as far from Taiwan, as Key West is from Havana. No surprise, there are Japanese dishes and they’re well made. Inari(rice wrapped in seasoned fried tofu), pan fried gyoza(pork dumplings), goma wakame(seaweed salad), udon noodles, miso soup, mochi ice cream, and even edamame… for the ladies. Bubble Tea — Your pilgrimage for sweet Taiwanese treats will lead you to Shing Wang. If you like simple and refreshing you can’t go wrong with Cantaloupe, Mango or Strawberry. If you’re a true Unilocalopotamus, enjoy such earthly delights as Red Bean(chili smoothie), Avocado(runny guacamole) and don’t forget Love Bird Tea… it only sounds like it’s full of Avian Flu but it’s actually a combination of coffee, tea and evaporated milk. Beware those of you that have«that texture thing» because if you don’t like gelatinous textures, you really won’t enjoy yourself. My well funded but unofficial research has demonstrated that 50% of non-Asians despise tapioca pearls. I’ve heard such descriptions as sweet caviar, slimy larvae, or frog eggs. Don’t fret, there are all kinds of flavored dofu pudding and agar-agar jelly substitutes. Shaved Ice — I like my desserts, like I like my ladies… shaved and sweet. As my luck would have it though, they are usually quite cold, and cause headaches. There are as many toppings, as there are chickens in China, of which you get to choose four. The knowledgeable staff, although a little inpatient, speak English and will answer all your questions. To sum it all up I’d say what’s bad is ghastly, what’s good is great. There are so many little adventures to be had at Shing Wang, just be sure to bring an open mind, and a spare pancreas.

I’m giving this place a FOU’ staaars. ‘Lemme tell you, I’m judging this place harshly too because I am Taiwanese! Honestly, this little place is amazing. Though its STRICKLY vegetarian, this place is great for everyone. I’m pretty sure that like 89% of the population would enjoy something from their menu. I brought my boytoy, who isn’t well-acquainted with vegetarian foods and didn’t even know what we were ordering was vegetarian! Everything on the menu still says«Chicken» this or that. But don’t be fooled because their meat substitute which is some kind of soy and other things. It still taste great though! You can tell theres a difference but the taste is still really good. It doesn’t taste tofu-y or too soy-ey. We ordered the Mango«Chicken» dish and it was really good. I’d definitely recommend this dish for first-timers. Do eet! Do eeet! And of course, you CANNOT leave this place without ordering some Boba Tea.(Which I might add that Taiwan started it! /end boastfulness) There’s not much options as other places might have, but atleast they don’t use powder substitutes so thats really key. Aaaaaaaand if you’re really into trying something from Taiwanese cuisine and still have a sweet tooth, try to the Shaved Ice. Its really authentic and something really different from the norm, if you’re into that. Dos thumbs up to my people. whee!
