AKA Village Tavern? Chili & Chips and the burger were good. They have a covered patio which makes for nice outdoor seating, and the service was very good. Solid spot to eat and drink, especially considering there’s not much else in the area.

Had a very pleasant Sunday brunch. Wife said that the hot pastrami sandwich was among the best she ever had. Interior is a little eclectic but this is a tablecloth kind of place. Staff were very accomodating.

An old favorite stop when we traveled through the area that has gone way down hill. On our visit this week, the service was so ridiculously bad that i should have gone with my instincts and left immediately. Instead, after wrong drink orders that took 35 minutes to arrive at our table, and receiving a crab cake that tasted rancid, i asked to speak to a manager. The manager came to speak to us and was absolutely drunk and hostile. My husband is in the business, so I can appreciate the challenges of the industry– but I consider myself a well-behaved customer who expects to be treated with respect. This was not the situation at Bentley’s. I don’t even mind rude service if the food is good! But I feel like I through my $ 60 down a toilet(the cost of 2 dinners and 2 drinks). Other people around us seemed unhappy to… maybe it was an off night, but I won’t be back to find out!

Love this place, small but the food makes up for that. Me and the wife had the steak au poivre«excellent». Had the crabcakes for an app. Big and tasty, will be back!

When I walked into Bentley’s I was a little confused. I wasn’t here to drink, I just wanted food. There are a few tables but no hostess. I pretty quickly figured out to just take a seat. The place is a lot cooler inside than the pictures on here suggest. It’s exactly what I picture when somebody says«tavern». Looks like a great place to spend a rainy afternoon downing fancy scotch. And they did have a pretty good selection of scotch up on the wall. The place was busy as I sat down and we waited a few minutes for someone to come over. The bartender made it fairly quick, especially with how busy he was. He was friendly and seemed to be really doing his best under a lot of pressure. We ordered a burger and a reuben. The service was perfectly acceptable and timely once we had ordered. I felt bad that we weren’t drinking alcohol but I was on my way to work. The food here is damn good. Sysco must hate them. Everything is homemade. Even the bread was from a local bakery. In house corned beef. Ridiculously fresh veggies. Hand cut fries. They actually cook stuff here. And they are good at it too! Its sad how hard it is to find a place that actually makes things themselves nowadays. This is one of the very very few. Will definitely be back.

We went here on the way back from Providence. We had steak au poivre and the crabcakes. Both were excellent. The mashed potatoes were unbelievably good, as were the Caesar salads. The rice with the crabcakes was curry and a bit spicy, but very good. We will be back. Waitress was very nice but harried as she had to cover all the tables by herself on a Sat night.

Small townie dive bar with good food. The service can be a bit slow and it took a little while for the food to come out. My biggest complaint were the number of fruit flies in the place. I like bar flies, just not the fruity kind.

We made the trip out to Bentley’s after seeing it highlighted in the Unilocal ‘Steaks are High’ post. When we first walked in, I was at first surprised about how small it is inside. While I was immediately struck with the feeling that it was filled with regulars, we were warmly welcomed by the quirky woman running the show(pouring drinks, taking food orders, etc.). The feeling inside is warm and comfortable. Despite only seeing one person working the floor, service was prompt, friendly and down to earth. There was live music which I enjoyed. And the food was really fantastic. Only our first trip there, but we all agreed we’d be heading back!

This place doesn’t look like much from the outside, but once you go in you’ll know why this place is a great hidden jewel. This is a small place with a great friendly charm. We started out our meal with a strange item called tempura meatloaf. I was skeptical, but once the food was served, I was a believer. Meatloaf battered on skewers with a gourmet ketchup. Awesome!!! For an entrée, we both ordered the 8 oz tenderloin. The steak was perfectly cooked and tender. The sides, mashed potatoes and mixed veg, were delicious and very comforting. The drinks were very good, well poured. The timing of the meal was done very well and the service was very attentive. Overall, great meal, good drinks, and great service. This is a small local place that does it all well. If you go there a few times they will know your name and what you drink. A real lost art when it comes to restaurants these days.

I really only have one thing to say about Bentleys… «I love this freaking place». So my girlfriend wanted to take me to dinner for my birthday, and a buddy kept telling me how much he liked Bentleys. so we hopped in the truck a couple Firdays ago and headed out into the woods. At first appearance, Bentleys doesn’t seem like much, a small unpretentious building that sits next to a pizza place on the corner of 116 and Rt 6 in North Smithfield. Once inside, you realize just how small it is. The single room is dominated by a big U shaped bar, with 8 – 10 cozy tables around the edge of the room. All manner of knickknacks, animal horns and muskets line the walls, it has a very warm, rustic country kind of fell. The staff was super friendly, and a little surly, just the way I like them. I laughed out loud when the waitress referred to the bartender as «a little whore», all in good fun. Drinks we’re strong and fairly inexpensive. Now the food. I was in a steak kind of mood and got the 8 oz filet mignot au poivre(which in this cook’s opinion, was closer to 10 – 11 oz) with mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. First little surprise was a tasty Caesar salad that came with my meal. it was the perfect appetizer. Good caesar dressing, crisp greens,(no brown pieces or bits of stalk… ugghh huge pet peeve of mine) and tangy shavings of parmesan. On to the main course. the steak. which had to be 3 inches thick, was cooked to an absolute perfect medium rare… like spot on, Not an easy thing to do on a thick filet. The au poivre sauce was the perfect accompaniment. The mashed potatoes were creamy and seasoned just right. Even the asparagus was done well. Just a great meal and experience, and the best part. it was $ 18 bucks. Seriously. shut the front door. This steak at any of the«Steak Houses» in PVD would have been 38 – 45 bucks, and probably not done as well. This place is a gem… well worth the trip out into the woods.

Can’t think of a reason to not give this place five stars. This unassuming, little tavern is always a satisfying and enjoyable experience. First off, nice selection of beers on tap for such small place. Very generous glasses of wine. This place is certainly a tavern — bulky bar, with smaller, cozy tables along the walls. The place does get busy on evenings, and expect to wait for a table if you arrive later on the weekends. Still, people rarely turn away no matter how packed it is, as the wait is worth it. Service can get slow on the busy nights, but as of yet this has not affected an evening negatively. Food is really, really excellent. Chefs are really talented, and all food is prepared with great, fresh ingredients. Menu is on the smaller side, yet not one dish has disappointed us yet. Everything from the incredible steak sandwich, to the Chicken Marsala or Steak au Poivre is delicious. Hand cut fries and excellent house dressing top it off perfectly. And the specials are always worth consideration. A local gem and favorite.

Read other reviews since we were in town for only a night. They were spot one except for one thing: crab cakes here rocked! I got the appetizer and it was very substantial. The chipolte mayo was perfect! My mate had a cheese burner and was very happy. It’s a small place, but the service and atmosphere was comfy. I’d come back for sure if I’m back in the area.

We love this place. The interior is really cool, like an English hunting lodge. The food is really amazing for such a tiny tavern. My filet was perfect!!! Steak sandwich is yummy. I also like that its 21+. Thats right, no kids allowed here. Acoustic music on Friday nights.

Wow! I have been driving by this place for about 7 years on the drive between my parents house in Mass. and where I live in CT. — but I never stopped! Truth to be told, my boyfriend and I often stop at Cindy’s, a diner just down the road from Bentley’s when we make this drive. This time we planned to do the same, but Cindy’s was closed at 8:01pm when we arrived. We were starving so decided to try Bentley’s on a total whim. WHATANAWESOMESURPRISE! The outside of the tavern and the awkward american flag sign out front do not do this place justice! When we opened the door, it was warm welcoming tavern filled with diners and a live musician who was really good. The food was pretty good, I recommend the Nachos and the people(patrons and staff) were friendly. The couple eating next to us described the place as «an awesome local place». Although I am not a local, that is definitely the feel I got from Bentley’s.

Next time your in North Scituate, I highly suggest you drop by Bentley’s for a beer or a steak sandwich. This is my favorite kind of place. Clearly a local favorite and for good reason. Friendly people, good food and a comfortable atmosphere. If you have ever seen No Reservations with Anthony Bourdain, this is the kind of place he seeks out. It was the owners birthday and she had a table reserved that she gave to our party just because we were already there. The salad was gourmet with a delicate dressing and shaved Romano cheese. Totally unexpected from a tavern with early American flare. The steak sandwich was so kick ass, I want to go back tonight and get another. Becky had a chicken pot pie that came out in it’s own little package. with an awesome gravy. There was a guy with a guitar playing pop hits that was average, but not too loud and all catchy tunes so I’m keeping the 5 star status
