The Tigerlily Salon

Sheri saw me last minute when she luckily had some serious time blocks available– I came in as a new client with big ideas– I wanted to update my grown out golden balayage to a fresher, lighter/​brighter balayage and add in some «rose gold”/pink in there too– oh and add in a hair cut from a photo I found on Instagram.
Sheri NAILED it. All of it. I’m beyond pleased. She took 4 hours with me and transformed my dull hair into a cascade of flowing pink and golden locks that would make a unicorn proud. I’m obsessed and I’ve already gotten a ton of compliments. I came from San Francisco where I’ve been getting my hair done and Sheri is definitely as talented or more than the big city stylists there that charge twice as much. I definitely will come in to see her next time I’m visiting my parents in the area.
I’ll add photos but they really can’t do it justice. Just go in! And always have photos for reference when trying something new!

I had color by Meggan and a cut by Christi. I couldn’t be happier. I brought in pictures of what I wanted and they delivered 100%. Meggan took her time free-​handing my color and the results are just what I wanted. I usually get anxious before a hair appointment due to some previous bad experiences elsewhere. Now that I have tigerlily I can just relax and know I will be listened to and taken care of.

Awesome environment, talented staff. Sheri is the best– she has been cutting my hair for nearly a decade and I have never been disappointed.

This is my favorite place to get my hair done! Sheri is my hair dresser and I can’t recommend her enough. She does an amazing job, is nice as can be and incredibly funny. Whether you just need a trim or a new cut and color Tigerlily is the place to go!

This salon is absolutely beautiful. They are constantly making improvements every time I visit to make the client experience top notch. The entire staff is friendly and outgoing, and it always feels just like sitting around having an afternoon chat with your best friends rather than just getting your hair done.
Sheri has been doing my hair since, well forever (and far too long for me to admit to in actual years). She always is willing to try something new and knows when to talk me off the ledge of doing something she knows just won’t work for me. I can’t imagine going anywhere else! Watching the other stylists and staff I have seen some amazing cuts, colors, and complete transformations, and would be completely confident in seeing anyone in the salon if (knock on wood) Sheri were unavailable.

I come from a metropolitan area and was accustomed to paying over $ 150 at a high-​end salon to have my hair cut and colored. When I moved to the Pioneer Valley, I was worried that such a rural area wouldn’t be able to provide me the same kind of service, at any cost.
Thankfully, I found Tigerlily. Sheri has been doing my hair for awhile now; I even trusted her to take me from a long (mid-​back), layered style to a trendy shorter «long bob». I receive compliments weekly on my cut, and I always send them to Tigerlily. Additionally, their services are a fraction of what you would pay in a city.
They also carry some of my favorite products– Davines (an extremely high-​end, Italian organic brand that I couldn’t find ANYWHERE except online) and Phyto.

I decided to come here after reading all the great Unilocal reviews. I called midday on a Sunday and they were able to fit me in a couple hours later which was great. $ 56 was a little more than I wanted to pay for just a haircut but not terrible so I went with it.
Everyone was very nice and the pre-​cut scalp and shoulder massage was brief but relaxing. I then showed the stylist a picture of myself from a few years ago with the haircut I wanted. She said it was very cute and that she could easily do it. She asked a couple clarifying questions about length (do you want it longer like that in the back? to which I said yes) and off we went.
Now, I did not expect her to mimic the haircut perfectly because I know that is difficult to do (especially with curly/​wavy hair) but the haircut she gave me was nowhere near what I asked for. It was much shorter than what I wanted, especially in the back and while the result wasn’t ugly it really wasn’t what I wanted or showed her at all. It felt like she only knew one way to cut hair short and so she just gave me this basic cut because she didn’t know how to do what I asked for.
Again, everyone was very pleasant and the stylist seemed knowledgeable but the result was really disappointing for me. I’m sorry to not be able to give a better review. I really had high hopes. If you just want a typical cut that looks good this place is probably fine but if you want something specific or different I wouldn’t recommend it based on my experience.

Taryn is awesome. She really listens and spends as much time as needed to make sure I’m happy with my cut. She’s very responsive – I asked her to go shorter and to texturize a bit more at the end of my cut, which she readily did, telling me that she wants to make sure everyone is happy with their cut. She’s incredibly precise, detail-​oriented, and focused. I always leave really happy, and I get lots of compliments on her work! I highly recommend her and the Tigerlily Salon!

After living in Brooklyn for five years and struggling to find a cut/​color that is both affordable and reliable I have finally found my way back to both. I have had numerous wonderful experiences with Sheri and can’t imagine going anywhere else. The atmosphere, staff and service are all top notch.

I called on Thursday morning for a same-​day appointment, fearing the worst. I travel extensively for work, and at times I am forced to have my hair done by *gasp* someone other than my stylist in Los Angeles. It is quite scary, as I have had it basically burned off my hair by a stranger before. The receptionist was extremely friendly over the phone, and was able to book me with Taryn just a few hours later. After explaining to the receptionist that I needed someone who had knowledge of blonde hair, she assured me that Taryn was the girl.
The salon itself is beautiful. Reminds me of my house at the beach, very earthy and relaxing, kitchy minimalist. I was offered water and they brought it out in a wine glass, too cute. The entire staff there was warm, friendly, and it made me feel like I would be taken care of.
Taryn was THE BEST! She did exactly what I wanted to my hair, didn’t burn me or damage my hair, and really did take the time to listen to me during our consultation. She gave a great scalp massage too during the wash… my favorite! I really appreciated her not only accommodating me for a same day appt, but also making my hair look fabulous!
I would definitely recommend this salon, and Taryn, to anyone in the area! If I ever find myself back in Northampton, I would return in a heartbeat!

If you ever had bad customer service from Firefly, have no fear. Although the current owner was a stylist at the former salon, she has a completely different attitude — and it makes a huge difference! Everything now is friendly, relaxed, and professional — and in my opinion they’re using higher quality products than before. I get my hair cut and colored by Christi, and absolutely adore both her and the work she does. Sometimes, I’ve gone to a stylist who seems to want to make me feel bad, either about the texture of my hair (it’s very curly) or about the way someone else has cut it. Christi, by contrast, finds something to compliment each client on. She genuinely seems to like my crazy texture — and knows how to work with it! She cuts curly hair well, but I’ve also seen her cut straight hair in the salon; and color is where she really shines. I’ve seen her do other people’s hair super stylish/​fashionable/​fun ways, but I like my hair to be low-​key and natural — and she understands that and does the best job I’ve ever had done on my hair. (I should mention that I’m from NYC, and the last person who did color for me was a major colorist at a major salon. He charged $ 150 for a single process. .. and didn’t hold a candle to Christi.) She remembers facts about my life from visit to visit and is fun to talk to; and I’ve never been happier with my hair. Couldn’t recommend her or the salon more highly!

Went in today to get a bang trim, without making an appointment beforehand. Apparently, I walked in at the right time! Sheri was just finishing up with another client and seated me in her chair without ANY wait. Now my bangs look bangin’. It was bliss. And cheap! Beautiful salon, cheery staff, and I was in and out in 10 minutes for $ 15. Can’t get any better than that!

Had my hair cut and colored by Taryn and she did an awesome job! She gave me exactly what I wanted but better.
The new salon looks GREAT! Even though it is in the same location as Firefly was it looks like a whole new salon, much more welcoming and spacious.
I would highly recommend Tigerlily Salon, all the stylist are professional and knowledgeable!

Having been a patron of the former firefly salon, I was very impressed with how Tigerlilly had styled the new salon. Super clean and wonderful environment with great staff. It was easy and quick to get an appointment and my stylist Sherri really went above and beyond, I got the color and cut of my life and can’t imagine trusting anyone with my hair again.

This is a really nice salon in the former Firefly Salon space, with some of the same stylists. I got a haircut from Sheri that was fantastic — she took my idea and figured out how to make it work with my hair beautifully. It looked great, but also normal and not overly styled when I walked out of the salon and it was just as good after I washed it. My hair routine is wash, brush and air dry and that’s it, and she managed to give me a haircut that still looks interesting in cool without doing anything at all to it. I have super straight hair so this is quite an achievement!
A basic haircut includes a scalp massage with essential oils before your shampoo, and bang trims in between appointments. Good stuff!
