A really unique experience! Sawyers is like stepping back in time. If only they served beer it would be my favorite bowling alley of all time. I love the old school feel and the simple focus on bowling.

I love going to sawyers it like stepping back in time when people cared about doing a great job. My family has lived in town for 30 years. Both my son and daughter grew up going to Sawyers. Great family place

This is an old, six lane bowling alley that focuses exclusively in bowling. No fancy machines that reset the pins or keep score, no sparkly arcade games to distract the kids and suck up your money. No fancy anything. This is bare bones bowling at its finest. I love this place. I take my kids and my Brownie troop here as often as I can. The prices are great and the shoe rentals for adults are free. The kids can bowl in their socks if they want or they can get shoes too at no cost. The place is small so it’s easy to keep an eye on the kids. The gentleman at the desk is incredibly nice and accommodating. We feel very comfortable and at home at Sawyers. Of you want classic candle pin bowling I highly recommend it. If your looking for loud music and high tech gizmos, then go somewhere else.

We had driven out to Milford to go to some Bowling alley that the BFF had been to before for a party… They were a 2 hour wait, so I jumped on Unilocal, typed in Marlborough & bowling… This is the first place that popped up… We called, do you have open lanes = YEP, do you have Bumpers for kids = YEP! So off we went… Then as we are getting closer(according to the GPS) the BFF who lives down the street is starting to be like WTF, where are we going, there is no bowling alley here… Totally perplexed… We get there & are like What!!! Where the hell is it… Then we see the sign. This little old building was charming, it was quaint, we were still a little puzzled how there was a bowling alley there… Then we walked down the stairs & figured out how… There are 6 tiny lanes, all old school, no new hightech counting or alleys. Everything old school… The man working asked us when we walked in if we called, he already had the lane with bumpers set up for us… He was soo nice & even though it was old the place was soo cool… It was quaint, fun, the boys had a blast bowling(well bowling lasted about 15 minutes, the other 45 consisted of break-dancing on the slippery floor — Run DMC would have been proud of our little breakers)… $ 20, No hassle, no drama. Just a cute little place! Next time we might try big time bowling(think the lights & such might keep the kids entertained a little longer)

We had a blast here! My husband and I came with our friend and our 4 year old son. We came on a weekday afternoon, and the sign said open, but there was a note instructing us to call a # to bowl. We did, and 20 minutes later the owner came and opened up for us. We were had the place to ourselves. Awesome 1st bowling experience for the little man. We can’t wait to go back! Now that we know that there is no one on the premises we will be sure to call in advance. We will definitely be going back!

This is a small 6 lane candle-pin bowling alley. When you walk in you go downstairs and it feels like you are in someones basement. They have really kept to the same décor over all these years. The woman that was there was very nice and helpful. We came here for a work outing and with the 26 of us in there we were jam packed! They do offer some soda/water and to buy but no alcohol. I will most definitely be coming back here(now that I know it exists) and bringing my nieces and nephews! — it was really fun here even if I only hit 1 pin every time it was my turn!

I bowl here every tuesday night. Ernie Sawyer is just one of the nicest persons I have ever met. He makes you feel very welcome and he has kept this business going since 1953… This is a very old and historic place. The prices are great and you will always have a good time here. However if you are using your own candlepin balls beware of chips and dents that may happen as this place is old and the pins/lanes could do damage…

Great little classic gem! My wife and I dropped in earlier today, around 3 pm Sat. No one else was there except for the older gal holding down the fort. Pricing is by the hour – $ 20 per hour or $ 10 per half hour. No music playing, just the loud sounds of our candlepins flying. :-) We bowled, laughed, and had a blast, bowling two strings each just within a half hour. I’m almost 6“3 and my head nearly touched the very low ceiling! Please keep this throwback spot alive by bowling here!
