Anyone knows where else can I get Peruvian cookies? Margarita. Casino. Morochas etc. around the Valley? I live in Arleta.

Wonderful selection of beans. They had Carioca, Cargamento(2 types), pigeon peas and others. They also sold Goya frozen Sofrito and Recaito. All hard to find items. Great for vegetarians. Workers are very nice.

When I want to impress my friends with a true argentine asado, I drive 22 miles each way to La Chiquita Market. Would not have it any other way!

Such a wonderful South American market so close to home. It’s really a shame that I didn’t find this place sooner, their selection is the best I’ve seen anywhere around LA. They have a huge selection of Yerba mates from all over South America, as well as the largest selection I’ve seen of various Latin American wines, alcohol, soft drinks, and snacks. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful as well. Definitely worth a look, I know I’ll be back many times after this.

The employees are wonderful and the market is small but very well equipped. There is a restaurant inside with fantastic steak. The entranas is delicious and huge. Their empanadas are also delicious

This place rocks, Argentinian stuff all over the place. Best prices in town. Their Argentine style Breads are to kill for. Their meat selection is very good.

So our friends were having a BBQ and my wife fell in love with the marinated chicken. So it is from this place, so when her B-Day came around she requested the chicken from this place. So I went to pick some up and was impressed by the selection of latin foods on the shelfs. They had a good wine selection too. So I got the chicken and my wife said the marianted chicken was as good as when we had it at our friends house. She said its her new favorite thing. I want to go back and try the beef next.

They have vacio, mollejas, morcilla, and pretty good chorizos for your BBQ. Enough said–

Horrible! Well let me preface this by saying it’s a review for the restaurant that is inside. It use to be fantastic, cheap tacos with the most wonderful salsa, now you pay for service that is bad! yeah nice tables and actual plates instead of the paper ones from before but now tacos are $ 2 each soda is $ 2 each. The servers didn’t ask if we wanted onions or cilantro or salsa on our tacos they just add it. There was no extra salsa, no salsa bar, even pollo loco has a salsa bar. When I asked a server for extra salsa she pointed to tapatillo!!! TAPATILLO!!! OMG that’s not salsa, I love tapatilo as much as the next person but not on tacos! Not when obviously you are charging me for more than meat and tortillas! I would like some salsa! We waited 20 min before any of the servers finally asked us our order. And we got OVERCHARGED. Misc. items on receipt! i think i was charged for a basket of bread that i never ordered but was on the table as complimentary to wait for a server!!! AVOID at all costs.

Was in La Chiquita tonight. That meat department had a SPECTACULAR funk. I’m not eating anything that smells that bad!

La Chiquita is truly a diamond in the rough. This is the only Latino market in the SFV that actually caters to all walks of Latino life. As a Cuban-Spanish mutt it’s hard for me to find certain ingredients outside of ordering them online a majority of the time or if I do find them, they cost a small fortune. LA Chiquita will probably carry whatever specifically latino-cuisine item you’re looking for. They have everything from molcajetes and molinillos to Spanish chorizos actually imported from Spain. I’ve been coming here since I was a kid. Actually, I think the flags hanging over the front are older than I am. Pretty cool a little place like that can hold strong for so long and hold true to itself as an international latino market. Ya, it’s a little hard to find and ya, the area is a little seedy but the people that work in there are wonderful and really nice. I would, however, advise going with someone who speaks Spanish if you don’t. Definitely worth checking out. :)

Just as delicious as Palermo Deli! I love buying FRESH quality meats from La Chiquita in Northridge. They have a ton of imported foods/products from Sout and Central America. Its definitely not(in my opinion) in the best location because it can be difficult to find. But if you are on the other side of the city near La Chiquita, its definitely a quality place to purchase fresh food. It is located in a crappy small lot, but dont be scared of its appearance. You wont be disappointed because the food is great!
