Fat Cat Grill and Bar

Food was Great !! Waiter was Great told us the specials of the day, after me telling him it was our first time here explained the background of the place and everything !!! Downside prices are a little high !!! But definitely will go back!

These sour reviews are making me sad so I’ve come here to defend Fat Cat.
I have been working in the Norwich area for a month now, but have known the area for much longer. And I will be the first to admit, my impressions of Fat Cat were less than stellar for some obvious reasons (in a strip mall, ancient sign). But one night I was working late and needing dinner and decided to call and see if they did take out.
I got the Gorgonzola pasta salad. I have gotten it about 5 times since then and each time it’s unreal. I haven’t tried anything else there just yet but I plan to. I’ve consistently had good food and kind service when I’ve gone in.
My only reason for giving them ⁴⁄₅ is because I have consecutively ordered the same thing and thus cannot shed insight on any other menu items.
All in all, bless this placed for giving me a delicious salad when I’m hungry every week. See you Thursday at 4:00 ;)

So-​so pizza with bland crust. The spinach and shrimp salad is lousy. Service is ok and friendly.

Kitty’s Litter Box
Went to the Fat Cat on a Sat night and had some «kids» who want to play «grown up»
try and run a restaurant.
The first red flag was at 7: oo on a Sat night there was only six tables with people.
On a Sat. night in the fall this place should’ve been packed… it wasn’t
Second. When your dining rooms practically empty, dont sit the guest next to the
bus boy station.
Third. I love waiters and waitresses but please, I’m not going to a restaurant to talk to you. If you’d like to buy me dinner sometime just say so and we can talk then, otherwise be pleasant and concentrate on your job.
Then there was no room on the table.
Salads, bread, entrees all brought out within moments of eachother.
I’d give the food a 4 out of 10.
Two meals, two glasses of wine… 55. oo +
Hardly a meal fit for a king…
…but maybe for your Fat Cat pet.

If you’re in Norwich area for lunch or dinner this is the place to be! Skip the chain restaurants and fast food, the food here is exceptional, the atmosphere is lively, and the place is clean! During nice weather the patio is a great spot to enjoy conversation, drinks, and delicious food. Every time I go I try to go with a different dish that I haven’t had before but it’s so hard because you wish you could eat everything. Sometimes on a quick take out day I go for the pizza because my whole family loves the pizza. This is a nice family restaurant with family recipes that originate from Greece, the owners. Don’t even get me started on the deserts… i’m salivating just thinking about it.

Called for takeout because it was just TOO hot to cook, and as always, I was NOT disappointed. The antipasto salad was loaded with wonderful italian meats and cheeses… and since CHEESE is THE deciding factor for me at pizza places, that is important! There were plenty of kalamatas, and the veggies were freshly prepped. the Tomatoes weren’t as good as the ones in my garden right now, but I loved the vinaigrette… used their dressing and didn’t even think of grabbing my own homemade sitting on the counter! (did I mention I am picky?)
The two pizzas were definitely fresh out of the oven when I arrived, which was important, because I told them when I called I knew my drive was going to be slow due to a traffic snarl. The spinach gorgonzola pizza had just the right balance of both, and the sausage/​green onion pizza was just as tasty and balanced in flavors. I also have to compliment the staff. even though i wasn’t eating in, I was greeted with as friendly a smile as if I was staying… and that deserves a tip! I love the paninis too, but I’m so glad I didn’t order one for tomorrow’s lunch, because all the food we had leftover because the pizza & salad were filling was enough for TWO lunches tomorrow!

Stopped here for lunch I was not impressed with the looks of the place from the outside but the food was really good ! I got an burger with sweet potato fries and both were excellent ! My husband got a chicken sandwich which was huge and cooked perfect ! All ingredients and toppings were fresh and delicious including a heaping amount of avocado! Alcohol was a bit pricey but drinks were large. Our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable. Will have to stop here again on my way to Foxwoods !

Always very good food (almost always sit at the bar) very nice place great service but a bit pricey. I would recommend calling before you head there late as there hours seem to fluctuate.

One of my favorite lunch spots in Norwich. I’ve brought friends and family and always enjoyed. Ive enjoyed fish, pasta, soup, and eggplant park.
Portions are very generous and prices are competitive.
My favorite is the double wedge (of lettuce) with blue cheese crumbles. They are more than willing to leave off the bacon and add a few extra crumbles.
They also have a decent selection of beer.
The wait staff is courteous, prompt, and attentive.
The dining room and bar are clean and bright. Bathrooms too are clean.
If I have any issue it is that the music is consistently too loud. They will turn it down if you ask but one time they were unable to as the office was locked.

This the 4^th time going here & I will never go back. When it first opened I enjoyed some great food. But each return trip the food & service has gotton steadily worse. They should remove the word «Grill» from their name because they have NO grill. If you love greasy food or food drowning in butter sauce this is the place for you. The fish from the Fat Cat platter needed 2 napkins to soak up the grease. We sent it back when the waitress finally came back to check on us. We asked for a plain piece of fish, grilled and what we got was nastier than the fried version. It was a piece of fish covered with I’m not sure, swimming in butter or grease, still not sure of that. When we called the owner to the table to show her the 2^nd piece of fish, she informed me that nothing they cooked there would please us. Yup your right lady, I will never come near your place again. I will also tell all my friends not to come there either, no worries there!

The staff is always friendly. The food is very good and the deserts are fresh and very tasty.

William G. is on target… This place is AWFUL. No business having «Grill» in the name, BTW… It’s a pizza place w/​a bar & some noisy outside seating.
My mother wanted to take me out to lunch, & suggested we go there, sayng it was «great».
IT SUCKED.

So. The weather was nice, & we opted to sit outside. Okay. The tables w/​screaming kids were on the other end of the patio, & they left, eventually… THEN sombody came out to move all of the metal furniture *right next to us* by DRAGGING it across concrete, to arrange for a large party *right next to us*, though the other ½ of the patio had cleared out (easy to tell, they didn’t want to deal w/​THAT mess, right away).
WE were obviously in the way, & the person doing the work didn’t bother to say «Excuse me», as she scraped alongside us.
We (eventually) had a server, who was friendly enough… But the actual service was slow –we were an afterthought.
I got a lobster roll that was all stupid pickie legmeat w/​shells all in it –no good bits, & it was dry. You are IN NEW ENGLAND — MAKE A DECENT LOBSTER ROLL. I did not get the accompaniments advertised on the menu. By then, I just wanted to leave, & not wait 3 more years.
THEN the big «family party» settled in to the tables that had been moved all around us… Complete w/​totally obnoxious kids that ran all over the place. A SMART manager would have seated that party on the other end of the patio, which was empty — but needed cleaning. OH WELL.
Don’t do it, unless you have all your relatives & @ least 5 obnoxious kids w/​you… In which case, you ill LOVE this place.

Heard from bro how great this was… not a fan… Went there today with the wife for lunch. wife had a grinder and i had a Reuben. The grinder bread was stale and chewy. Definitely. yesterday’s bread. My Reuben was soggy and hardly toasted and meat had a weird taste… i would love to of said something to the waitress but she was nowhere to be found… when she finally did show up i had my card on the counter she just said you want me run this or do you want to see the bill… Ignored the fact that our food was not finished or that my wife ate all the insides to the grinder and left all the bread…
Long story short a disappointing experience…
I will give them the benefit of having a bad day and try them again on my own…
