The food was fine but the waitress that was serving me and someone else that I went with wasn’t putting her best foot forward. She was very cool instead of warm from the start, but why I don’t know. She only came about three times for the 1 ½ hours we were there, which was to greet us(which was just a hi, giving the menus, no name, very curt), give us our food, and give us our receipt. She didn’t even come once to check up on us, the food, to get the money, or to see if we wanted a refill. Meanwhile, she was so nice and warm to her regulars and such in such a way that I don’t really feel like I was welcome in the first place. Not to say race or age may have come into play, but after anyalzing and comparing the way she treated us vs the way she treated her other customers, it may have played a part. Bottom line, I was expecting better service, especially as a first timer. Probably won’t be coming back

Exceptional service. Weekday morning specials early in day. Reasonably priced throughout the day. Plenty of seating without a wait.

Nice clean breakfast place in downtown Norwood. Opens at 6am when everywhere else is closed. Had spinach skillet w English muffin and coffee. Skillet was hot a bit much cheese but delish not greasy. English muffin toasted and loads of butter. Not my choice but ok. Coffee was fresh and hot. Service was good. Waitress looked half asleep but I’m not mad at this hour of the day. Refills aplenty. Definitely a nice clean family place to sit back read the paper and enjoy. Norwood looks like a typical New England town. Go Pats.

I love this place. I come here as often as i can afford. Every time i do come here the service is excellent and prompt and the food is just as good. I’m the type to make wierd custom orders and they do it no problem and for a great price. Breakfast or lunch come by take a seat for a delicous meal.

Mug and Muffin was excellent, with a very breakfast diner feel. The skillets are tasty. Service was okay. I still Prefer Murph’s better, but it was nice to try a new spot.

Went here because we’re having a hard time finding something great! Food was quick, but not as flavorful as I would have liked. Wish the greeter had been my server, definitely lacked a certain amount of friendliness. The greeter refilled my coffee when the waitress was nowhere to be found. All in all just a mediocre place.

The food at this place is OK. Nothing special, maybe a few specialty options. The service is the reason why I rated it 2 stars. It took about 10 minutes for an employee to even speak to us let alone greet myself and the rest of my party(5). It was rather apparent that our server was more interested in people that she knew that were dining than take a drink/coffee order from us. The place is rather small and us being the largest group in the place I was confused. Larger groups= more money and the quicker you get them in and out the more people can sit. After grabbing a bus boy to order our juice/coffee etc the waitress finally came over and realized that we had our drinks, we promptly tried to order and she replied with a pretty nasty look. Once someone in our party was done ordering she then proceed to nearly shout saying«Ok who’s next, ok come on you aren’t ready?» Everyone is human but I worked in the service industry for over 6 years and needles to say I am pretty disappointed how we were treated. It seems like a lot of people from Norwood(locals) come here and that is great but if you want to have people return then you should show new guests the same courtesy you show all of your guests. This was not my first time eating here, unfortunately it will be my last I support local business but I am not going to waste my time and money at a place that doesn’t make their customers welcome.

This place is filthy. I’ve got food poisoning here twice. To use the restroom, you have to walk through the kitchen and storage area which are both dirty. Not to mention the service is awful. Waitresses are very rude to people who are not regulars. The only good thing is the low prices, but you may get sick so I wouldn’t go…

One of the last great diners. The hash stuffer is the thing dreams are made of. Great service, great atmosphere, amazing food. MA. Needs to hold onto gems like this.

All I can say is… I am surprised the health inspector hasn’t shut this place down. Food is mediocre at best… and my opinion even got worse… I needed to use the restroom, to get there, I had to actually walk through the kitchen(not sanitary to have customers in the restaurant’s kitchen… the kitchen itself did not look terry clean… and the women’s bathroom… disgusting…I have used bathrooms in China that were holes in the ground and those were cleaner than this bathroom… I was disgusted and will never go back

The food is pretty standard. I’d say if you are a local you’d probably skew the star rating higher because everyone in the place seemed to know each other. I’d agree with the post that your grandmother would love the place, but that is also pretty standard comment for a dinner. They have early bird breakfast specials for $ 3.95 but are reasonably priced across the board.

I grew up in Norwood and this was the place we always went to for breakfast and sometimes lunch. I am still in love with the mug and make the 20 minute drive from Newton 1 day a week to some have breakfast here. Great food, great service, familiar faces and cheap! My husband and I cannot go to breakfast anywhere near our home and get away with paying under $ 20 or even $ 30 for the 2 of us… at the mug we can each get coffee and a full breakfast(he sometimes gets juice too) for less than $ 20EVERYTIME, INCLUDINGTIP! I love the mug– you will too! PS: Skillet breakfasts are phenomenal.

I have had many weekend breakfasts at the Mug-N-Muffin. The price is reasonable and the food is tasty and comes quickly. The atmosphere is nothing spectacular and the friendliness of the waitstaff is hit or miss, but ultimately when I’m just looking for a weekend breakfast served by someone else this place fits the bill. Tasty things I’ve tried over the years: banana bread french toast, eggs Florentine, breakfast sandwiches, etc. I’ve never been for lunch, but I did once have breakfast with a toddler there who enjoyed her hot dog and fries. ;o)

I was not particularly impressed with my breakfast at Mug-N-Muffin. I almost feel bad giving it 2 out of 5 stars because it seems a bit low on the scale, but the associated Unilocal phrase, «Meh, I’ve experienced better» really does suit my experience. Walked in on a Saturday morning at around 830am. The restaurant had a lot of customers but I had no problem getting a table. Waitress was friendly and polite and listed a few favorites when I said it was my first time there. I opted for the French toast with bananas. The food came out very quickly — I was impressed — and tasted fine. Presentation was kind of lacking and there isn’t much charm to the ambiance(dark wood furniture on a thin, dark green carpet). I also couldn’t help but be distracted by the two cooks that stand in plain view at the back of the room via the open kitchen, talking to each other quietly while staring out at the crowd. Those aesthetic criticisms aside, I give this place thumbs up for speedy service, decent pricing and polite staff. I don’t expect to return for a while, though, especially given the other breakfast options in Norwood Center(Sunrise Breakfast, for example).

Your grandmother will love Mug-n-muffin. There are a lot of senior citizens there, it’s heavy on the country décor and they have raisin bread. The food is ok– I found it to be too very ordinary and a bit bland but there are a lot of choices on the menu and the portions are large. Prices are very reasonable too. The staff is very friendly and attentive. They also have a large parking lot so parking is never a problem.

Eh. This place has no ambiance and the food is just okay. When I went, there was an air conditioner leak(or some other sort of leak) dropping just behind my chair and when I said something about it I got something like«well that really does stink!» Thank for agreeing and next time please move me to another table. Oh and the food was not good. I don’t even think I finished it all. Unless I’m stuffed, I’ll tell you all right now, I’m a person who finishes her breakfast! Keep on walking, there’s lots of great breakfast in Norwood. Mug-N-Muffin isn’t one of them.
