I checked out this place just right before Christmas. Their hours are not fixed so call before stopping by. The menu items are very limited. But this tiny take-out mom and pop BBQ joint is friendly. I ordered a brisket plate and fried chicken wings. The individual cupcake size corn bread were great!

Pretty sure this place is closed. Went there at 7:30PM on a Friday night. All the lights were on but it looked abandoned and said it was closed.

Was in the mood for BBQ, was in the vicinity of Norwood and saw this place as positively reviewed on Unilocal.Let’s just say that when you walk into the place, looks can be deceiving. They have two small tables near the entrance, a counter and no posted menu. When I first walked in I thought I was in the wrong place. But once you get past the aesthetics, you’ll find a solid BBQ take out place. The two gentlemen working inside were incredibly friendly and brought a nice touch of southern hospitality to the ordering experience. It definitely reminded me of soul food spots I’ve hit while on travel in the south. I ordered the pull pork sandwich and some fried chicken. The pork was moist and tender and their homemade BBQ sauce was on point. Their fried chicken is amazing and had a really unique blend of seasoning. They challenged me to guess the secret ingredient, I don’t have a clue but whatever it is, it works. They seem to make everything to order so call ahead if you don’t like to wait.

Went to this restaurant twice — it appears to be closed — like no longer in business ??? Would like to know. Had fried chicken dinners to go last week and it was great. FYI — closed on Sunday’s & Monday’s I think.

My wife and I went there on July 3. We both ordered a pulled pork sandwich and a corn muffin. I also wanted fries, but they were out. The sandwich was excellent. We both decided that we would order that again. But corn muffin was as stale as they come; hard as a rock. We had no idea when they were made, but it had been awhile. We both want to got back and try them again.

I just discovered this hidden gem which is bout 2 miles from where I live. The owner is Stephanie who is a chef and from North Carolina. I sampled a few items today on the menu and people this cooking is the real deal! My mama is from the south and we would visit my granmama in South Carolina. I lived down south also. I have not had any food that rivaled my families cooking. The food is amazing!!! And, the sweet tea is delicious. For anyone that knows southern cooking this is the place to visit. I will be frequenting this place often! It is no frills and it is a honky tonk so do not expect any décor. Northeners do not understand a place like this but anyone who knows southern culture will appreciate the cooking.

I had such high hopes for this place! I ordered my food to go, anticipating a delicious dinner at home, but was very disappointed with the food. The flavor of the chicken was just NOT good, all the flavor was imparted by the oil it had been fried in(and from that I could tell that the oil hadn’t been changed recently) — the chicken had no seasoning on it at all! Nothing even moderately good to say about the two sides I ordered either. The candied yams were dry and tasted only of sugar, no other recognizable spices/seasonings and the mac and cheese had no flavor either and was rubbery! Look elsewhere for a good fried chicken meal, because you certainly won’t get it from here. How did it get 4 plus stars?

I’d been having a craving for fried chicken, and this place satisfied it! The restaurant wasn’t quite what I had been expecting. I called ahead to make a reservation. When I got there, I saw that they had just 2 – 3 tables, hardly any décor, and no customers dining. What I quickly discovered is that this is mainly a take-out joint. That said, the restaurant staff were friendly, attentive, and welcoming, and service was flawless. Best of all, the food was delicious. My fried chicken was crispy, not greasy, on the outside, and juicy and flavorful on the inside, as it should be. The collard greens that I ordered were delicious, cooked with a bit of pork. My side of potato salad was also outstanding, with a hint of sweet pickle and spice. Finally, the banana pudding that I had for desert was delicious. This is a great place for a taste of good Southern home cooking.

I love this little hole-in-the-wall gem. I get takeout from there almost any time I’m in Norwood. The pulled pork is outstanding.

Well im. waiting for my food(fried chicken and potato salad) the chicken is made to order. The place is dingy but I don’t see. any creepy crawlies. Some folks are eating and really like the food. I can deal with the amateurs setting if the food is great… more to follow. OK I got home and ate the chicken. .average at best. not bad but just average. The potato salad was .how should I put it. FUNKY” as in a day or two from turning you into a dihareah nightmare. I wanted to give this place the benefit of doubt. but it was a total miss. I won’t be back!

Fantastic food! Best pulled pork sandwich ever! Ribs and fried chicken are outstanding, too. Great desserts and full selection of sides. It is our go-to place for barbeque. Folks there are amazing… not much room for eat-in so we always do take-out.

Like others have said, my socks were blown off. The two guys working here are incredibly laid back and make you feel as comfortable as they can. We got two pulled pork sandwiches and the fried chicken. The pulled porks were out of this world. Best I’ve had, probably because of the homemade BBQ sauce that the steaming hot pork was slathered in. I finished mine in under ninety seconds, maybe even under a minute, it was that good. Chicken was good but I wouldn’t get again just because there’s better options. Also tried the Mac an cheese and cornbread, both pretty good. Really can’t believe this place has been here for so long, I can’t wait to go back and try the ribs. Definitely give this place a shot if you’re looking for some good BBQ.

SOULFOOD in NORWOOD!!! Are you kidding!!! And they’ve been here for 4 years?! After getting over the shock of this fact, I rushed over and got a great deal on some great food. I just finished a pulled pork sandwich and it was excellent. Sweet sauce. Big deli bun. And a HUGE portion of pulled pork. Very friendly staff who loves what they do and it shows in their food. I highly recommend for anyone who wants REALBBQ/soul food. North Carolina style. Be prepared for a treat!

(4) ~ very good food & service. FINALLY a place that serves BBQ«Spare» Ribs & not the smaller«Baby Backs» & «St. Louis» style. For those not familiar with BBQ Spare(Pork) Ribs, they are about 4x larger than Baby Backs &2x larger than St. Louis style. To get technical it’s basically the St. Louis Cut with the Rib Tips still attached. But either way, just(4) of them Spare Ribs will fill you up good and plenty;)lol MYMENU: * BBQ Spare(Pork) Ribs Platter w.(2) sides & a corn bread muffin =(4) very good. Came with(4) Spare Ribs w. their homemade BBQ Sauce. SIDES: * Candy Yams =(4) very good * Mac-n-Cheese =(3.5) good * Corn Bread Muffin =(3) ok DRINK: * Southern Sweet Iced Tea =(4) very good DESSERT: * Lemon Meringue Pudding =(3.5) good… but wanted to try the Banana Pudding, which was sold out:( NOTES: Yes, they take Credit Card. And it’s set up more for Take-out, but you can eat-in if you can find a seat given the small dining area. There were two x(2) person tables and two x(4) person tables. So, it’s definitely cozy, but there’s a TV;) Street Parking only. My recommendation would be to Call in a Take-out order, given the limited seating, unless you can go during«non-busy» times to eat there;)

This has been my favorite BBQ sauce I’ve ever tasted at a restaurant! Great BBQ sandwiches, pulled pork and good Mac and cheese. I will totally be back again!!! Reasonably priced for BBQ and it was easy to park right out front.

My brother-in-law has been to this place and loved it, and he’s a real foodie. Great ribs, fish and friendly service. I live in Norwood and didn’t even know this place was there! The sign looks like it could be a pastry shop or day spa. NOTETOOWNERS: get yourselves a neon sign that says, «SOULFOOD» and I’m sure your business would double overnight. But I’m coming soon regardless.

I go through food«phases» where I am just hooked on something and want it constantly(no, I am not pregnant). My latest phase is the mac & cheese at SOS’s. If you need a little pick-me-up after a rough day, grab a small container for about $ 2.40. Or two. They don’t judge. Tonight, I made an amazing discovery when I walked in an saw an assortment of gorgeous cakes and cupcakes. I felt my stomach say to my brain«GETMETHAT» and a giant piece of german chocolate cake came home with me. It was AWESOME. Next time, I am getting the coconut(or maybe both. once again, they don’t judge).

Went here recently for an impromptu lunch with one of my good friends. None of us had ever been and didn’t really know what to expect from this modest establishment. We were greeted by a friendly owner who sold me on trying their ribs. I ordered up a rack, a small side of collared greens($ 2.25) and a bottle of water. My friend settled for a pulled pork sandwich($ 7.50), and we sat, waiting for our food. Minutes later it arrived on a tray, and we dug right in. The ribs were outstanding. Meaty, delicious. Where did they get that recipe? Heaven? It was all very delicious, and the generous portions made it very difficult to finish. Their desserts were very tempting but with no room to spare, I’ll save that for my next visit. The service was very friendly, pretty quick, and the atmosphere is very laid back. There aren’t a lot of tables there, and they can only sit about 10 people(on a good day) so takeout might be a better option but we went in the middle of the afternoon so we decided to sit instead. They do accept credit card payments via Square and also offer rewards through there as well. All in all, this place is awesome and hopefully here to stay. It’s a welcomed addition to Norwood area where BBQ joints are non-existent. There’s plenty of street parking as well.

When ordering, the man at the front said the ribs would knock my socks off. After I got done eating I went to go buy new socks. The sweet tea was really good as well, and had a little more than a hint of honey. The food reminds me of stuff I would get down in the south were I was raised, and that’s a good thing since there doesn’t seem to be much in the way of southern comfort food around here. Food was good, everyone was really friendly, and the place was nice and relaxed and a pleasure to stay and eat.
