Been coming here since I was a little kid. Their ribs are honestly the best around. They take fall off the bone to another level. Service can be a little iffy depending on who’s working but that’s everywhere. Owner and son are very welcoming and friendly. This place really makes for a nice spot in town to bring the fam or enjoy a beer with the boys. FYI They’re always rotating tap beers which is a dream come true for us beer snobs. They’ve kept quality for years, which is hard to do!

I like this place a lot. Food is really good at affordable prices. I’ve never been there personally, cause I order from the Seamless App, but they’re always on time and they never miss up my order. Highly recommend it.

Best ribs and barbecue, I’ve found around. Might not want to go on nights they have live music. Ribs are fall off the bone.

Love this place. Great burger and specialty fries. Delivery was fast and the delivery guy was great. My apartment is a little hard to get to and he had no issue with calling and asking for directions. Got a tex mex burger and a gourmet burger with the disco fries. Great jalapeños and the bacon is fantastic.

My girlfriend and I were so happy with Jim Dandy’s. We came on a Monday night, so they had a special full rack of ribs for the price of a half rack. When you walk in, you order at the counter and then take a seat. We split a full rack and disco fries. The ribs were absolutely amazing. Real BBQ ribs, not just lathered in BBQ sauce like a lot of fake imitation barbecue food. Tender, falling off the bone deliciousness. The service was super friendly and also pointed out that they have a bar in a separate room that looked cool with dart boards and televisions. Will be back when I’m craving BBQ for sure!

I ordered about $ 52 worth of food for some monday night football and not to mention my 7 month old was super cranky so we needed something quick and easy to pick up. When I walked in the counter guy was super friendly and offered the special they had going on for monday which is «a full rack of rips for the price of half» so i went for it. We ordered some bonless wings, chicken tenders and fries and some onion rings. Everything was cooked to perfection. Ribs fell right off the bone, chicken was perfect with great tasting honey mustard and the bbq sauce is to die for. Onion rings were good, fries were a bit soggy but that was due to us not eating right them right away. The boneless wings were just a bit over cooked with the sauce but still good. We will be going back. They also deliver!

Terrible ribs. Garlic bread was flat stale and had no taste. Highly overrated from the reviews that I’ve seen. I just wasted $ 24 on ribs that I could’ve bought from the freezer at stop and shop. Avoid this place.

I made an impromptu visit as I was in a wingy mood on a Thursday evening. I walked into the restaurant side(there’s a bar on the other side full of older men) and it wasn’t clear whether I should sit and wait for service, so I eventually found the counter and ordered 6 bbq and 6 hot wings. They were brought out to me and they were average wings, though I did appreciate the symmetrical presentation with the two different types of wings divided by celery. The wings overall were crispy, a little dry at times, and a few times a little too chewy. Both the bbq sauce and hot wing sauce were familiar and generic. If I went back, I would try their bbq ribs, but I’m not going to go back.

The overall experience is 5⁄5. We came here on a limb. All we knew is that this was rated the second best around the area. We ordered the bbq wings which were delicious! The bbq stocked within your fingers that you have to suck all of it. Then we received the main entrees which were the BBQ bacon burger and ½ chicken rack. The appearance: great. The flavor: 4.5÷5. The fries :5/5. I honestly wish that I ordered the full rack of ribs. Great casual spot. Not noisy. And great hosts !

Decided to have a family dinner tonight. Glad we choose Jim Dandy. First off very clean, set up well and well lit. As far as atmosphere they were playing 80s hits that the family really enjoyed. The thing that really impressed me be sides the food. Was the way the staff treated my kids. The gentleman treated my 2 and 4 year old like family. Which I always worry how a staff will treat younger kids. No worries here. Then there is the food we got the Monday rack special. You get the full rib rack for the cost of the half rack with 2 sides, and garlic bread. The ribs are so tender you can cut them with a fork. The kids loved there hot dogs. All and all a great place for the family.

«Racist… That’s all I have to say, so disappointing. I’ve never had such a disgusting waiter like I did tonight, the service my brother and I received was so cold. The waiter had the nerve to tell my brother, you can bring your gf ice tea, he said that with no hint of joking around, he’s my brother although he is much darker than me, the waiter even had the nerve not to bring us our food, he refused to serve us our food, we had to go up to get it, next to us was a couple of white girls, with no problem he bought it to them, my brother just kept mentioning how uncomfortable he felt there, and all eyes were on us, never again, if you are Hispanic, beware of this place, regardless we still left a tip. «personal review from a friend just from a few minutes ago.

Alright, here’s the deal. Their food? Fantastic. Really. And more importantly, it’s consistent. I’ve ordered the same thing numerous times(always a rack of ribs with buffalo wings to split with the bf) and it’s always great. The ribs are outstanding and their prices are pretty fair. So if I was reviewing the place based solely on their food? 5 stars, easy. However, I just couldn’t bring myself to give 5 stars based on the fact that the employees really need to consider how they act towards the customers. Everyone kind of needs an overall attitude adjustment. And look, I get it! Food service isn’t the most fun job there is. But it’s no excuse to act sour. I almost exclusively order takeout because every time I go to sit and eat there, I just don’t feel welcome. I was tempted to give 3 stars based on all this but I felt it would be a little harsh. Hopefully something changes there.

Succulent ribs! And that is pretty much what Jim Dandy’s should stick to. Here is why: The pulled pork sandwich had a good amount of pork but it wasn’t juicy or particularly tender where I can say I wanted more and more and more ! The sauce just didn’t do it for me! In addition, it lacked good amount of smokiness. When I had the bbq chicken I thought it was overcooked and lacked flavor. I only kept eating because I was hungry ! Other fall backs were the chili, Mac and cheese and baked potato. The Chili didn’t have real beans in it. It must have been liquified-Not my fave. Mac & cheese was ehh! Dry and pale. Bake potato over cooked and dry! Try Wendy’s instead.

BBQ is not an easy business to run. It takes a long time to prepare, requires a great deal of attention and generally, people are just picky about it. That said, BBQ delivery is an even harder business to run. Based on my one and only experience with Jim Dandy’s, BBQ is not their problem. The ribs were outstanding and fell right off the bone just like everyone else has said. The only problem with them is they were cold upon being delivered. This isn’t a huge deal, but when you just throw them in styrofoam and don’t wrap them in foil first, loss of heat should be expected. This place really should just stick to ribs. The sides aren’t worth it. The person over the phone told us the fries weren’t fresh and that the mac and cheese wasn’t like Kraft. Not really. It was exactly like Kraft, only inside a breaded triangle. And also frozen. We noticed right away they forgot the baked potato, yet they packed butter and sour cream. When I called to tell them they forgot it, they actually asked if we still wanted it. Unbelievable. One hour later it arrived, without apology, and as Nathaly V. pointed out, she’s had better from Wendy’s.

Ordered this a couple of days ago to go with the first game oh the NFL season! I absolutely love the ribs in this place. Fall off the no-bone tender and the sauce is really tasty. We also got the roast chicken to prep for this important day. All I can say about it is that it was okay. Nothing special but not bad. I definitely recommend coming here but I can only trek you to get the ribs since they’re delicious. Also, another plus about this place is that the food comes out pretty quickly.

Cliquey, Awkward for first timers. Upon walking into the establishment for the first time, there is no real direction. Patrons stare at you as if you’re from another planet, you can’t readily tell the workers apart from patrons, and there is no one to greet you — you’re pretty much expected to know what to do/where to go. The concept of walking up to the counter to order your food is fine as long as you realize that is what you’re supposed to do, after finding the seat of your choice — that is if you don’t get the awkward stare down from the people at the nearest table. The food itself was just okay. The piece of wood in my sandwich made me lose my appetite after I was half way through it, and everything was just a bit too greasy. Many people love to come for the«famous ribs», which I haven’t tried, and I can’t say that I’d be in a rush to return any time soon. Perhaps we will see Jim Dandy’s on Restaurant Stakeout one day soon.

I can’t help but give Jim Dandy’s a great review. The food is fantastic! The wings are meaty and crisp, and the ribs are falling off the bone. The prices are fair, and they have a bar next door for anyone who wants to wash down their meal with a beer. Yet, it’s a family place that’s clean and lively enough for the kids. The service could always be better, but I didn’t walk in here expecting a fine dining experience. That’s not why you go to Jim’s. You go for the food, plain and simple.

This place is a quick cheap OK place to go pick up some barbeque in Nutley. There is nothing fancy about this place. So if you lower your expectations going in, you won’t be disappointed. Nothing I’ve ever eaten has stood out enough to mention, good or bad. Now the mudhole bar attached — plain and simple is a shit hole. Its dark, dirty and I find the clientele creepy at best.
