Once again, this is just our experience. Interesting setting. It seems like it used to be an office building? The interior reminded me of a nursing home or hospital cafeteria with it’s white walls and minimal décor. They sat us in the corner(three or so booths behind the register). The dirty dish dump was right behind us and loud. They did not offer a high chair but we didn’t ask for one either. The waitress was nice at first and was very friendly to the regulars around us. Us, not as much. Our children’s food was extremely hot. Yes we know cooked food is hot, but it was intense. The food was ok. From the scribbled«bill» it looks like they charged me $ 1 for verde salsa on my burrito. It was then covered with cheese, masking and concealing the taste. My wife’s steak(carne asada?) was quite tough and chewy. The food again was ok. Nothing amazing but good. The waitress was attentive until the bill came. She put down a scribbled«bill» with the tax, which I believe was exactly $ 5.which seemed odd. It was quite expensive. She brought out thier pay at the table tablet and stood OVER me as she first showed me the TIP screen. Several pre set % already pulled up. I did see where you could set your own amount but that wasn’t the issue. It was she was standing over me and the«in your face» high tip rates. The lowest was 15%. Which I paid and will pay much more when appropriate. But the Ritz, this place is not. The tablet never showed the itemized price per items and my receipt, which she was reluctant to get, did not show the itemized items either. I really got the feeling they are up charging people. And with the older customers, it seems it maybe a fast and easy way to make a few extra bucks. If that’s not the case PRINTOUTITEMIZEDBILLS! Don’t «even out» tax amounts on your scribbled«bill.» And always bring a receipt! No need to pay this much for food and suspect billing.

One of the best for Mexican food! Very attentive servers, and always clean; even the restrooms are fresh and clean! Hot food and a variety in margarita flavors!

Lived in O’Fallon for 15 years. Visited on a recommendation from several friends. Scott was a great bartender with wonderful suggestions and we were not disappointed. Best food since San Antonio. Highly recommend top shelf margarita and pork tacos.

My BFF and I went there for the first time a couple weeks ago and had a great experience. We had about a 15 minute wait, so we scoped out the bar and ordered delicious margaritas. On a Saturday night we got the medium size for $ 5 bucks and they will let you pay for it at the end with your meal. Just don’t forget to tip the bartender before you go! Our server was very sweet and patient. She went over the specials and answered all of our questions and gave us another round of time to think. I went with the special which was shrimp and chorizo in a tortilla, kinda like a quesadilla. It was so so good! My friend had the fajitas with steak and i thought the steak was very good, not tough or over cooked. Can’t wait to go back!

Legit Mexican food out in the county. All day chilaquiles(breakfast) that were clear your nose spicy made us a fan. The tacos ate authentic and flavorful. Only bad thing is they don’t serve horchata. Oh and don’t get turn off by a full waiting room, they turn over tables so well.

No other Mexican restaurant in the area can remotely measure up to El Tio. Both locations have great service, quick hot food, and extremely affordable. Staff are always welcoming and helpful when it comes to menu selections as well. Margaritas are phenomenal and half price on Wednesday! Beer specials are on Tuesday. Meat and produce is always fresh. Also, LOVE the fact that I can buy chips and salsa to enjoy at home. It can be busy any day of the week but well worth the wait!

My local go-to casual Mexican place. Friendly service, quick, prices are very fair, and half price Margaritas on Wednesdays(although you might want to get there early-they fill up quickly and the wait can sometimes be long on Wed nts). Salsa is good and even their mild sauce is on the spicy side; but ask for the hot salsa if you like it hot. Support local and enjoy. P. S. — Don’t forget that this is a casual establishment that you will be fine going in your t-shirt and jeans and the turn in for the restaurant is on an outer road parallel to I-70 West bound and is easy to miss with only one entry and exit turn in to the lot.

Excellent Mexican food. Friendly, attentive, staff. Will eat here again and again. Food varies depending on who’s in the kitchen, but it’s the difference between good and great.

Awesome food and even better service! My boyfriend suggested this place based on reviews and for the first time in our almost 6 year relationship I actually agreed to a place of his choosing. Yes, I’m that indecisive girlfriend. Anyways, I’m glad I did! We went tonight for our second time(a busy Friday night) and happened to get the same server as our first visit, Gabby. She recognized us almost immediately which was pretty impressive, she seems to be quite popular with the regulars and for good reason. She’s quick, accurate, on top of everything! We wasted no time emptying the bowls of chips and salsa, crispy chips and very flavorful salsa. On the second round they bring you a decanter of salsa(yes!!!). Ordered guac as well, fresh and simple. I had Tacos Mexicanos, includes 3 street tacos with your choice of pork, steak or chicken or even one of each. I chose one of each, all so flavorful and juicy, definitely a good choice! Boyfriend had steak chunk chimichanga. He’s a bit of a chimi connoisseur, loved and devoured it. All in all we love this place, it’s quaint and tasty with very friendly staff! It doesn’t look like much on the outside and if you blink you’ll miss the entrance but looks can be and are deceiving, give this place a try! We will definitely be regulars.

This is the best Mexican restaurant in MO! Extremely good service, fantastic margaritas, and delicious chips and salsa. I order a cheese enchilada and bean burrito every time, and they bring it out in 5 min. Love this place.

This place has been around along time and I have never eaten here before, due to the fact that I just started eating real Mexican food! I am the girl that has gone to Mexico several time and lost weight! After working in St Charles, il an getting the«real» stuff I am not a lover of Mexican food! And boy am I glad we stopped in here! Waitstaff was great and the food as you can see in the pics was very tasty!!! Looking forward to our next visit! They have beer specials on Tuesday and margaritas on Wednesday nite!

Now tthis is what a marquritta should be! And it only gets better. You walk in and you are greeted by smiling faces and staff eager to make your dining experience enjoyable, even when you have to wait for a seat. The food does not come out in five minutes, they take some time and turn out some of the best Mexican food in St. Louis area. Moving here from the South West i thought i would never eat food this good unless i went home. Well, i have a new home here.

This was very bland Mexican food. The rice had no flavor and the white cheese sauce was very runny. I know there are lots of Mexican places to try around St. Louis so I will keep trying others. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

Restaurant has been a favorite of ours for our wedding aniversary for a few years. It is ALWAYS crowded, but the food is satisfying and the alcohol drinks are satisfying. If the atmosphere was less crowded(tables are tight fitting) a five star would be warranted.

We hadn’t been here in several years and I really can’t explain why. We decided to give it a try and it was excellent! We went to the bar because there was a short wait and my wife and I ordered a couple of Top Shelf Margaritas. They were absolutely fantastic, as was the second round that we ordered at the table. I had fajitas and my wife had enchiladas and both entrees were very good. I ordered guacamole and it was certainly freshly prepared and didn’t have that pre-made«shine» to it. Really, really, good!

I stop by here on a regular basis to enjoy some great food. Staff is always friendly and attentive. The dishes they feature are prepared well and always hit the spot. It does get a little crowded at dinner time all week so be prepared to wait during the busy hours. The other thing I really like about this restaurant is the Tequila selection available at the bar. A great range of types and brands that is not commonly found even at other Mexican restaurants. Try the 3 G’s(tres generaciones añejo by Sauza) its my favorite and should be yours too.

I love when a place knows me and half the staff here seems to. This is my comfort place, with food that’s always right. It has great service, great food and great margaritas. It might not be like the Mexican on Cherokee Street but every girl needs a local Mexican bar that loves her as much as she loves it. El Tio Pepe is my kind of place.
