This is going to be a very unusual review of a fast food joint, at least for me. The food was some of the best… but the service was so horrible, it ruined everything. I actually went out of my way to get Popeye’s…it had been at least three years since I had any, and at a different location(on 82nd in PDX). The team member was rude from the gitgo, as I was inquiring about the price of the popcorn shrimp in the drive thru. She didn’t respond the first time, and then I asked again, and she said: «So you want two of them?» I said, no I want to know what the popcorn shrimp by itself costs, not in a dinner or combo. She says I asked twice. Getting into an argument without even answering my question… so I had to «clarify» which means I basically asked a third time before I got an answer out of Karin F. I ordered a three piece Spicy Chicken meal with coleslaw and a side of Jambalaya. She asked if I wanted regular or spicy, and I repeated spicy. When I got to the window, there was no greeting, just her hand out to collect my credit card. She swiped it, handed it back and told me to wait in the hot sun in the parking lot for my order. No indication of how long the wait… she disappeared from the window. 11 minutes later she basically comes running out and throws the bag of food through my window, and running off saying Sorry it was so late… as I was yelling back«Where’s my water???» She pretended not to hear. Had to go back in, wait three minutes to get someone’s attention for a cup of water, that I had to help myself to… while the inside line was growing because a deaf customer was having immense difficulties explaining what she wanted in her meal. I took my food to a shaded area of the parking lot to consume… and there was no fork… I was not going back in that place. I had other things to do, so when I got home I tossed the cole slaw. The popcorn shrimp was tasty and the chicken was clearly fresh out of the fryer… like I said great food but such nasty ass service from an antagonistic amazingly rude employee, that I won’t be making a return visit under any circumstances(unless Popeye’s calls me and says she’s fired! haha) It’s one thing to be slow, or make an honest mistake, or even act bored… but this woman was over the top awful… obviously to the degree that I had to write this novella of a Unilocal review. I did call in my feedback to the number on the back of the receipt. My «reward» is two free pieces of chicken and biscuit with purchase of a large drink… the problem is I would have to redeem this offer at the same store! No way. Oh, and the jambalaya was delicious. So the takeaway here is if you like fried chicken and southern comfort food and don’t care how atrocious the wait or customer service is, don’t hesitate to visit the Oak Grove Popeye’s.

I’m giving this place five stars for one reason: delicious food. The chicken tenders were so crispy and warm, and the best I’ve ever tasted. The biscuits — my mouth waters just thinking about them! Buttery, salty, mmmm! Best ever! Unfortunately, the kids meal menu only comes up every 15 minutes and when it does, you only have 30 seconds to look. The good does take a while but if you eat in like I did, that gives you time to talk. Yummmm!

Over the years I’ve watched the size of chicken pieces get smaller and smaller, beginning to wonder if these should be cage free birds… So for Mothers Day we had Popeyes Chicken and boy I’ve never had such small legs and wings… I thought I was eating a Dove…

Got the chicken dinner 5pc for $ 11, 3pc dinner was $ 10 so I’d opt for more for $ 1. Pecan pie, all the sauces and sweet tea w/lemon. Good food, little expensive. =]

I am not much of a fast food person, I’ll admit, but after years of tempting commercials and friends telling me I had to try Popeye’s, it seemed only a matter of time that I should check out the one on McLoughlin. Big mistake. Forget the wait; they told me it would be a few minutes to fry up my order. NBD. I was surprised to see how pricy the menu was. All the ads make it seem like you can actually get something for $ 3.99. I found the cheapest thing I could on the menu for $ 5.69. It was a nugget dinner with a side(onion rings for me) and a biscuit. Price does not include drink. The menu is very confusing, as it lists«dinners» and«combos»(= dinner + drink), but the pricing lines up under the wrong heading, so it’s tough to figure out what you’re getting and what you’re paying for. I’ll give them credit — what they call nuggets are just smaller versions of tenders, instead of reformulated chicken bits. And the portions are huge. But aside from that, the food just tastes like crap. I mean, really awful. There is no human I can recommend this food to. The chicken and the onion rings had the same extra thick batter on them, but they were fried up so hard it tore up the roof of my mouth to eat them. There was no discernible chicken or onion flavor, just batter. And while I appreciate the fresh fry, I don’t appreciate food so hot it burns me. And the chicken was so chewy I thought for a second they gave me the wrong order and had mistakenly given me over cooked, rubbery shrimp instead, but no. The biscuit was a nice, salty morsel, but I got the distinct impression it was fried too. My stomach is not at all happy about my choice today. Don’t make it your choice.

Second time it has taken over 30 minutes in drive thru to get food… And this was a small order!

The chicken was hard and dry, much like the customer service. The cook didn’t seem to follow the managers instructions as she was trying to keep the food orders running. And the cashier was having a hard time multi tasking through the orders.

After trying the new location 5 months ago, thought I’d give it one more try. Not good and still pricey. Eating the 3 chicken tenders did bring back childhood memories of my mom’s leftover cold fried fish. Doubt I’ll be back.

waited for 30 minutes for our order. entertaining though watching everyone wait for their orders. the ones that were stoned dealt better. some poor kids who were already waiting when we sat down got served just after we got our order. we told them as we left part of their order had been sitting waiting for over 10 minutes. not under heat lamps. bottom line, this place is a freaking joke. bad service, tons of excuses, no manager busting heads or apologizing to customers, cold food, tiny sides for $ 2.59(that size gets you approx 4 bites) and no sauces or extras were offered! oh and there is no parking anywhere near the entrance door. parking is in the back. maybe when they get it together it might be better experience. doubt that will happen though.

Were excited to try Popeyes for the first time. Went through the drive thru and ordered an 8 piece family meal with chicken tenders with mashed potatoes and 4 rolls. Got all the way home and opened our boxes to find 4 pieces of bone-in chicken, a small mashed potatoes, and 2 rolls. WILLNOTBEBACK.

My family and I had been really excited to go to the new Popeyes chicken in Oak Grove. Finally, tonight we went and… we were so disappointed. First of all, they are very expensive. We found that the outside of the biscuits are so salty, they were hard to eat even with honey. The seasoned fries were cold and rubbery and onion rings were cold as well. The chicken was ok but super salty too. We all agreed that the sodas were the best part of the meal.

Very disappointed! They forgot to pack my large side order with family pack. I called and was told I can come and pick up a «free» large side any time. But how is it free if I paid for it and now have to go out of my way to get it? Plus I ordered ½ mild and ½ spicy and only received mild:(Please get it together guys!

Happy Popeyes’s opened new location. 2nd time there. Chicken is good. Problem is wrong side orders(again) and also twice asked for jelly for biscuits and once home there were none! Hoping things settle once the newness wears off.

Finally open. Great food but I waited 20 mins for just one combo. The line for dinner is crazy.
