They were rude and impatient when I ordered my food, and to make matters worse, I waited 20 minutes after I places my order in the drive thru before I got tired of waiting gave up and decided to just leave and go somewhere else. If you are in Stillwater and are thinking of stopping at this White Castle, just keep driving to one of the other locations in St. Paul. You will get your food a heck of a lot faster(and I am including the drive time from Stillwater to St. Paul). Pathetic!

I love this place! my favorite food anytime, also very affordable. The cheese burgers and fries where fresh and the service was quick also the tables where very clean. They had a tv to watch while waiting for my guest.

Honestly, this is more of a nostalgic review for me. As someone who lives in the KC area(and who lived over 6 years in California), I haven’t even seen a White Castle in over 15 years. I decided I had to have it when I was in MN visiting my in-laws. The burgers were as I remembered them. Cheap, a little greasy, but you know what you’re getting. The cheese fries were surprisingly decent(much better than that plastic cheese like Sonic has on theirs). They got our order right and left the onions off of my sliders, so that’s a big plus. Don’t know that I’ll be in a hurry to go again, but it was very tasty and brought back childhood memories.

I have lived in the Twin Cities nearly my entire life, over 50 years. I spent 7 years out west. We did not have White Castles or anything similar there. Sure, there were the McD’s, BK’s, Carls Jr. places. But White Castle is in a category of its own. Sure, it is fast food. But a slider is a slider. There is Krystal Burger that operates in the south. And they have the very same concept of White Castle. Small square burgers. White Castle does not have stores in the south. In high school, we would often times go to a White Castle after a sporting event for sliders, fries and soda. Sometimes people were a little greased up on beverages not available at the slider joint and see how many they could eat. Not me. I would get 2 doubles, fries and a soft drink. Price wise, it was probably the same as I would have gotten at a McD, BK or Hardies for enough food to satisfy my hunger. After I moved west, I never thought about or missed White Castle. It is just a small burger cooked on a bed of onions, with a pickle and Ketchup/Mustard. At that time, they mixed the Ketchup/Mustard together and squirted it on your burger. This saved them a step in adding them separately. I was not the foodie I am now, so I do not know if they would honor a request to have Mustard or Ketchup only. Probably they did. However you make it, is how I will take it was my attitude. I moved back, but on the wrong side of town. I was over in Minneapolis. I went to the Central Ave store occasionally. I really liked their onion chips. But that was not enough for me to drive outside my neighborhood for the burgers and onion chips. Once I moved away from the Central Ave store, my visits to White Castle stopped. And stopped for many years. Ten years ago I was working a new job. It was time for lunch. A co-worker who has the«crave» wanted to go to White Castle. I am new. Ok, lets go. After 15 years of not having a slider, I found out I do not miss them. They are not bad. Just not good either. A few years ago, a lady friend told me about their breakfast sandwiches. Real eggs, cooked your way on toasted wheat or white bread, with optional cheese, bacon or sausage. Ok, I need to try them. Yep, they are great breakfast sandwiches. Eating in is the best way. To go, they put them in food bags and the steam makes for soggy sandwiches. Not good. About 1 year ago, I went inside and looked over the menu. I noticed they had platters. Decided to try the #1, wheat or white, 2 eggs, fried oh, om, oe or scrambled, bacon or sausage and hash rounds. I started getting the bacon. Switched to the sausage, scrambled, wheat. Nice breakfast for me at a very reasonable cost. I now get a breakfast at the Oak Park Heights store once or twice a week on my way to work. It is not fast, but quick enough for me if I leave 20 minutes for stopping in, eating and be on my way.

White Castle is what you would expect food wise but this one is actually pretty clean. The service is strictly OK.
