Just a great place to stay for friendly budget travelers. Pete is a very nice and welcoming host. The place is a little old but has a lot of charm and is comfortable for a few nights stay. Pete has a lot of knowledge about the area of course so he gives good advice on activities and places to go. Ople’s house is very close to the park entrance. For breakfast I recommend Slim’s Koffee Shak in Oakhurst.

We loved staying here. Pete is an awesome host and a very sweet man. He made us feel so comfortable like we were right at home. Every morning we would chat with him about the places to go and things to see. He knew all the best places we had to see as well as some places we could go that were a bit more private. It was nice to have him know where we were going and to tell him when we would return so if something happened or we got lost our minds were at ease knowing that Pete knew and could get us help(rather than staying at a hotel where no one would know til the day of check-out). On our last night we stayed up with Pete watching movies and my boyfriend and him were playing guitar and sharing music til the late hours of the night. He is such a wonderful man you could never get sick of him we just really enjoyed his company. on our last morning we took him to breakfast and followed that with another awesome movie he shared with us. Let’s just say it was a memorable experience we will never forget and we did not want to leave that beautiful town or Oples guest house. Pete made a lasting impression on us and we look forward to another visit with him soon. Thanks Pete!!!

This is what travel should be like– in a guest home, with a considerate host, and reasonable. He keeps the price low, knowing you are exploring California on a budget. And so knowledgable on the state and local area!
