Delish! Love this place! Been here several times, even new ownership still super yummy!

GOODKOREANBBQSPOT!!! The staff is friendly(at least the lady who served my family was to us). I like that they put the spoon in the package even though it doesn’t really make it any more sanitary/clean than it was before. Went here twice so far and both times had a decent meal. The sizzling plate was great because it actually sizzled. The pork was perfectly spicy, my one qualm is that they really only maybe put 4 tiny pieces of pork in the dish and an entire onion/pepper. My mom requested more vegetables than meat in her galbi jim and it appeared that they only put one more carrot and one other walnut type thing. What’s good with that? When you put out the plates of pre meal samples, us English speaking Americans would prefer if you could explain to us what is being put on the table so we know if we are eating pigs hoof or octopus brain or fish testicles. Please hire one person who speaks English for your customers who are not Korean!!! We like to explore new places to eat and it would be nice if we were treated with the same hospitality you treat your kin with. We may be American, but we are not dumb and would just like to know what we are eating when we go to an ethnic food establishment. One of my best friends is Korean and that is the only reason I know anything about Korean food and good thing he’s my friend or else I would probably be treated like garbage in a place like this! Where is common courtesy and cultural lines of respect? We respect your culture and establishment so should we not get the same level of respect? And we are paying customers so a little courtesy goes a long way. The two person minimum for BBQ is also ridiculous — what if I’m alone and want BBQ but don’t want to spend $ 100 on a meal? Please take these things into consideration or we will not be dining here again. Thank you!

I have not been here in a while but the place has changed. They remodeled it and it looks so much better. The food is still great.

In Flushing Korean BBQ can be redundant. However, the look and feel here is modern, crisp and fresh. The food is fantastic and in no way pretentious. However, what truly stands out for me is the staff. There is a frenetic energy which a very small minority might find distracting but I saw men and women hard at work. No less than 6 staff members assisted, addressed or made their presence known, the service was excellent! Thank you handsome Nick. Ample, well lit parking in the back. Attached next door is a Dunkin/Baskin Robbins. Take a group of friends and have a ball.

Best authentic charcoal Korean BBQ in NY. They always serve lots of ban-chan(side dishes).

There were six of us and it was our first Korean bbq ever. The bbq includes a fried whole fish, egg soufflé, seafood porridge, and a few other things I can’t remember. To get bbq you must order at least 2 bbq plates. We ordered the marinated pork shoulder, marinated shrimp, and marinated steak. First I must say I don’t think there is any kind of meat you could order that they wouldn’t grill to perfection! We had Kim as our server and she was amazing. It being our first time, she was so kind and patient. She explained what each item was and how to pair them to enjoy them. By the end of the meal all of our plates were empty but our bellies wet full to the max and without one grain of rice

I cannot believe this place is still open for business — they’re not even capable of making a decent bul-go-gi — yeah I know — misspelling of it is as bad as their making of it. I only needed one visit to learn my lesson and the cashier and staff are arrogant.

I use to come here often a year ago and had a great experience. But when I went back again last night the place has degraded termemdously! Our group had 6 ppl and their side dishes were for a party of 2, when we asked if we could have seconds they said you guys didn’t order enough(FYI our bill was $ 80). Also the food portions from their dinner menu(w. pics) were half of what they would serve in their regular menu. One more thing their seafood pancake had hardly ANY seafood in there. Will never go back again.

Their food is very good, and the customer service is pretty decent. They had originally misunderstood how much tip I was going to give, but when I called and asked for it back, they returned it without a fuss.

Not a fan of this place at all. Food lacked flavor. I ordered the Beef short-rib stew and all I tasted was bean sprout. The seafood pancake wasn’t great either. It was more like scallion pancake because it had absolutely no seafood on it. Try not to come here unless it’s within walking distance or you’re feeling super lazy or you want to dish out money for bad food.

Neighborhood Korean BBQ. My family and I go here when we don’t want to travel too far to eat Korean food(esp when none of us wants to cook). It is your typical Korean BBQ joint with the traditional Korean stews, meats, dishes, etc. Their nengmyun is decent(which I always get, regardless of the season. No judgment.) They serve your typical Korean meats along with alcohol & wine(fancy schmancy).

I remember having a wonderful experience at this place a year or two ago, and today was just outrageous. My family went for Thanksgiving dinner and surprisingly they were not packed at all. We ordered BBQ as usual and meat was alright but service was horrible. They seemed to be understaffed which is weird considering it’s a holiday and there were only 2 – 3 servers going crazy servicing the entire restaurant. Side dishes were nothing special and seemed even less in count– odd for dinner time/Thanksgiving day. Our server was too busy to properly place the side dish for us and literally had the plates slide/swift from distance because she had to run to other tables and service them. We got the charcoals in really late(after we were almost done with soup/side dish) and after meat was placed on the charcoal plate, nobody came to check up on it so we had to flip it ourselves to avoid it from burning. We had no tong or anything and had to use our chopsticks. When we called the server that meat is burning, she came to us with no apology whatsoever and started flipping the meat in high temperature abruptly. She didn’t even tell us if it’s ready to eat and just walked away. I have difficulty with chewing so we asked to have a scissor/cutter on our table so we can cut the meat ourselves. Our server refused to give one to us due to «shortage in scissors» which is nonsense because there were only 3 other tables filled besides us. Then she said she can give us one ONLY if we keep the scissor in front of the table«where she can see it and use it». Huh? For those who received mixed service due to language barrier, I am Korean and spoke to our server in Korean and this is the service we got.

Very good neighborhood spot for Korean food. My friend and I use this as our monthly dinner spot. The staff is always very nice, although sometimes it’s a little hard to get their attention. Plenty of yummy side dishes to fill the table. My usual order is the haemul(seafood) sunduboo. Been ordering it for years now from here and I’ve never had a complaint. Delicious. The dumplings, kimchi and regular seafood pancakes are equally delicious. I’ve had the BBQ here once before, and the meat is fantastic, but the prices are a little too high to make this the go-to spot for that all the time. Some of the items(like my sunduboo) are decently priced, others are a little up there. Still definitely recommend!

The food was four-star, but the service was two stars. I stopped in because I was in the neighborhood, and I didn’t feel particularly welcome. I had no idea what to order, and the staff was no help. I realize that I do need to learn more about their menu and their cuisine, but most places I’ve eaten are very eager to talk about their dishes. At Bi Won, dishes were placed in front of me in silence, and I had no idea what might go with what. I did enjoy experimenting a bit, but I was hoping for more of a tutorial than just stealing glances at the next table to see what they were doing. I will not be going back, although I would recommend their food to anyone who likes and knows Korean food.

If you live in Long Island, it’s in a convenient location. They give you a good amount of side dishes to eat while waiting for your main meal. Generally a good place to go to if you’re too lazy to go into flushing. I ordered don kasu and nengmyun. They were fine. They’re just not as good as restaurants in flushing… and the prices reflect the convenience.

My family and I swear by this place. We’ve been loyal customers for almost a decade! Sure, management and prices have changed, but the experience has always been the same for us. We always come here for the mung suk galbi(marinated rib) and bibim naengmyun(spicy noodles), and always leave with stuffed and satisfied bellies. I absolutely love eating the galbi with the sliced onions(saturated in some sweet sauce). I don’t even order rice because I want to consume as much meat as I can HAHA!!! There are many reviews about how expensive this place is, but I try to turn a blind eye because they give you quality meat and enough banchans(side dishes) to fill up the whole entire table, leaving almost no room for your elbows. They are very attentive about the space you have though, as they take away empty dishes to make room for you. The waitresses that we have always try to make conversation with us too. They’re very friendly and ask us if we need anything. That’s one of the small things that makes my family come back. BUTIF I LOVETHISPLACESOMUCHWHYDID I RATEIT4STARS? The dealbreaker for this place would be the price… As many Unilocalers have mentioned, this place costs an arm and leg. I guess the price would be justified if the banchans were better. Sure, there’s a large variety of food, but… it’s pretty basic. Nothing too memorable(except for their dwaenjang jigae which is always on point). There’s almost always no service there too. I’d have to step outside if I wanted to use my phone. Ultimately, if you’re a baller/feel like splurging on some good-ass meat, then Bi Won is the place for you.

LIFE. CHANGING. EXPERIENCE. It’s Monday night, and I hate Mondays, so what better thing to do than start this week off with some Korean Bbq. Anyways yadi yadi yadda, the biwon waitress jist informed they now have wagu beef, dry aged rib eye, and prime galbee. Sweet baby Jesus, it is melt in your mouth, amazing meat. Possibly the best steak/Korean bbq I have ever eaten. And I have tried many many steak houses, many Korean Bbq places from Cali to Vegas and Seoul. And this is some serious stuff people. Come and try it, with steak, I don’t play.

I suppose a four star rating is fitting. Biwon never got the respect it deserved from me because when it comes to Korean BBQ, I swear by a couple of places in Queens(Ooso Boso and Mapo). Though that might have something to do with knowing the owners of those restaurants. I’ve always been curious about Biwon, so I made my way over with a party of 6 adults and 2 munchkins. We called about half an hour ahead, and were told that if we could make it in 15 minutes, we’d be seated immediately. I drove recklessly. We were seated immediately. We sat in one of their side rooms as the tables in the main dining section were either taken or couldn’t accommodate such a number. We were rather hungry so we ended up having 7 orders of their Yangnyum Galbi, which translates into marinated galbi, and galbi is marinated beef. So… yeah. Their side dishes are plentiful. Stew, eggs, kimchi, several other veggies, fish cake, marinated raw blue crab(special), dried shrimp, mool kimchi, potato salad, pickled cucumbers etc. The kimchi was just poor. That mool kimchi though. Makes you feel as if you’re back on the homeland. The meat was incredible. Marinade on point, ideal thickness of the cut, and plentiful. Biwon might be #3 on my list now. Towards the end, we ordered some mool naengmyun(cold buckwheat noodles in a chilled broth) and some bibim naengmyun(same concept but no broth, and spicy.) Biwon is nifty here; they have a «half/half» choice, which means they bring you a partitioned aluminum dish with both types. Nifty nifty. Of course, the portions are halved as well, but this is a great choice for those who love both types of preparation(me.) The noodles weren’t the best, but definitely still pretty good. The missing star is thanks to the level of service throughout the night. Yes, they were busy, yes it was a Saturday night, but on one occasion, we actually had to walk to the kitchen area to get someone’s attention. Aside from that, Biwon is a great little place for Korean BBQ cravings if you’re in Bayside and don’t want to drive out to Flushing. I don’t remember the cost, but you can just scan my AmEx statement if it pleases you.

I’ve had this place bookmarked for a while and finally made my way over. Their side dishes are enough to get you full. Their service is wonderful and kalbi is delicious! We weren’t even all that hungry to start off with, but still managed to eat off 3 orders of kalbi amongst 3.5 of us. Must try if you’re looking for a new place for kalbi. Oh food coma…

I came here for an early Sunday dinner with ma dukes; it was her first time eating Korean food and she loved it! The service was fast and attentive while the food was tasty and plentiful. They give you A LOT of side dishes, way more than any other Korean BBQ restaurant i’ve ever been to(I’ve got 3 or 4 in my pocket to compare to). It’s great for a first time exposure to this type of cuisine because the sides consist of many foods with so many different flavors — you are sure to like something on the table. I always enjoy the spicy and garlic-y side dishes but the pumpkin soup caught me by surprise and may have been my favorite side of the night. It was sweet and rich, with a couple of beans to top it off. One of my other favorite sides was the sticky rice with vegetables. It was so hot and tasty i ate it up in less than 2 minutes. As an appetizer we had a seafood/scallion pancake(a must for me every time i dine Korean) which was delicious. Since such a large array of side dishes are provided, i would suggest ordering a small because its still a very good size. Onto the BBQ… We had marinated shrimp which was fresh and light. There were not many spices in the marinate so it was a simple, less than mild flavor which is great because we were able to just add on whatever was on the table. The only thing i did not like was the two person minimum requirement to order the shrimp. We wound up with 16 shrimps which was too much for the two of us, especially being that we had so many sides(oh yea and a pancake haha). And at $ 25.99 a person, you dont want to be left over with uneaten shrimp. After all this food, there was no room for after dinner sweets! All in all, great place will definitely come back.
