This is the spot for a good meal. Priced right and authentic Mexican food. One of my favorite spots. Come dressed however you want. Even pijamas, no one will care lol

I’m going to regret writing this review… because this place is so good that I hate to see it get so popular that I won’t be able to find a seat once all the Oakland newbie residents find it. For the old school East Oaklanders this is a fave spot. Authentic Mexican food with top service. You can pop in and eat at the counter. If you love soccer there is always a game on the wide screen TV. The wet burrito is the bomb — if you manage to finish it you better have a friend with you to roll you home — it is definitely two meals… the sauce the flavor the build is awesome. I am a big enchilada fan and these folks make them beautifully. Sopes and the carnitas are also the bomb. If you are on a low carb diet no worries cause they will happy switch rice and beans for salad. Rice and beans are the bomb — made to perfection… of course they are authentic refried beans. Pretty much whatever you want they will accommodate you. The crowd is mostly hispanics with local artist types. Lots of families go and eat here so they do get busy — you can do the to-go things as well. I don’t recommend it for groups large than 6 because the dining area is small and it would just be rude to all the customers who wouldn’t be able to get a seat if you come in and occupy the entire dining area. I am hoping that this place stays humble –it is an out of the way spot although it is on San Leandro street it is easy to drive right by without noticing it. Viva Mexican Food in East Oakland!

4 caminos is one of those little hole in the wall joints with great food. They have been around forever… they have the best wet burritos in town… matter fact they have the best wet burritos ever!!! Also they have the best salsa ever… they have good customer service and their restaurant is clean. I like how the kitchen is exposed to the public so you can see what’s going on back there and makes you feel comfortable about how your meal is being prepared, it also gives it a very homei vibe. The only down fall is that the restaurant is a bit small. So all in all 4 caminos is a great spot to get some authentic Mexican food. Not a fancy place but great food. P. S. their micheladas are pretty good too

One of my friends recommended this place in a conversation about Mexican food and have to say my only regret is that I did not come here sooner. I had the shrimp enchiladas with the green sauce and my wife had the fish soup. The enchiladas were superb and my wife was smiling with every spoonful of her fish soup. I’m looking forward to coming back tomorrow morning to try their breakfast and see if it’s as delicious as the dinner we had tonight.

I hate this place!!! Their food is so good that I have to keep coming back… their salsa is so good you can drink it alone. I’ve went to so many Mexican restaurants, but this one, this one I have no complaints about. Try their burritos! Did I mention their staff are all friendly?

This is one of the Best Mexican Food Spots in the Bay Area. Truly a hidden gem! Not a lot of fan fair inside your typical Oakland Taco place except the Food is Dam good! The owner and staff are friendly and treat you like family every time. Before the A’s or Raiders games I always stop by here to either get my grub on or get catering platters to go! Everything is great but the Steak platters, chile Colorado, Tortas, and Buritos are my usual. The Fish is good by I will only order it on recommendation. Give this place a try! Portions are Big food is fresh and the Service is Great! Love this place!!!

You’ve seen this place many of times. Just as I have while rolling down San Leandro Blvd. Unbeknownst to us there were people inside! Was seated right away, handed menus, chips and salsa(which were good by the way) and became indecisive as to what i wanted. I settled on carne asada enchilada and a chicken flauta. Everything was good. I couldnt help but notice others aroind us had ordered shrimp cocktails and micheledas. Im getting that next time! Check it out!

Wet burrito from here is I usually get steak and shrimp. The lady there was kind enough to tip me off and tell me to order a steak burrito and add shrimp rather getting a shrimp burrito and adding steak so it will save money

Lol read some the poor reviews on here… if you want to trust good Mexican food, look whose reviewing and whose in the restaurant when you eat at a spot. I don’t trust hipster reviews, the hell they know about Mexican food?. Every time I eat here its some real deal Latino aunties, grandmas and families who probably can throw down in the kitchen too on some Mexican food so if they’re eating out at this spot than you know its hella good. Staff is hella friendly, cooks are mad nice and are hella consistent. And someone was clowning on the beans on one of the reviews… I don’t even like to eat beans but these are the best mf’n beans ever!

Never a disappointment coming here. Randomly came in today for lunch it’s a small restaurant, very authentic Mexican food. I got a Michelada and Shrip cocktail. The Michelada was enormous, too much for me to finish. The taste was ok. As soon as the cocktail came out I nearly died! It was huge! Make sure you mix up your cocktail, if you like spice add hot sauce. They gave me enough crackers and once I dipped in the the cocktail, my whole mouth was in heaven!!! Just what I wanted! My friends orders the Sopes and carnita tacos. They were also very happy with what they ordered. The service was wonderful. Our server was very nice and attentive.

While no restaurant can be all things to all people, 4 Caminos hits all the right marks when it comes to classic Mexican American cuisine. With it’s roadside truck stop charm, 4 Caminos excels with their platos de pollo en mole, chile verde, milanesa and chile colorado. My favorite is the burrito famoso. A large, no frills burrito bathing in delicious enchilada sauce which will transport you to a bygone era the moment you smell it. The only downside is that once you start eating it it is difficult to stop and you will definitely be in a coma if you eat the whole thing in one sitting.

My co-worker suggested that I give this local Mexican restaurant, which was near the Fruitvale BART station a try. Located about three blocks away on San Leandro St, this non-discreet place has a parking lot for about a dozen or so cars. We were greeted upon entrance and said we could sit at any available table. The small restaurant has about a dozen tables and it was definitely a local place. A family of six was at one table and the rest of the patrons were locals. A true local Mexican restaurant. After getting our drinks and the chips and salsa, I ordered a shrimp burrito. It was a large size burrito and can’t imagine the size of the super burrito. Good amount of tasty shrimp with cilantro and the rice was soft and buttery tasting.( ) I’ll be back to try their other offerings from their extensive menu.

4 Caminos is located on San Leandro b/t 38th and 39th in Oaktown, around the corner from the Fruitvale Bart Station. I came here with a friend after a Raider game, and before heading to Oakland Airport. I saw the siete mares on the menu, and despite the price($ 4 more compared to So CA), I decided to go for it($ 18.95). My friend ordered the chicken mole w/rice & beans($ 12.95 — not pictured). Both dishes come w/homemade flour or corn tortillas. 4 Caminos also offers a variety of authentic plates w/or w/o seafood. The broth of the siete mares was very good. You could taste the fresh vegetables and epazote that infused the broth. However, the fish was not completely de-boned, and there was not that much seafood in relation to the price: 3.5 Stars. My friend really liked his chicken mole. He thought the taste was much better compared to Juanitas in Alameda(late night place we frequent): 4 Stars. Lastly, the chips and salsa were also better quality compared to Juanitas. The ambiance is very quaint, but nothing to speak of. There are 10 tables, 3 booths, and some seats at the counter. You can see plates stacked up high on the counter in front of the kitchen: 3 Stars. The service was not that good. My dish came out way after my friend’s, and another couple seated next to us. In fact, the couple seated next to us received 4 complete dishes well before I received my soup. In addition, the waitress didn’t check on us and we had to ask for a water refill: 2 Stars. I would come back and try some other plates, but I won’t order the siete mares again. The dish took too long, and the cost was too high for the amount of seafood. I can handle the inattentive service. Maybe I’ll drink some cervezas next time! LOL!!!

When I come to Oakland, I’m schooled but not in a bad way. I learned something very interesting from a very special Chica in my life. I learned that St. Patrick’s Day is best spent in a Mexican Restaurant when you want to avoid the crowds. We weren’t in the mood for a full-on meal but definitely a snack was in order. So to satiate our urge, we went for flautas(can’t remember what meat we decided on) with rice & beans along with shrimp tacos. All of the favors were outta this world and about as authentic as you can get. Sure the neighborhood isn’t the best but I was able to look past it, so can you if you’re really wanting the good stuff. Now I’m curious about those super burritos, hmmmm…
