I usually get my awesome haircut for $ 6 – 8 in San Jose until I recently moved back to Oakland with my family. I am still searching for a decent hair salon. I came here for a fade, 0 bottom, 6 on top and a medium fade. Result = not good at all. First off, I dont think she knows how to do a fade whatsoever. My hair litterally came out«zero» at the bottom and a «6» on top with no noticeable transition; almost like a mushroom. I had to go home and use my own razor to fix it. I couldn’t help to watch her technique of using a «0» razor to carve out a fade style looking effect. While sitting in the chair frighten, that’s when I knew it was going to be a horrible day. It’s Halloween, and wanted a decent haircut to go out later tonight. Now, I will be less confident drinking my Sam Adams on tap while looking at the pretty brunette across the room. God, I love Sam Adams and fish tacos. Tacos rules. I was charged $ 13 plus I left tip. $ 15 total and leaving the place extremely disappointed. I will never return.

I’ve been coming here for over 20 years. She’s like your own neighborhood barber.(But a lady) I walk in and don’t even need to tell her what I want done. She just goes to work. Sometimes it gets busy as she works alone and if there’s a bunch of ladies getting perms ahead of you, it’s going to be a long wait. It’s about $ 12 right now for a general haircut. $ 5 extra to have her wash/shampoo after. Careful when parking outside as there is street sweeping. PS. Her door is always locked(to keep panhandlers away) So just walk up an knock and she or someone will let you in.

I must say, I myself along with my two son’s first came across Annie back in the the early 90’s. My son’s wouldn’t let anyone else cut their hair only Annie had the right… Now that they are grown up, they moved on… But here I am after all these years i am a faithful client even though I branched off sometimes I always went back to Annie, She would always know when someone else cut my hair, she would fuss at me gently then after we would laugh… Annie has very reasonable prices and a nice person to know. I am so very happy to have Annie in my HAIR!

I’ve been going to Annie’s for haircuts since high school. I’ve spent countless hours sitting in her modest shop with the ever present granny under the hairdryer, getting ready for proms, first dates, job interviews, and even my wedding! Its funny to think about how our conversations have changed. From girl problems and pimples to raising kids. Annie is pretty much family. My two daughters get their haircuts from Annie now, which is a trip. We wave to her every time we pass her shop on 35th Ave. My 20 year high school reunion is coming up and I keep hearing how I look exactly the same as I did in high school. I think that’s partly because I’ve been going to Annie the whole time. I’m not a good lookin guy but my hair always looks good(except for that stretch when I lived in LA) thanks to Annie. I don’t think her prices have changed in all that time either.

So let me be the first to say that I’ve been going to Annie’s for almost 20 years now and wouldn’t want anyone else to cut my hair! She’s super friendly and does a great job no matter what I want to have done. I mean it’s gotten to the point where I don’t even say anything about how I would like my haircut anymore. I just get in the chair and let her do her thing and we just conversate about anything and everything. Mostly family and life, but that’s what makes going to her so cool! Her shop is definitely easy to find and conveniently located in the Laurel District which seems to be thriving as of late. Besides all that… how can you complain about a haircut for only $ 12 that always comes out just the way you want!!!

Annie is awesome! For years I went to a barber who was unreliable on work hours and never seemed to put in a true effort in cutting my hair. A neighbor recommended Annie’s to my mom and she started taking my brother. I decided to check things out and I have been going back ever since. Annie is there 6 days a week(Tues-Sun) and works 10 hours days. She is very friendly and puts 100% into doing a great job. She can cut it all. Basic men’s cut is $ 11 which is a deal! Even with tip I pay $ 5 less than my last barber. If you are looking for a great haircut… this is the place!!!

I’ve been going to Annie for haircuts for several years now. There’s a lot to like about her and her business: she’s conveniently located close to my home and gives a good haircut, all for a very modest $ 12. Annie is also unfailingly friendly – a pleasure to chat with while you receive a clipping. Helluva nice lady, Annie is. The physical space is nothing fancy, but that’s not important to me. A good haircut at a good price is, and that’s what I always get. Viva Annie!

I used to drive by this place all the time until one day I decided to just go for it and get my hair cut here. I was in desperate need of a trim, but I’m just not comfortable in a chain hair-cutting place. Apparently, this became a theraputic experience for me. Annie is quick and does a better job than I do with my own hair– but more than the cut, I loved being part of the little community that she creates in the space — I’ve never felt left out even if the language was different because the usual topics of men and relationships are usually pretty universal :) The people that come in are all pretty cool and range in age and gender.
