I came here on a Saturday night with a friend. A pair of people we knew came in after we made our drink order and joined us, they were allowing people to seat themselves which is pretty cool. The salsa that came with the chips was a bit runny to my liking but it was free so I can’t complain. I went the safer route and got a super famoso burritto, which i learned was a wet burrito. Menu descriptions are pretty vague, so brush up on your spanish, or Google it as you read. At 12 bucks I thought it was kind of expensive until it arrived. It was the length of my entire forearm! That thing lasted me 4 meals and was delicious. My companions also had at least a couple meals’ worth of leftovers. I also had a Mexican hot chocolate. I wished it was a little spicier, but the texture was spot-on; smooth, well incorporated, and not chalky at all. Overall, I had a good experience. The food was great and the portions you get are huge. My only gripe is that our server forgot our hot chocolates and we had to remind him, maybe he got confused because our two friends joined us. Will definitely come back to try the other dishes!

Went and had a late lunch there with a few buddies. The food there has a very close taste to my mother’s cooking. Will likely go back again and try other plates. I ordered the nachos and a popusa mixta both were awesome

My fam took me to El Taco for my birthday. They know I like Mexican food and I love to eat at gems in the hood. So what if a random person strolls through the restaurant and looks at your burrito, just let em! You know why? This place makes an hella huge and amazing burrito! Really, I’ve never had a burrito the size of my forearm ever before. I’m saying. Go back and read that again… a burrito the size of a person’s forearm. Did I finish it all in one sitting? Nope! Not even close. But, I can tell you that they did not scrimp on any of the ingredients. It was truly a work of art. The place is a bit small, so it took a minute for our party of 8 to be seated. It took a long time for the food to be served, but I now understand why. The burrito is GORDO! Ya dig? So, if El Taco is all that and a bag of tortilla chips, then why didn’t I give El Taco 5 stars? They didn’t serve sangria or margaritas. Cry for me Don Quixote, just cry a river! Oh what a wonderful day in the neighborhood it would have been if I could have had a glass of sangria or margarita! But, I’m not mad. The burrito was great!

This has always been a favorite of ours since we only live 5 minutes away. The service is great with big portions of food. However, they have recently raised their prices and only take cash or debit.

This restaurant is just the greatest! Great food, enormous portions and a terrific price. Our go to comfort food spot. I really enjoy the tamal y chile relleno special dinner plate but you really can’t go wrong with a super burrito. Or anything else for that matter. If you are unfortunate enough to be the parent of a kid with a picky appetite, there is a kids menu with food appropriate for a kid’s taste buds. But for the awesome child who can and will eat from the bounty of food here, you can get ‘em anything. Pork, chicken, seafood, vegetarian – just get yourself in here.

This is one of those Mexican joints where the whole family is working together to make things happen. The portions are massive and the white wine margaritas weren’t half bad. That said, the food we had was just OK. Would I recommend this spot to a friend? Only if they were in the area.

Like a crazy pregnant women I’ve been craving for ceviche. I Unilocal until my stomach finds its purpose in life. And another love to add to my list. My order was two shrimp ceviche, my dates, two shrimp tacos with a side of rice. Made fresh to order our meal arrived in about fifteen minutes. Showcase picture perfect. Flavor, authentically special but spicy you’ll need water to hose it down. Their recipe involves red spicy sauce, fresh avocado slices, onions, and large shrimp. A different version of ceviche that I like very much. Pricier to match the quality. Well worth the trip.

PROS: — Pretty flavorful food! Even the basic beans and rice packs a well-seasoned and perfectly-spiced punch so be prepared for the goodness.(Mostly. See below. And also I haven’t had the whole menu.) — Good customer service from anyone I’ve come across — Hassle free parking on Rosedale CONS: — Pretty steep prices there brotha! — Steer clear of anything that comes in contact with the roja enchilada sauce, including the wet burrito. Sadly it just isn’t good. Tried to give it a few chances but it just didn’t work out between us

Wow. Amazing authentic Mexican food! I found this place on Unilocal and was drawn in by the pictures of the huge burritos. they didn’t disappoint! This place does Mexican right. Simple and plain. no frills. Burritos are done the way they’re supposed to be, rice REFRIED beans, cheese and meat only. No salads and whole beans in there, nothing fancy. Just authentic, delicious, simple flavors. I had the shredded chicken burrito and just as other reviews said: the meat was great. Juicy all white meat. No grizzle, not dry, seasoned perfectly. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. They had a full house and only one guy running around but he kept the drinks filled and got the food out fast. The crowd was diverse too. People from all walks and cultures. Makes people watching fun. I think this just became my favorite east bay taqueria!

Back in the day when I was young I’m not a kid anymore! Meaning: My old stomping grounds! The dad and I went for a quick lunch before picking the daughter up from school. Good move on the dads part. The chips were fresh and crunchy and the salsa was spicy. I ordered the chicken flautas along with a frijoles y queso pupusa. What can I say, but fresh, fresh, fresh. Well worth the small wait and truth be told, I cleaned my plate. He opted for the steak enchiladas and seemed to be pleased as well. I guess it is ok to say I will go back if in the area, I mean to do want to try out the breakfast so it is a go! I give it two crumbs up!

One of the best Latin restaurants in all of Oakland. Everything from its prices to its location to its décor is excellent in quality. This place is conveniently located within walking distance of my house, but even if I need to drive here its fine because they have plenty of close parking on site. This establishment sits right on a corner and is immediately eye catching with its hand written brightly colored specials and window art. Once you enter through the doors you feel right at home, the staff is welcoming, the atmosphere is warm(Music on the jukebox is a regular thing), and the smell of authentic latin food drifts through the air. The menu here is excellent, they offer everything from tacos and pupusas to 7 seas soup. I’ve tried tons of things here, but my favorite is always the Super burrito, it’s large and filling(Feeds me and my two youngest boys easily) and cheap in price(Appx. $ 10). Also, they offer a good variety of drinks, both soft(American and Latin sodas) and alcoholic(beers and cocktails). Come here anytime and you will be hooked, it’s that good.

Best shrimp fajita and hand made corn tortillas! Since I can only eat half the fajita but can’t stop myself from consuming all 3 tortillas while at the restaurant, ask for 3 more tortilla to take home with the leftovers! The picture looks like a magazine photo shoot, that I posted. I don’t eat meat but my husband orders a tamale enchilada combo and gives it a 5 star. We’ve eaten at lots of Oakland and Alameda Mexican restaurants and this is consistently very good. It’s a bit casual, but this is what I picked for my birthday, even though I had lots of options

I havent tried alot of mexican restaurants since I moving down here to the east bay but this place is good. I’ve been back here numerous times and the chicken soft tacos are the best. Homemade tortillas and the salsa is so spicy and good. Super burritos are a foot long maybe longer lol Im not a big fan of mexican rice and beans but this place has the best. i could eat it everyday no joke :)

This place is pretty deep in the heart of fruitvale, so it’s a bit of a longer trek for me. But… I still love it. It’s a pretty large spot on the corner and our church always caters from them, despite the long trek and our cars inevitably smelling like Mexican food for the next year. Their chile verde is my favorite, don’t know what they put in there, but it’s addicting. Their salsa is a little to spicy to my taste too. But, the rice and beans… that is where it is AT. I just keep eating and eating and my stomach doesn’t even bother signaling to me it’s full because it’s signaling: KEEPITCOMING.

I used to hear stories from my parents of the days when a snickers candy bar was a nickel, or when a ticket to see a movie on the big screen was a dime. Well that ain’t the case now, in fact the other day I bought two tickets on fandango for $ 38, a regular snickers bar is $ 1.19, and a the average price for a super burrito in Oakland now is $ 10! That’s right, I got a story to tell now too. I used to get a super burrito for $ 3.75. Well that ain’t the case anymore. It’s no different at El Taco Zamorano Restaurant. What should you expect in a burrito? Super burrito: the burritos are huge, probably about 15 inches long, some days it’s bigger depending on who makes it. The ingredients they use are solid. Most taquerias in Oakland automatically use whole beans but not the case at Zamoranos, they use refried beans which I like. Graded on a curve because Mexican food in the Eastbay doesn’t match up with the great Mexican food in the city. Zamorano is one of the better burrito spots in Oakland. Service is adequate. Limited amounts of English is spoken. They provide salsa verde and also red salsa but are pretty stingy with it. In back of my mind I feel that if I’m paying $ 10 for a burrito, it’d be nice if they would just be generous with the salsa and napkins for that matter. Still a decent burrito and hopefully in my lifetime I will never have to tell a story on when burritos were $ 10 instead of $ 20!
