Finding a music teacher that suits you is a personal, subjective, individualized decision. Every student has a unique combination of interests, goals, motivations, strengths, areas that need work, etc. You should really find one that you click with. As a student of Ian’s, I can say without any reservations that personally, I’m getting a lot out of working with him, and enjoying the process. I’m a student with some musical background, learning guitar as an adult. My experience with Ian is that he is great for my situation. I think he’d be great for anybody. So I’d definitely recommend trying lessons with him for a student of any age and level, based on my experience of him as a teacher.
