Pink Liu has been cutting my hair for over fifteen years. I have never ever been less than delighted with the results. She is an outstanding stylist and remarkably reasonable, considering her great talents.

Pink works magic with her scissors to make my hair look flawless! She’s a fun, energetic lady to talk to and you usually have to book her a couple weeks in advance because her schedule fills up quick! For someone like me who gets 2 – 3 inches trimmed every 6 months or so, she does a fantastic job listening to my hair concerns and giving me a great look!

I have been having my hair cut exclusively with Pink for over 15 years. She’s awesome! She always keeps her appointment on schedule so I rarely have to wait. Very friendly and accommodating and I am always happy with the cut. I highly recommend this place!

I’ve been coming to her since I was 14 years old and now 20 years later, still going to her and I take my sons and daughter there too. She’s always friendly and will squeeze you in when she can. Gotta love her!

There are two hairdressers working at Hairliners, and this review is for Pink. A few years ago, I had moved back to the area and was looking for a reliable place for a haircut. I got some recommendations from friends for various salons in Berkeley/Oakland but I thought they were overpriced and wasn’t happy with the results. So then I started looking in Chinatown because I figured, if I was going to get a subpar haircut, why pay a lot for it? Went to one place that was really pretty awful. Then tried popping into Hairliners one day after dim sum. Pink had some time and started cutting away. I had given her some vague instructions like, «Maybe a couple inches shorter, or not, or I’m not sure, and maybe some layers, but not a whole lot.» And she worked magic. Seriously, since I started going to her, I get compliments from strangers on my hair on a fairly regular basis. She has a really good eye, and she takes her time and has obvious pride in her work. My regular package is a shampoo and cut, which runs me $ 25 + tip(since I’d always give her $ 30, she just started giving me change for that, but I think $ 25 is the base rate). Also, I’m not a big fan of talking all throughout a haircut, but she makes me feel comfortable either chatting with her, or just burying my nose in my Us Weekly(full assortment of trashy magazines provided). Pink is very friendly but also low key and she doesn’t pressure you into additional services, and if anything advised me against dying my hair because it’s better for it not to. If you are lazy and cheap but don’t like to look like crap, Hairliners is the place to be. Just ask for Pink! PS: Don’t be scared by the super layered azn cuts that sometimes come out of the storefront — after all, customer is always right. Just give some idea of what you want and you’ll be fine. Also Pink is fluent in English, Cantonese and I’ve definitely heard her speak some Mandarin.
