I’ve been buying fruit at Safeway to save money since Farmer Joe’s is so incredibly expensive(not always though), At Safeway in the Dimond district, grapes cost me nearly $ 5.00/lb!!! We’re broke at the moment, so going without decent fresh fruit is a real deprivation. Imagine my surprise when Mi Ranchito sold me nearly the exact grapes for .50 cents a lb. Yes, I now get to eat good fruit for a more than reasonable price. The meat counter is pretty good, especially if you familiarize yourself Hispanic cuts of meat. I heartily recommend the dry cured chorizo the hangs on the back wall; soak them briefly to remove the casing, chop to a crumble while browning, add diced potatoes and onions etc., get it nice and crispy, serve with fresh warm, mini tortillas. Oh my! The reason customer service seems poor is that the employees speak little English, and it’s a little embarrassing for them to try speaking with you. Try, try, try!

New to the neighborhood, I’ve tried these people a few times. Their produce is good and their groceries just adequate. But their service is why I give only two stars. The staff are not willing to step up to «barely adequate» level, being more focused on things like, private conversations; TV shows; even eating at the front counter. Get more professional, and I’ll try ‘em again.

Mi Ranchito has lots of canned groceries, some produce, and a large meat section in the rear. the snack aisle drew my attention, eats: marinela«Submarino»(2/1.35) –looked like twinkies: «strawberry filled» –more dry than twinkles version, not moist at all. –strawberry filling jam like. no crème at all. crumbs: –definitley not a twinkie clone wouldn’t retry. other varieties look interesting.

I adore this market both for its awesome produce but also their service. As a neighborhood grocer they provide personal service that I rarely see these days. We’ve lived in the neighborhood for over ten years and most of the staff have been there as long. They employ neighborhood kids to help out, they know us all by name, speak English, Spanish and Arabic fluently and never a cross word to say. Recently had to go help family out of state and I was able to phone a grocery order in for my local family. They recognized my voice, happily took my order and it was received without a hitch. Can’t say enough good things about this sweet, neighborhood market.

they offer a variety of produce here for cheap. i have to agree with the other reviews that its best to shop for produce here if youre planning on eating them within 2 days.

I go through a ton of produce, so I am very stoked to have discovered this little market. I stopped in just yesterday and got the following for about six bucks: * Two honeydew melons(.50 each) * Six big, perfect kiwi fruits($ 1.00) * Package of garbanzo beans($ 1.59) * Bunch of cilantro(.35) * Four yellow onions(.33 per pound) * Three limes(.18) * Twelve roma tomatoes(.33 per pound) * Two red jalapenos(can’t recall, but not more than a few cents) Other recent purchases? Two giant mangoes the size of my head for $ 1.25 each, and organic yellow peaches for a paltry fifty cents a pound, which compares VERY favorably to the $ 2.69 you’d pay elsewhere.(Just make sure the number on the label starts with 9, because they sometimes mix the organics in with the conventional items). If you’re interested in saving money on groceries, this place is well worth placing on your shopping rotation. It ain’t fancy, but you’ll pay a fraction what you would at a conventional grocery store. The quality ranges from fine to great, and it is unbelievably cheap.

Dirt cheap but you only got 2 day max on vegi n fruit life. This market is sooo packed and cramped with groceries and people that if your closter phobic then stay away. The meat area in the back is just vile. If your a senior citizen, been coming here for years, or need something asap and your in the area then I understand shopping here. Best part about this place is Lupitas in the parking lot and the panaderia La Pena across the street.
