Friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere, very good food. Had a pulled pork sandwich on Memorial Day and I really liked that it was topped with fresh, crispy cabbage and onions sliced thin, rather than overdressed slaw as is so common.

I feel bad giving a mediocre rating because the service was really great. Unfortunately, the food was meh. I stopped by for a late breakfast and ordered the housemade corned beef hash dish, which came with two eggs. First thing I noticed was that the eggs were over easy, even though the menu said they’d be poached. Didn’t matter to me, since I was starving. What did matter to me was that the portion size of the corned beef hash was pretty small. The dish tasted okay, but two eggs and some corned beef hash later, I was still hungry. I usually don’t finish the toast that comes as a side at many similar diner-type restaurants, but I had to this time because there wasn’t enough food otherwise. And I had to slather it with butter and jam because the wheat toast tasted like cardboard. Though the food was probably 2 stars, the waitress was really friendly and made sure to check up on me several times during my short meal. So I’ll up my rating to 3 stars.

Let me start by saying that our waitress seemed a bit overwhelmed, forget a few things a few times but in the end she was very accommodating… hence, the 5 stars. My first time here and everything on the menu looked really good. I opted for a side of corned beef hash with 1 poached egg and a single ricotta pancake. Oh and s side of hollandaise! Hash was good but a little too spicy for me, hollandaise was perfect. We were seated immediately and in a corner by the window… Also perfect. Definitely hope to get back here. And you should, too!

My absolute favorite thing about this place… the RICOTTA pancakes. If you can only get one thing from this place(b/c it is a bit pricier than your normal diner), then I would highly recommend those damn pancakes. They are so soft, fluffy, and will dissolve in your mouth, especially if you add butter and syrup. YESSS. GO, get them, NOW! (23÷100)

Simply the best breakfast in the East Bay. Great service, delicious food and nice atmosphere. We try and get there every time our daughter is home from college – always her first choice.

We decided to branch out from our usual brunch spot and try someplace new. 8:30 on a Saturday morning proved easy to get a seat. We ate the ricotta pancakes and the corned beef hash and both were great! The bacon was fantastic. More, please! Bottomless coffee, sign me up. It was busy, but not overly so. It was also easy to get our bill, pay, and head on out. Definitely coming back! The good: tasty, tasty food! The bad: not bad, but there’s a lot on the menu, so take your time to figure out what you’re looking for!

I like this café for what seems like it’s main purpose — a cost effective, relatively quiet spot to catch up with a friend or colleage and just talk over basic food. There is nothing special about the food served, traditional diner staples with a few healthier options. The folks here are incredibly professional and kind. I’d come back if I were in the area for similar purposes.

I am forever catching up with my bookmarks… But this is just a diner, noting wrong with that but it was bland. The staff were great. But it’s like grading on a curve when you compare it to places nearby. So for that reason it’s a 3⁄5. I got the western omelette and was so disappointed, were the eggs seasoned? It looked anemic, white almost instead of yellow. And the Java is brewed… I need espresso style. I know that it has its place but it’s not for me.

Ordered the tofu scramble because I’m a vegan. It SUCKEDBIGTIME! Just because someone is vegan doesn’t mean food should be bland and tasteless. Subbed potatoes for the bread and potatoes were cold and hard. Big fail Rockridge Café especially in light of the fact that so many folks are going vegan! Service was great! My waiter was very accommodating in getting me spices, soy sauce and ginger to make the breakfast palatable(server gets 5 stars!) They have wifi(also 5 stars)

First time here. Simple menu with all the typical menu selections you would find at a breakfast café. I ordered the corned beef hash with over easy eggs. The eggs were perfect. Michelin star worthy over easy eggs and that sounds crazy and maybe a fluke but I witnessed it first hand. The corned beef was house made with a little spice and that was nice but the eggs were over the top.

We were a party of 7 and they quickly made room on a busy Saturday morning for brunch. The food was amazing and the quality was far above your typical«café». We ordered: 1. the ricotta pancakes with warm citrus sauce. The bacon was PERFECTLYCOOKED crispy and my egg was perfectly poached. Is it just me or does that never happen? 2.Brussel sprout and bacon hash. PHENOM and it came with a hefty amount of perfectly ripe avocado 3. Carnitas tacos. They were authentic and came with a spicy red salsa on the side that I wish I took home. The flavor of the tacos was awesome. The coffee was also good and strong! We will be coming back!

I have been going here since I was a child. It is a great, kind friendly place with local art that is different every time I come in here. I this place is best for breakfast and brunch. Because it is quite popular, it can get a bit crowded here and it might take a while before you are seated.

This place is quaint with a classic, old café/diner feel, which is great, truly. The food is legit but not too legit to quit, especially at these prices! I’ll attach a photo of their brunch special. It tasted fine, but the presentation was lacking – it was the entrée plopped in the middle of a huge plate without much effort in the way of garnishment or variety in color. I’m from out of town and thus unlikely to return. If I lived here, however, I would definitely give it another shot or two, as I like the ambiance and wanted desperately to be impressed with the food. The coffee was good; the water, on the other hand, was not good. That, though, may be a citywide issue for all I know.

Great breakfast spot in downtown Rockridge. My family and I met up with some local friends for breakfast this weekend. Rockridge is a family friendly restaurant with great waitstaff. The food and the serve was top notch. Our favorite dishes were the buttermilk pancakes and waffle(simple but delicious) and the avocado/egg tacos. We also had the ricotta pancakes. They were okay but we found the buttermilk pancakes more satisfying. I would highly recommend this place, especially to family. I cannot say enough about how great the staff is.

One one thing to look out here for is the price and the portion sizes of your meals. The pictures other people post of their meals are pretty deceiving and I came here really anticipating more but ended up leaving disappointed. Omelettes only come with toast, no hash browns or home fries. For a bacon, avocado, cheese omelette with toast ended up costing $ 13.80. Waffles come only by themselves and are super thin and cost $ 8.50. My poor hubby left still feeling hungry, as well as me. The entire total for two people + coffee = $ 35.86. With 15% tax that’s a whopping $ 42.00. I’m sorry but this is waaaaaaay to expensive for a two person breakfast for medium quality food. Again, as I always say, Homemade Café will forever be my breakfast joint. They do it right in every way.

I liked this place a lot. Good solid breakfast place. I don’t remember exactly what time my friend and I arrived, but it was a time that should’ve been super busy — like 10 am on a Sunday or something, and we got in pretty quickly. There were a couple people waiting ahead of us. And the food was really good! I’d like to go back soon. It wasn’t expensive either.

I love this place. I came here with my dad one morning and sat at the counter. I ordered the ricotta pancakes(really good but not quite as fluffy as I’d imagine them to be…) and it was great. Hit the spot.

A casual brunch spot in Oakland that could get crowded in the morning, but the wait is never too long. Got some simple poached eggs with pancakes while my partner got corned beef hash. Everything tasted decent and good. As for service, the staff was friendly and accommodating. If you are ever in this area, do give this place a try. Simple casual American breakfast food.

A cute little café right on College Ave. This is perfect for an early morning breakfast. It is casual, quaint and charming. — Plenty of parking nearby — Great prices — Delicious food(we had scrambled eggs and a breakfast sandwich) — Cheap coffee — Really friendly service — Debit/Credit cards accepted — Large portions — Brunch options available(hard to find in the area)
