This place is great. It is one of my favorite places for a quick, good lunch. The service is fast and polite. The toppings are fresh. The mushroom and garlic is just perfect. The homemade sausage is yummy. My absolute fave was a fresh tomato, ricotta and spicy peppers pizza they had last summer. I have been to distracted by the ricotta, olive and Italian broccoli(who would’ve thought broccoli would be so tasty on pizza) pie to try the latest seasonal offering. Parking can be hard, but that is the way of Piedmont ave.

This place has some great pizza! I was in from New York visiting my sister and said I had wanted to try a pizza place in the Bay Area so she and her boyfriend brought me here. I liked that they had a good variety of pizza available by slice. I purchased the mushroom and garlic while I was there and the cheese and sausage to heat up later for dinner. Both were excellent! The crust was so good and the slices were very flavorful. My sister got a slice of the cauliflower and spinach which she really liked. I thought it was cool that the sausage was made in house. The vibe in there was cool, laid back with Beastie Boys(one of my favorites) playing in the speakers. The guy working the front was very friendly and offered great customer service!

Went here for lunch because it’s just up the street from my house. The pizza was pretty mediocre — and a little expensive given what it was. Ditto for the salad. Really annoyed at the amount of waste this place generates. We ate at the restaurant and EVERYTHING was disposable — water cups, plates, cutlery, etc.

Never noticed it before. Left brocollini, olive and ricotta. Right: roasted cauliflower, Red onion and Calabrian chiles. Lots of olive oil flavor and a crunchy-chewy, corn mealy crust. I’ll go again. Pretty yummy. Good pomegranate drink too.

I posted a desperate plea on Facebook recently asking for suggestions on a go-to pizza place that I haven’t thought of yet. What I wanted? –A good basic cheese pie where the sauce flavor was on point, the cheese was the right amount and texture, and the thin crust had both a chew to the dough and a little crispy tooth to the surface… without being wet and soggy. Just solid pizza night pizza. –Where it doesn’t cost 60 $ for two plain pies. –Where it is still edible when I get it home. –Where parking is remotely possible with a kid for a quick pick up. I’ve got all this now in Slicers! This pizza reminds me of a quality pie/slice from home… New York. I like all the kinds of pizza btw, but it’s nice to get that fix. One thing I love is the cheese. It has that springy soft quality when it cools instead of being really goopy and drippy. It’s a difficult quality to describe, but a consistency that has been hard to locate in the bay. I’m also really glad the sauce isn’t too garlicky. It isn’t overpowering, it isn’t too oily, it has the right sweetness and tastes perfect all combined. Parking is way easier on that side of Piedmont, and you might be able to sneak a spot in the next door medical office lot — after hours. A definite plus with a toddler in tow. Although not technically a legal option. Also, ready 15 minutes after I called it in! Thank you slicers, I hope you never change.

Our favorite local pizza joint. Pizza always ready for you when you walk in. Just enjoyed the spinach ricotta slice along with their signature yummy arugula salad. Have made many new friends at the sharing table. Plus they carry lemoncocco! Yum!

One of the best pizza places in Oakland. Chef and owner Colin Etezadi and his wife Lucy know what they are doing when it comes to running this pizza place. They just celebrated their 2 year anniversary with Slicer on Piedmont avenue and it is well deserved. Whether you have a hankering for a homemade sausage pizza or a sweet corn with applewood bacon pizza or just a cheese pizza, you can’t go wrong. Everything is well made, fresh, and very very good. You have to visit if you haven’t already!

Had the spicy diablo pizza and kale mushroom pizza. Both were very tasty and worth getting. I wish they made it to order sometimes though(they grab slices already made and heat them up for to go orders). I think it’s about $ 3.50 a slice. I’ll be back. Service was good and fast, cashier was nice.

Pizza is decent(however oily) but Slices are too small for price point. Also diversity would be nice once in awhile. And I consistently get the smallest slices in the pie — what’s up with that?!?

There seem to have been a spate of so-so reviews for Slicer recently. I’d like to correct that trend. Pizzas are thin crust made with fresh ingredients, and have seasonal options. I haven’t had a slice I haven’t enjoyed. Although they don’t make a big deal of it they actually always have a really good bottled beer selection in the fridge too. Their Mushroom and Dino Kale pizza is so.damn.good. I was almost tempted to give them a 5 star Unilocal review on the basis of that alone. But I’ve reined myself in. I struggle to give a 5 star review to a slice house on principle. but within the parameters of what it is(example: stools and spare décor if you eat in) there’s nothing about Slicer I don’t like. Check it out.

A great addition to Piedmont Ave. especially, with its proximity to the food-free Kona Club. I went on a Wednesday night and hardly had to wait at all. I loved all the pizza options, it was difficult to choose which slice to get. I ended up opting for the pizza topped with corn, I mean where else are you going to find a pizza that has corn on top of it? Slices were huge and very satisfying. I will be back.

You come to Slicer when you want a quick bite but not compromising on the taste. My favorites are: potato & prosciutto and the one w/the sausage. I also like their salad — especially the one w/romaine hearts, honey crisp apple, blue cheese, toasted almonds. It’s thin crust, but it’s a large slice and definitely 2 slices will hit the spot for me. Also, they have Mexican coke, which tastes way better and goes nicely with the pizzas. Definitely one of my go-to spots and then will hit up the Kona Club(across the street) after!

I’ve given these folks several tries, given that they’re in my neighborhood and I’d really LOVE for there to be an exceptional pizzeria. Unfortunately, the jury’s finally returned and the ruling isn’t great. First the good… The pizza is pretty tasty, and the ingredients seem to be pretty good. I have enjoyed the taste of the various slices I’ve tried, which ultimately is the reason I’ve returned more than once. Unfortunately, here’s the bad… The prices are just past the point of being good value for dollar. Now, given that already said I thought the quality was pretty good, that must mean that the lack of value stems from… THEREALLYPOORSERVICE!!! Before writing this review, I took a few minutes to read through a number of other patrons’ comments, and it seems pretty clear that I’m not the only person who’s less than thrilled by the people running this place. I have NEVER once been given that feeling that anyone who’s waited on me has been at all happy about my patronage or interested in having me(or anyone else I’ve watched be «helped») return. The indifference that the people working up front demonstrate towards their customers would actually be funny… if I weren’t repeatedly one of them. It’s really important that you understand that I have NEVER seen anyone treated rudely. I have also never seen or heard anything that approached INAPPROPRIATE behavior from the staff towards the customers. What I HAVE noticed EVERYTIME I’ve been in is a complete lack of professionalism or personality in terms of: * Greeting customers * Thanking customers * Making customers feel welcomed * Making customers feel appreciated Let’s be clear; I’m not expecting a red carpet to be rolled out or a brass band to play every time I walk in. But a simple«Hey there. How’s your day? What can I get for you?» would be nice. They seem to be able to do it at a lot of other great local spots(Arizmendi, dopo, Fenton’s, Little Shin Shin, etc.), but I guess these folks don’t think that’s an important part of the restaurant business. The basic«vibe» I get when I come into Slicer is that this place is owned/run by a group of «too-cool-for-you» hipsters who could really care less if I or anyone else in the joint had actually come INTO the joint. They’re not rude. They’re not mean-sprited. They’re simply, consistently, and MADDENINGLY indifferent. And at least in one case, it’s finally cost them a regular customer…

Overall, one of my favorite places for pizza now. Interestingly, not really near any foot traffic, but the slices here have a nice crust and especially great ingredients toppings. The sausage slice was perfect because it was simple and the ingredients didn’t give off a ton of moisture, so the crust stayed perfect and not soggy. The other two slices I ordered had spinach and vegetables – the toppings tasted great, but the crust was a bit soggy and impossible to pick up with your hands. Maybe I’d normally poo poo that, but the toppings really did taste delicious. The Spinach and mushrooms tasted exactly as you hope they should. It’s like New York crust married a california topping – and well, the result was worth finding parking for. I also had the romaine/apple salad – here’s a nice touch. I watched the young lady slice the apples just before giving me the salad(so the apples were not brown, and quite deliciously crisp). Here’s a tip – use your crusts to mop up the blue cheese, pecans, dressing off the salad bottom – yummy third course. There were a few operational things that seem not perfectly balanced, but I can say in the end, I loved my slices and was highly satisfied in a way that I typically am not by pizza in the Bay Area. $ 22 for two of us(including a mint limeade). It wasn’t the friendliest place in the world, but it was worth coming back to. parking in the neighborhood is pretty easy even if you have to walk half a block.

Before my dental appointment around the corner my sister and I wanted to get lunch before we got our teeth cleaned. Nothing better to get them pearly whites as dirty as possible before getting a nice deep cleaning. They have a few salads to choose from. Which all sounded good. But I wasnt that hungry to get both pizza and a salad. For my son and nephew we got them a slice of regular Cheese. I got the Sausage. I have to admit. The pizzas were kind of soggy. The Sausage was very good and flavorful but the pizza around it was just ok. I also sampled their Agua Fresca with Lemon, Basil and Mint. Super Good! Worth coming for this alone. Seating is fun for kids. You can sit at the window and people watch. Or you can sit communal style on the park picnic table style seating in the middle. If I come back again, Id ask for one of the veggie pizzas with added Sausage. Im not a vegetarian by any stretch of the imagination. Hopefully it can be done.

I’m actually a really big fan of thin crust pizza so I may be bias… Pricey? Yes, quite so. I saw the hefty price tag and thought about how I could probably get a much larger pizza with the price in question. I decided to stay because the beer pricing was rather fair. What’s a meal without a drink… Got a slice of the pancetta and squash pizza + a sausage pepperoni. Now, I enjoyed the sausage pepperoni much more because it’s safe and I’m quite carnivorous but squash pizza would not be a distant second choice. The crust was nicely crispy and it curbed the saltiness of the pancetta. Mm, delicious, I thoroughly enjoyed devouring my slice. With that sort of pricing, I wasn’t planning to get seconds though. Either way, if you’re feeling gourmet pizza, come and enjoy!

Excellent cheap spot to get pizza when you’re working or just casually passing by. All the pizzas are delicious, and the flavors change every day. I have frequented this place several times and it never disappoints. Good quality pizza and a good price, can’t beat that! Plus there is cold beer that can be purchased alongside the pizza. Even better. Definitely my go to spot whenever i happen to be in that particular neighborhood. Has a nice low key relaxed feel about it, never too crowded, not too loud. Thumbs up. Oh, and before i forget, love the thin crust. Perfect italiano. Have you ever wondered why in USA the pizza crusts are often so thick, uncrunchy and generally ick? Well not here. Perfect italiano crust. They got it right.

Honestly shocked at the positive reviews. Pizza was half-assed and not re-heated enough. Salad was bland and overpriced. To the people calling this authentic New York pizza: LOL There are 10 better places for pizza within 5 minutes, Emilia’s, Arinell, Nick’s, Hi-Life, Cheeseboard, Arizmendi, just to start.
