Tacos La Perla Taco Truck

–al pastor, steak previously fried, tasteless, a little mushy, not much meat.
came with cilantro.

–came with lime wedge, radish slices, really sour/​hot carrots

That was a huge burrito for $ 6. It was so yummy. Just hit the spot. Thought I’d write a review while my belly was still full and could still pick pieces of cilantro from my teeth. Lol… I’ll definitely be back soon. Super close to the Job. Where there isn’t much to choose from food wise.

While I was working and picking up a part at a warehouse there happen to be a taco truck nearby on poplar st. off of west grand. I wasn’t feeling too well, was feeling nauseated and didn’t feel like eating, but I bought some tacos anyways. As I took one bite BAM hit me like a yellow school bus, it was sooooo good! Jalapeño cleared up my nasal congestion and got my nose watering too. Their tacos was like every other usual taco truck of course, but at least it wasn’t dry. All in all it was good Mexican food and had ate them on the right day and also had some sprite to go with that which help my nausea haha.

Amazing fish tacos. A guy who has studio space up the street from it told me that this is the best taco truck – can’t remember if he said in Oakland or the entire East Bay. Neither would be too far-​fetched.

My favorite taco truck of the three that are near my house. I always get a tostada and something else. Their orange tomatillo salsa is my favorite salsa this side of Fruitvale! Not to be missed!

Only taco truck I know of that has sopes. That being said I haven’t tried other sopes but the ones from this truck is delicious! It gets a little busy during lunch time.

Best torta around! Just wish they were open a little longer (or maybe that’s a good thing or else I’d be there more often!).

Around! The carne asada is amazing also, But if you order a burrito be sure to ask for no lettuce! Leave that weirdness in San Francisco!!!

My go-​to lunch spot when I forget or (am too lazy) to bring/​make my lunch. It’s a block away from work. It’s cheap and good. I always order the al pastor and carnitas tacos. My co-​worker likes the sopes.
If you go around lunch time (11:45−12 noon) be prepared for a few people to be in line. They park on different sides of the street due to street cleaning on Thursdays & Fridays.

Two visits, checked out two basics: carne asada and carnitas tacos.
Nothing worth revisiting with the carnitas. Bland, chunky rather than shredded, no crispiness. Maybe it wasn’t cooked in lard?
The beef was much better. Much more flavor.
Look: the place is cheap and there’s NOTHING else around, especially on the weekend after a soccer game. The tacos are fine, nothing spectacular. Service was kinda slow… maybe they just don’t have enough traffic to keep stuff at the ready. The La Perla taco truck fills a need.

I’ve seen this taco truck (
) driving by on W. Grand and finally stopped and grabbed a couple of tacos. It’s the sister truck to Tacos La Perla #2 on 7^th St (
) which I saw drive up and park while I was there at 5:20pm. I guess I caught them right at closing time.
Anyway, they have the usual taco truck items (
) with $ 1.25 tacos, $ 5 burritos, and tortas, and $ 7 super burrito. There was a handwritten sign for breakfast burritos.
One lengua (tongue) and one pastor taco were ordered sans cilantro and the plate came with pickled jalepeno and carrots, lime wedge, and radish slices (
).
Pretty good. Double grilled corn tortillas, mild salsa, and onions. The pastor was a little fatty and had light spicy flavor. The lengua was super tender and juicy. The pickled carrots were pretty tame so don’t be afraid to dig in.
Tasty stuff. Worth a stop, if you’re buzzing by on W Grand and need a little sustenance.
