My daughter got her first brand new bike here. We loved the owner. He was super patient and put together a great bike for her. I love the aluminum frame. It is really light and cute. Jason, the owner gave us great service and the bike was ready by the end of day. She loves her new bike!

Great bike shop with a knowledgeable and friendly owner. I am not an avid biker but came in to see if they could figure out how to pump the tires on my BOB stroller. Whoever designed it made it impossible to fit a regular bike pump(which I have) onto the valve because of the design of the middle of the wheel). Very unhelpful indeed! So I went into the Laurel Cyclery being new to the ‘hood, met the shop cat, and got my tires fixed. The owner also gave me advice on what tools to get to be able to inflate the tires myself next time. Highly recommend this local business!

Good repairs, and great that they do so much customer outreach BUT when eye contact and simple communication is such a struggle — maybe some more training is in order – Very tense interaction with these guys.(And the attempt to up-sell, as I concluded an already stressful –pick-up did little to endear me to this business. The big guy grunting a comment about me during same was pretty unpleasant and unprofessional, and has prompted me to write.)

A great new addition to the Laurel neighborhood. I had friendly service, and the work was done on time. The prices are fair, too. I really love that our neighborhood has a trustworthy bike shop, with an owner who doesn’t plan to move anytime soon!

Jason was knowledgeable and kind. The shop is clean and well stocked. He provided expert service in a timely and affordable manner, ordering and installing a bike seat for our baby and giving our bike a thorough tuning without trying to overcharge for unnecessary add-ons. I highly recommend the Laurel Cyclery; we plan to make it a regular part of our family’s bike maintenance routine.

I had a pleasure of working with Jason and Andre recently. Very nice guys and accommodating. Jason was able to find and order my hard to find specific aero seatpost for my Tri bike. It was cool that Andre cut it to size for me at no charge. The shop is clean and organize. These guys are very helpful, knowlegeable and a pleasure to deal with. Highly recommended!

I’m not an avid cyclist, in fact I ride a vintage 50’s beach cruiser, so I can’t honestly tell you if they are well stocked. I can tell you that they are very friendly folks and ordered me a set of new tires for the cruiser. They also seem to be focused on nurturing a relationship with the community. They have a bike fixing area and you are free to stop in to use their tools and do a quick fix on your bike for free. This is a welcome addition to our neighborhood.

My son’s bike needed some repair on the handlebars so this was the first and last place we tried. They were friendly, gave a super reasonable price and had us out and rolling in a jiffy! A satisfied customer indeed.

When you’re on a bike ride with a friend and the hubby gets a flat — walk it on over to Laurel. Jason was very friendly and even though there were about 4 people ahead of us, he got us in and out of there pretty quick with a liner to help prevent future inner tube perforations. Quite pleased.

Looking for a good cyclery? Well you can stop your search, I found it in Oakland on MacArthur Blvd! Seriously, this is a fantastic little shop and its been very well received by the neighborhood; they were an instant success! We’ve needed a local cyclery and we couldn’t have asked for a better one than The Laurel Cyclery. I stopped in just a few days after they opened their doors for the first time and I got to be their very first tune-up. My bike is a Cannondale Prophet(a lefty mountain bike) and it has some complicated maintenance requirements, but it was no problem for Jason and Brook, they knocked it out like real pros! My bike had been unridden for about 2 years after a particularly heinous wreck while racing down Mission Peak in a hail storm(Sooo worth the injury! It was a truly exhilarating ride in an ugly storm and I was the only one on the mountain, so I got to really fly! … then I hit a tire pinching rut and … well … I really flew. Thank god those boulders were there to break my fall!). They had my bike fixed up and back on the rode in no time. They have a great selection of cruising and commuter bikes, which are ideal for Oakland riders. They have(or will be willing to get) pretty much any accessory or parts you may need as well. This is definitely a shop to watch because they do group rides(I got to attend their inaugural ride and we had great fun!) of varying difficulty to accommodate all levels of skill and experience.

As others have noted — it is really wonderful when the«local bike shop» is this local(easy walking distance from my home). Jason and Brook both know their stuff — and did a good job on some brake adjustments for my bike. They were also happy to work on an unusual bike(I ride a recumbent — but I would bet they are also good with tandems — with extended cargo bikes and bakfiets — with folders — etc.)

Love! It’s SO good to have a cycle shop in the neighborhood, and these guys are so friendly and helpful. AND — they had the exact model of Jamis bike I’d been looking at for a few years. It’s been awesome to see the commitment to being a part of the community, with open doors during the Laurel Street Fair, group rides and even events on their back patio. Thank you, Laurel Cyclery!

Thrilled that there’s a bike shop in the Laurel. I asked to just get a quick look over my bike and Jason immediately did a thorough check and found that my brakes were worn-down and loose. Goodness, I had no idea as I was riding my bike up and down hills everywhere. I was incredibly happy with the service and how attentive he was. As I rode home I noticed a huge difference with my bike. I’m a happy customer. On top of that Jason was just full of information about bikes, gear, trails, events… What an amazing resource. This is definitely my new go to bike shop!

So excited to have a local bike shop in the Laurel! Went in to get accessories for our daughter’s bike. They didn’t have much on the shelf as they’d just opened, but quickly pulled out the parts catalog to see what was available. When my antsy daughter forced me to leave before making a decision, they emailed me the same day with photos and prices of the various options. The order went smoothly and they offered their time and tools to help me install the accessories at no extra cost when they arrived.
