I’ve been hearing about this place for awhile from all of my friends and of course the Internet. Everyone seems to really like it. So, I had to check it out for myself and of course it was wonderful. They don’t allow to-go orders which is fine by me because the atmosphere inside is really cozy. The service is A+ and the food was better than expected. I got the Tofu Florentine and it had the best tasting vegan hollandaise sauce I’ve ever had. It was definitely too much food for me to handle. My partner was wise by getting only the breakfast sandwich. Great location near Bart, and the prices are very reasonable for the amount of food given. If you haven’t tried it yet, you’re missing out.

I loooooove their food and their vibe and the owners as people. My favorite vegan restaurant, I only wish they were open more so I could go there more.

My husband and I love this place. It’s warm in this place during the summer time however the food is good. Could use some more flavor on their hot sauce though it taste like water

What they are doing here is nothing short of wonderful. To provide an outrageously tasty vegan brunch(Benedict?! Florentine?!) with sides that are even too good to skip(their kale salad is delicious!!) is a rare gem! Such kind service and for even the non-herbivore it will provide the best comfort food without harming any animals. I’ve been searching for vegan comfort food that is of this caliber while being creative and not too greasy. I hope they consider opening a spot in Boston, because we sure could use it!

Loved the food; had the Bacon Benedict with potato salad; both were fresh and tasty. The avocado spread on the Benedict really was delightful, and sauce was perfect. My friend had the tofu scramble with kale and a side of fruit salad. Very nice. We also had two peach/lemon viola smoothies and they were great. Informal, friendly ambience, great service. A very friendly place.

The food was great! The place looked nice, clean and cozy! Here’s where it goes downhill. My friend requested to try out this place but warned me that the customer service can be a bit unwelcoming. My friend and I try to sit at a table that is on its way to being cleaned, we try to sit but told by the owner we have to wait until it’s clean so we step back after being warned. Before we walked in, my friend warned me, it’s like the soup nazi. I didn’t believe it, but yes it kinda was. After table is clean for 2 mins, I ask owner, is it ok if we sit now. Answer: she(worker) will seat you so we wait for the worker to seat us. Turns out it’s almost a self service place for the most part. Then why do we need someone to walk us to the table that we picked out just to hand us two menus when it’s not a full service waiting table place. A nice lady later takes our order, delivers our food but except that’s it, the service stopped unknown to us. After time passes, I’m sitting there thinking, ok when does the bill come Or when does someone check on us. It doesn’t, turns out you go to the counter and pay. Who knows but I won’t be recommending it to anyone, as a ex waitress and as a business owner myself, it felt unprofessional and unwelcoming based on the service.

I came to Two Mamma’s Vegan kitchen to try the vegan dishes and potentially initiate a break up with my ex for the third time this month. Overall pleasant experience, the service was friendly and the space was slightly sunny and not too busy when we arrived(Sunday, around 2pm). I ordered the frittata with a side salad and it was spectacular and so filling. I’m glad we made it right before they closed because we got both the lunch and brunch menus, and I honestly wanted to try several dishes. This is a great place to have a healthy meal and conversation with someone you love but need space from. Also, the parking lot across the street from Two Mamma’s is a great place to have a breakup cry and it’s really close to the Bart and several buses. I’d love to come back to Two Mamma’s when the memories of a distant love don’t haunt me because the food is truly incredible and filling.

As a traveler, I was excited to visit Two Mammas. The food and service did not disappoint. Very welcoming location with friendly staff. I had the Soy Beef Taco lunch special. It was delicious, highly recommend it. Also included in the meal was a lentil soup, which was very good. Food was served in a timely manner in spacious tables to bring families as well. My only disappointment is that I will have to wait a couple of weeks to come back and try something new off their menu. This is one of the best vegan locations I have had a meal. Highly recommended.

Two Mammas’ Vegan is one of my favorite places to eat in the Bay Area & will definitely be a regular. All vegans & vegetarians will love it yet should bring along their omnivore friends too. I love the vibe here & is laid back. When I arrived a man with dreadlocks was eating outside with his friendly pit bull across from his girlfriend. Inside there was another little dog sitting below it’s owner. Many folks had tattoos & there were a few queer couples to go along with normal looking people. The food hit the spot! I tried the«Bacon» Benedict– Organic tofu, soy bacon sautéed on English muffin with avocado topped with homemade hollandaise sauce. It was delicious & filling. I had it w/a side of potato salad that paired nicely. They use vegan, seasonal, local, & organic produce so is a great place to support. They are open 10−3pm Wed-Sun. I’ll try to come here once a week to try more of the menu.

My rating is actually between 3 and 4. I’m torn because the first few times I ate here were the best, and after that I have been disappointed a quite a few times. The first time I ate here, I had the bacon florentine, and it was divine. The hollandaise sauce was perfection. The service was friendly. I knew I would have to bring back everyone I knew because the food was sooo good. Then, three times(three times!!) I’ve tried to bring my girlfriend there, and we drive there only to find that they were closed. The first time, their hours on google said they were open on Wednesdays, and it was a Wednesday. what gives? I called and the answering machine recording said they had an unexpected emergency. Ok. The second time we tried to go, I called ahead to confirm that they are open and didn’t have another emergency. I heard the recording on the machine was back to normal with store hour and location info, no more emergency. We drive and get there at 2:50, and guess what, they’re closed. What happened to 3pm closing time that you stated on the recording? Hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh… The third time. Third time’s a charm right? Nope. We go on Wednesday and get there to find out that they have had another emergency and cut back their hours to thurs-sun. At this point I want to pull my hair out, but I feel bad for them because they are having some serious personal issues that prevent them from being fully present for their customers. I have yet to have the opportunity to bring my girlfriend here. None of this had tarnished my view of Two Mammas too badly to the point of no return. Today I went in with a friend, it was 2:15. I try to order the bacon florentine, and she says brunch is over at 2. I didn’t know that, guess we should have come earlier. All they had for lunch menu was sandwiches, which didn’t sound that great to me. They said they would have offered to make the bacon florentine but they were out of tofu. I asked if it would be possible to make a waffle, and they did, so I thought that was really nice. Throughout writing this review I’ve been changing my star rating back and forth between 3(because of all the disappointments) and 4(because I don’t want to be too harsh and I want to support this vegan business, and they made a good waffle after brunch closed), so I finally decided to go with 4.

This is a genuine mom and pop(or Mom and Ma) kind of business. Sure, there are quirks, but the food is delicious and prepared with thought and caring. I especially love the dishes prepared with almond«ricotta» such as the stuffed crepes and the lasagne. And…it’s a vegan option in Fruitvale. Need I say more?

Visited Cali for the first time, I’m from CT so I’m familiar with CT, NY, and Massachusetts vegan restaurants. This was definitely one of the best dishes I’ve had overall. I had the bacon Benedict. The dish was so hearty and filling, and the hollandaise sauce was delicious. I wish I was able to try more of their food but sadly I am headed to the east coast. Definitely recommend to anyone who is around the area.

I have never tasted food so delicious it made me question every dish I’ve ever created, and why it failed to compare. Service was incredibly friendly, and food was fresh and high quality. I also enjoyed the atmosphere, but it wasn’t busy while we were here. I could see it getting crowded. Highly recommend!

I finally made it to Two Mamma’s this past Saturday and I’m LIVID that I didn’t come sooner. The food was FANTASTIC! I had the Mushroom Florentine special: a split, toasted English muffin layered with lots of avocado, sliced tomatoes, vegan bacon, sautéed mushrooms and smothered with vegan hollandaise sauce. Seriously, it was great. Not just«great for vegan» but great period. Even the side salad(there was a choice of two) was wonderful: kale and grape tomato caesar. Absolutely mouthwatering! And Peerless Coffee — an Oakland original! I loved it so much I decided to go back again the next day but — as others have noted — they had closed early because they ran out of food. :(I chalk this up to their«no waste» policy and, while my stomach wasn’t happy, I understand it. I’ll be going again this coming Saturday. But I’m going early!

I used to be vegan for years. Back then we didn’t have places like this in the Bay Area. Now I eat meat with a vengeance. I digress, but… The food is fantastic. The portions are huge. Your taste buds will dance. You will get fat. You will be happy.

Fantastic! It’s a quaint little joint near fruitvale Bart. Vegan or not you should definitely come and try this place out. I got the potatoes florentine and it was delicious! Avocado, mushrooms, tomatoes oh my. I got the kale salad on the side and I was wowed because I’m very picky when it comes to kale. The atmosphere was great too. The staff were kind and friendly. You could tell they take pride in what they do. Lovely place, going to be coming back a lot!

Sorry to see that Café Gratitude is going out of business. However, this place is likely to capture most of the local vegan crowd. We don’t make it out to Oakland, CA very often. So this place seemed like a great new opportunity based on the reviews from Unilocal. When we got off the highway and got close to the café we were tempted to just keep driving. The neighborhood here is really sketchy. When we drove up I asked my friend if she wanted to eat here. She said«no», let’s go. This would have been a big mistake. I encourage you to give this place a try. The neighborhood and street this café is on was a little better so we parked and approached with caution. If it weren’t for Unilocal we would have never have stopped. We would have run! When we entered the café it appeared to be clean and well ordered. The people were friendly, and we were quickly seated and serviced. This could well be one of the best breakfast and brunch places in Northern, CA. I look at it on the bright side. The location helps to keep the prices here very reasonable. We ordered the eggs Florentine, the gluten-free pancakes, and the cocoa almond milk, The food was clean, well-prepared and not having extra added ingredients such as salts, sugars, caffeine etc. Outstanding and healthy! Now, a word about the customers. This is a hardcore vegan crowd very similar to Café Gratitude. Expect to see lots of alternative lifestyle people, tattoos, body piercing and more. I can’t understand why all the weird people like the healthy food and the normal people like the weird and non-healthy food. Isn’t that funny? If you go here also don’t forget the muffins and other goodies. Also, there really are two mammas that run this place. They are really friendly and make your experience of eating out as good or better than eating at home. In summary, another 4.5 star place limited only by the décor. However, I had to give them the 5 star since they appear to have worked hard and deserve it!

I live literally one block from here and finally went in to try it. OHMYLORDDDITSSOOGOOD! I went about 45 minutes before they closed and ordered a chicken salad sandwich with avocado. Oh lord that was one of the best sandwiches ive had. The bread was crunchy yet soft. The chicken salad was seasoned soo good and had an excellent texture. I even let one of my little cousins taste it and they had no idea it was vegan! He loved it! I ordered the kale salad on the side with the sandwich. It was wayy better than I expected. It had strawberries and sliced almonds and a bunch of other good things! Kale can often have a very bitter taste that I actually don’t enjoy but this salad was pure kale awesomeness. I’ll definitely be returning to try the breakfast
