West Oakland Health Center

All I can really say is it SUCKS! Avoid like the plague. Love my Dr., but wish he wernt here. Sonni is really nice and helpful, they need to clone her.

I called this clinic last week, left two messages, and now a week later and still no return call. Does anyone care at this clinic?

Not sure why their site says you can get in the same day. The earliest they could get me in was a month later. Considering this was keeping me from working, I don’t think I can wait a month. Waste of time.

I am in an interesting position – I am in the process of getting a job, but currently have no healthcare. I live a short walk from this clinic and since my new employer required I have a current TB test, I had to come here.
The clinic is across the street from a liquor store, a few blocks from the Acorn village and west Oakland BART. This area is also my home.
I was honored to have been seen by the staff at WOHC. I cannot imagine the amount of work that they must do in one day and applaud them. This community is vastly underserved and sure could use an economic boost, especially the clinic.
All that said, no matter how frustrated or overworked, every employee that I came in contact with showed me a smile and I appreciated that.
If you are thinking of seeking services my advice is call ahead to verify if you can drop in and be prepared to wait. There are plenty of others wanting medical attention as well.

This place holds a special place in my hear… my ped is based out of there… Dr. Woods.
This clinic has been around I believe since the 70’s. The doctors usually stay a good amount of time there… not a high turn over in doctors. Medical records is horrible. The staff can be a gamble as far as customer service. Some are super stars and others should be working some place where they don’t deal with the public.
I think the place tends to get some rift-​raft but that’s because of the area it’s in…
I wish they offered more community services… or maybe they do and I just don’t know about them.
