I brought my 2 dogs to the beach in ocean city and almost immediately was kicked out by a life guard telling me that no dogs are allowed on the beach until October. Well I drove a half hour to let them play in the sand and water so I wasn’t about to be defeated. Unilocaled a dog friendly restaurant and found Mackeys! They instantly welcomed us to the patio where they served each of my dogs a bucket of ice water. The patio was so relaxing and right on the water, which they were more than happy to let my doggies frolick through! They even had a doggie menu! I only got a beer and a salad so I’m not sure how the food really is but I will definitely be back based on the atmosphere and service.

Having been to Macky’s for drinks now and then, we came across Macky’s for breakfast on a Sunday morning in August. A large sign from the main strip advertising«Sunday Brunch» beckoned us. Interestingly, it was the only place we came across that had less than a ½ hour wait. It did not take us long to figure out why. We entered the restaurant with my parents who are 70 years old, and we requested a table for the 7 of us. We asked for one of the 2 larger tables in the shade, but we were told that we could not sit at those tables because they were for«parties of 10.» Mind you, there were maybe 10 people in the entire restaurant, so the likelihood of 1 party of 10 was infinitesimal. After looking for a place for Sunday breakfast for about 30 minutes, we were in dire need of coffee. Unfortunately, they were out of coffee cups. Yes, a large sign advertising brunch, but not enough coffee cups for the few stragglers that walk in the door. We elected for iced tea rather than drink our coffee out of a beer mug. Then, we got the breakfast menu. Expecting classics like eggs benedict or pancakes, we found an interesting menu of 5 items, none of which seemed at all appetizing. One of which was that classic omelet with steak curry which gave me a stomach ache thinking about the combination. The kids went with the stuffed french toast, which looked awful but was actually OK. I went safe with a BLT which was also OK. Overall, Macky’s is a good spot to put your feet in the sand and grab a quick drink. Don’t fall for the breakfast signs though — if you do, make sure you stop at Dunkin first!

My favorite place in Ocean City! Macky’s is the best. After going to Fager’s Island a couple times, we realized the real scene is at Macky’s. MUCH better food, service, and a cooler, livelier scene. Even at 11am, the place had lively energy and everyone always had a drink in their hand. My favorite part is that the tables are literally down in the sand, so you really feel like you’re never leaving the beach. People are walking around in their suits and coverups. It’s great. We enjoyed a lovely sunset dinner and many happy hours here. Can’t wait to come back!

Location is fantastic. There just aren’t that many great places you can go by boat to have a decent meal. However, the food is very middle of the road at best. And while the happy hour drink specials ok, Macky’s may have hands down some of the worst service in OC. On this last trip, our waitress took 30 minutes to bring hot sauce, by which time we were already done eating. She forgot drink orders and never followed up to see how we were doing. Not great service, but not entirely unexpected. And then, when walking out of the joint today, I placed an empty plastic glass on a tray sitting on a stand near the server bar. There are no obvious trash cans set up anywhere. A completely different, yet utterly snarky server asked, «Need a trash can?» I replied quite harmlessly, «Why yes I do». The only obvious trash cans are actually behind the bar, and I quite frankly didn’t think it was my place to walk back there and throw out a cup. The server then responded, «Don’t worry, I can throw that away for you.» I politely walked away saying«Thank you» but thinking … isn’t that part of what a server is paid to do? Also thinking, «Sorry Macky’s, that was probably my last visit.»

What a misteak comming here… as your being seated(and we were seated upstairs andca party of 7) the waitresses zoomed by you almost hitting you. Now for the food… i had the antipasto… it was good. my son and a cousin had the eggplant parm dinner… im not sure where they learned hiw to make it but… its awful… its not prepared with egg wash and bread crumbs?, its RAW? Neither ate! Another had the pizza. it was ok. again clearly not knowledge in Italian cuisine. Service was par. So take your chance here?

Female manager at the hostess stand was very hospitable and welcoming. Vince the bartender was great. Great bar decoration and nice seating even diwn to the water. Happy hour specials are the best weve found on the north end, the busy crowd proved that. We got a few call drinks, mine was a tad weak so I asked for the next one on the rocks. Shrimp for happy hour is a great deal! Chicken tenders are a no go, didnt get the pizza but its a good meal for a single person. Better then Johnnys up the street by far. Well def be back

Visited Macky’s last week while vacationing in Ocean City MD. It was drizzling so we ate under cover. Place is laid out great with a small beach and awesome views of the bay. My wife and I ordered drinks(margarita and piña colada) very good. For lunch my wife just had a salad but I had the maui maui tacos(A+). My daughter had the ribs and liked them better then the actual rib joints in town. During dinner I had a couple beers, server was excellent. Loved this place. The only thing to be careful of is the price of drinks, it adds up fast, but I expected it being peak season and all. I even bought a t-shirt which I never do.

We will not come back here. The place is over rated –service was poor and food was average at best. The only reason I gave one star is to acknowledge the waitress who took our drink order during our wait. She was very friendly. Other than that, our dining experience was awful. For starters, the hostess indicated a 30 – 35 min wait for party of 9, we waited over an hour. We were seated outside and within 5 minutes smelled cigarette smoke. I went to the manager and said I’m not happy that we were placed in the smoking section, they said the outside was all smoking. I told them they should share that info in advance. They offered to change our seat but I told them no because moving us didn’t guarantee a non smoking section and moving us inside would require a further wait considering it was packed. Then for ordering — I asked if they could do a kids portion of plain pasta. The waitress was really snotty and said she didn’t know if she could do that and pushed the Mac and cheese from the kids menu instead. After telling her my kids don’t eat mac and cheese she offered to ask the manager but said I don’t know what they will charge. She took our drink order and when we were ready to order she told me she forgot to ask about the pasta. So she walked away and came back and indicating she could do a plain pasta for a child. Salads came but there was no silverware. As the waitress didn’t check in, my father in law had to seek the silverware out. There were no clean knifes and had to stand there as they washed knifes. No one came to bus our table after salads. The waitress never came back until our dinners arrived. She brought the food and we never saw her again. She was waiting on other tables and checked in w them but she couldn’t be bothered by us. She left the check and she charged us $ 10 for the small side of kids pasta. The kids menu was $ 6.50 for all entrees so the $ 10 for plain pasta seems absurd. We have had less than optimal experiences previously but decided to give it another try. After this experience we are done. MACKEY’s is not worth the wait.

Visited at 9pm on a Friday for dinner with family. The place was full. It was transitioning from the dinner crowd to the party crowd. There must have bee 3 bachelorette parties starting. We sat outside on a deck next to the bay which was very nice. The Rum Runner was fantastic! Had the stuffed shrimp and really liked it. The garlic mashed potatoes were bland. Kids liked the cheese burgers and frozen kid drinks. I really liked the location, atmosphere, and felt totally comfortable with the kids. Service from our waitress Frannie was vexcellent-fast and friendly. We will definitely come back next time in OC but maybe without the kids and stay longer.

Macky’s atmosphere is great. Get there in the evening, outside table, you’re golden. It’s beautiful. Though — here’s why three stars. You should probably only do this with a few drinks, if you’re there in the evening. Macky’s has an identity crisis in the evening. While the drinks are fun and the atmosphere light and sort of party-ish, the food is way too fake fancy. While the food is mediocre, it is clearly not local fresh seafood. It’s overpriced, the vegetables taste frozen, everything is salty. I don’t know why the menu doesn’t have more sandwiches, flat breads, things like that. You do at lunch, so just keep it! I guarantee you these ratings would go up. Bar food. C’mon, at a place I get a wristband to enter, I don’t really want to pretend that this«special» catch of the day(it’s been the same special the past two years I’ve been going to Macky’s) is superb. Because it isn’t. So stop pretending. Give me my rum bucket and let me get a messy sandwich and onion rings for heaven’s sake.

Beautiful view, good drinks, good food, good music! Where life is good! Shark attack drink and Southern BBQ dish was yummy! The menu should have more of a variety and more to choose from but other than that, it was a great experience!

So I wanted to like this place, I really did. It has a cool atmosphere and very beach themed, but that’s about where the positives end. For a table of 6 we were sat relatively easily, but inside as everything was taken outside. Starting with beers, everyone ordered their entrees but were mildly impressed. I must say though, the crab bisque was quite good! Anyway, my salad plate had a swipe of ribs sauce on the side, from another plate in our party. My iceberg salad was severely drenched in bleu cheese, but I could overlook that part. The menu was overall disappointing, and quite expensive for the ambiance. The topper of the night was the bus boy casually swinging by our table and TAKING A BEERTHATWASN’T EMPTY. And then refused to turn around when we tried to get it back. Overall, I’m disappointed and will not be returning anytime soon.

4th of July and we got a table in the dining area with no problems… now the bar and eating on the sand, there was a wait of about 25 min. The VERY friendly staff greeted us and sat us promptly. Chase(our server) greeted us and told us the specials, gave us the run down of the menu. He was so nice(like real life nice not getting a good tip nice) …we felt like we knew him. As we ate the atmosphere is fun; people are laughing, drinking having a great time. This place offers a bucket of adult libations(like a small sand bucket worth– 32 to 64 oz), if I was partying here… I would be bucket deep and dancing on the bar but this was not that type of dinner… LOL The food was great and this place is great for family, singles, couples and groups. I stopped by the gift shop on the way out and purchased a couple bracelets at a great price. We highly recommend this place.

Three stars– ONLY because of the drink options & atmosphere. Macky’s should focus on what they know & do best: nightlife/entertainment and serving drinks in buckets. Came here tonight for a late dinner(10PM-ish). The wait was only 10 minutes, so that was good. Ordered the Hummus Platter. Roasted Red Pepper Hummus was way too liquid. Sabra from any grocery store’s refrigerated section is better. Vegetables were soft, mushy-not crisp. Seemed as if they’ve been sitting out. Entrées: I don’t eat seafood. My friend does & said the Chicken Chesapeake was tasty & the lump crab meat was very fresh. Large portions. I had the Garden Vegetable Pesto Pasta. Fresh Basil was definitely not used in the«pesto.» Neither was there any Parmesan cheese added to it. Was basically just green colored olive oil with a sprinkle of pepper. My fault for ordering anything but seafood in OCMD. Don’t have high expectations for the food. Nightlife scene is excellent. The music choices and DJ were great. Bar was packed but the bartenders still handled drink orders pretty quick. Get the buckets!(A bit pricy, but they’re very strong &32oz. is enough for one person for the night.)

Bring a fly swatter! We dined inside and flies everywhere. We should have left, but we didn’t. We ordered the Ahi tuna as an appetizer and it was awful. Worst Ahi tuna I have ever tried. Save your $ 11.99! I ordered the Crab Alfredo($ 24.99). It lacked flavor. I would have preferred alfredo sauce from a jar. Total rip off. My husband ordered the crusted Grouper. The sauce helped but it was still a disappointment. We ordered my daughter the cheese pizza. It was large for a kids meal. Probably the best thing we ordered. Save your money and go somewhere else. Too many other options.

We spent Memorial Day weekend in Ocean City and decided to try out Macky’s because of their outside eating area. Beautiful views of the bay and has a beach laid back ambiance. The bad thing about eating outside however, is the bayside water scent. The water has some kind of a pungent odor. If you have a sensative nose you may want to dinw inside. Also when dining outside and it’s windy, sand will get in your eyes and possibly on your food and drinks. But if you love that beach ambiance, who cares about the odor and the sand. Our entrees were pretty good and the service was pretty decent as well.

Chicken Tenders 3* Caesar Salad 2.5*(Needs way more dressing) Jerk Chicken 2* Service was excellent considering how crowded they were(Friday night on memorial day weekend). I’m not going to get into the atmosphere of this place during this holiday… but let me warn you, this place is full of sloppy drunks. So if that’s not your thing, avoid it during Memorial Day Weekend.

I came here a few times over MDW. I came for dinner on Friday with 5 friends and we sat outside(with a lovely view!). I also came for dinner on Saturday and sat inside(since it was cold) and then stayed after to drink at the bar. I would come back here for dinner or for drinks if I were in OCMD again. It gets super crowded over MDW though, which pretty much all the good bars do once it hits 8pm. RESTAURANTOVERVIEW: –There are a ton of tables outside in the sand with palm trees and a great view of the bay –Inside they have tables in the back with windows looking out to the bay –They have a long rectangular bar in the center of the main inside room — the bar gets really packed at night with a long line outside, BUT I was also there for MDW so I’m sure it’s MUCH different on the reg –Beachy, casual vibe APPS: –We started with the Jerk Chicken skewers — they were so yummy! It came with a pineapple salsa, which was great to dip in –We got the Hummus Platter, which came with an assortment of veggies and grilled pita to dip in the tzatziki sauce, roasted red pepper hummus, and Kalamata olive tapenade — very good as well! –We also got the Crab Dip, which came in a sourdough bread bowl and had tortilla chips on the side. This was really fresh! DINNER: –I got the Garden Veggie Pasta the first time, which was so delicious! Veggies and basil pesto? So in –The 2nd night I got the Tuscan Chicken pasta, which was equally as good. This came with a creamy sauce and good add-ins like bacon –The rest of the group got a variety of seafood options and really liked them all. I don’t think you can go wrong with any of the seafood options DRINKS: –We split the Ruby Red Bucket, which was a *bit* sweet for our liking, but we still drank it and enjoyed it — I just don’t think I could do 2 of these –We also got the Crushed Bucket and asked our waiter if there was a way to make it less sweet since the Ruby Red was really sweet. She said she would use soda water instead of Sprite, and this did the trick! *Definitely ask for soda water instead of Sprite if you aren’t a fan of sweet drinks! SERVICE: –No complaints!

After hearing that there was a 3 hour wait to get into Seacrets we decided to try this place. There was also a long line to get in but at least it wasn’t 3 hours. Since we were coming to eat apart from drinking we were let in faster and given a table outside. I have to say our waiter was very attentive and on top of things. We got the bucket drinks which always seem like a good idea but the drinks are never super strong and way too much ice. We started with a few appetizers which were good, crab pizza, crab cake and steamed shrimp. However the entrees were not good and lacked a lot of flavor. My least favorite thing here apart from the food was that its a beach party but there was no music. I feel that in this type of environment they should have a DJ or at least some music since it will make things more lively.
