The building is under renovation so the restaurant was absolutely freezing. My family and I went during off peak hours for dinner. There were about 4 or 5 people besides my family and the service took ridiculously long. The food was garbage. The menu has about 5 ingredients that are recycled into about 20 different dishes. The soup was fine but it tasted nothing like clam chowder. And I had to send back my steak because it was well done when I asked for medium rare. After the waiter took it back to the kitchen he returned saying that the cook asked if it was overdone or undercooked. If u can’t cook a steak why are you working at a restaurant? The waiter was kind but slow. Overall, one of the most mediocre restaurants I’ve been too in Oceanside.

Nothing jolly at this tourist trap, confront your mortality at this sticky, quantity over quality feeding frenzy. Walker or wheelchair required. THEDIGS: Leaving heavily on its proximity to the water, the restaurant had your typical kitchy waterfront restaurant décor. Wall to wall seating, it’s designed to turn over as many dinners as possible as fast as possible. Everything was sticky, tables were left unbussed, and water glasses came to the table smudged and dirty. I’ve eaten in more than my fair share of greasy spoons, but rarely felt uncomfortable eating their food. This place made me worried about salmonella. THEFOOD: We arrived for the weekend buffet, a grab bag of low quality cuisine spanning breakfast, lunch, dinner and americanized international food. Want 12 stale donuts, 1lb of beef cuts, and greasy Chinese beef and broccoli for breakfast? This place is the right place for you. Prepare to pile your plate high, only to pick at it and leave uneaten in search of other dishes to be disappointed by. INSUMMARY: Bubby may like the view, but there has got to be a better place to take her then this dump.

Would give negative one star if I could. The meal started off well enough with our appetizers. Our first moment of disgust was that our kids ordered Shirley temples and one the drink the waiter brought over had a cherry missing because he said it had fallen on the floor. Then walked by and with his bare hands carried a cherry over and just plopped it into her drink… Ew! Then our actual dinner arrived, just to find that my daughter’s pizza, when turned over was covered in mold… And that was after the fact fact that they brought my and my husbands meal about 10 minutes before my 3 kids. Thank GOD my daughter just so happened to drop the small slice of pizza that she was holding for it to turn upside down. The whole entire thing was mold covered, even the waitress I flagged down to notify acted horrified, no manager came out to apologize or anything, they just asked my daughter what else she wanted and told us they wouldn’t charge us for her $ 5.50 meal… Then here’s the best… Wait for it… After paying our bill we start walking out of the restaurant and in doing so pass the kitchen to find the waiter that was carrying the cherry to our other daughters drink… Picking his flipping nose!!! EEEEEEEEW!!! I can assure you I will NOT be returning here. Just to add, we were never rude, never are to people that are serving our food, and never would be so I definitely know this wasn’t something done out of spite(not that that would justify it) but still… BLECH!!! Unless you want burger mild filled food and drinks DONOTGOHERE!!!

As usual, under staffing issues caused many problems. I’ve been bringing my elderly mother here for awhile because she likes the view. However, the food is not that good, carpet is snagged, chair handles are full of grime, my food was undercooked so I couldn’t eat it after waiting 45 minutes for it to arrive. Fruit add on was not brought to me, then went to wrong table. No water refill. Two stars are for view and manager’s apology.

The bathroom was filthy. The kitchen was messy and dirty. I had to send my food back because my fish smelled bad. I ended up having soup for dinner. The waitress Alie, was beyond professional, friendly and all around awesome. We were the only ones in the place. The view is pretty of the harbor, but the prices are high for the food they serve. Won’t be returning.

Not from California so I’m not sure how to compare this place but for me and my family is was a decent place to get good food. The view is nice and the food is above average for me! The service was good. The clam chowder was soooo good! The calamari very good! Overall everything was enjoyable! Pricing decent.

The location of this restaurant is great, right on the Harbor! The restaurant itself appeared older and out of date. The menu was under whelming and in my opinion a bit boring. The food was okay. We had fish tacos and fish and chips. Being so close to the ocean I was hoping for better fish. What we got was more of a block looking piece of fish. It tasted good but it wasn’t amazing. The prices are high for what you get(at least for what we got). Not sure we would return in the future.

Took my kids to dinner on valentine’s day evening. Service was absolutely horrible. Had to ask our server for everything… flatware, napkins, etc. Had to remind her about food that was ordered but not delivered. Asked to order desserts to go but only got half of the order. Food was at best, mediocre. Tasted like TV dinners. Mark this one off of our restaurants to revisit.

JR’s has The BESTFISHANDCHIPS! YUMYUM Well maybe its a tie with Harbor Fish and Chips across the harbor. I wished they’d get going on the remodel we’ve heard about to open up the front to add outside dining? If they had outside dining this place would be packed! There is an upstairs with great views of the harbor. I’ve heard the happy hour is great too!

We were enjoying the beautiful summer-like weather in the harbor and needed somewhere to go for dinner. We tried the Jolly Roger and were pleasantly surprised! The food was good and a good value. The ambiance could be better, but overall a good experience.

I am only giving the 1 star because the staff was very nice and courteous. I feel really bad for them wirking in such a bad resturant. The food is mediocre at best. The seats of the booth are cracked and have tape over the holes. The resturant is just tired, old and dirty. Whatever company owns Jolly Roger should put some money into their resturants.

Happy hour is cheap and descent– $ 3-$ 5 menu items. The view here is lovely– main reason to come here. I don’t particularly care for dining here, which I have, as food is mediocre.

Service was great, food excellent. Décor a little tired but comfortable. Missed the great view as dinner time in December is dark outside. Temperature was cold and drafty on a cold night. Grilled mahi mahi tacos were served hot, flavorful and without the salsa as requested. Burger and fries were excellent

Awesome experience! The view is gorgeous, staff super friendly and the food was great! It was a bit pricey, but that was to be expected with the location. Very kid friendly with the best kids’ menu/coloring activity I’ve seen… Only a parent could understand the immense value in a preoccupied child in a restaurant. We originally had a late lunch at Jolly Roger and later that night ordered desserts to go for our hotel room. Even ordering take out was a pleasant experience!

The staff was awesome, the view was beautiful, and the food was fantastic. The managers Steve and Randy were perfect hosts. The happy hour is one of the best around. I would highly suggest this place. I brought in a bus load of people and they took care of us like clockwork. thank you Jolly Roger for making our trip perfect.

The jolly roger. Oh how you disappointed me. So being at the harbor and with the name and all i expected a good seafood menu. But i was tricked. It was a set up lol jk i walked in with my own free will. But man the menu was terrible. The décor was ok for a restaurant called«the jolly roger» lol.

We had a wonderful time dining at The Jolly Roger. We were seated in the main dining room with a window booth overlooking the marina. I ordered teriyaki steak that came with red potatoes and mixed vegetables that was delicious. My wife ordered the Orange Coconut Salmon that came with coconut rice and mixed vegetables and she said it was delicious. My daughter ordered the Kids Spaghetti with garlic toast that she really enjoyed. They have some great desserts but we were too full to eat anything else. They offer a great Happy Hour menu Mon-Sat. It brings back awesome memories of dining at the Jolly Roger when I was little with my parents at the Hawaii locations including the Kauai location in the Coconut Market Place every time that we would visit the neighbor islands. I miss diving into the treasure chest for my toy.

Went here for an early dinner. My husband wanted to treat me to a good meal for Mother’s Day. He also had a coupon from the Entertainment book which saved him some money. I ordered an iced tea to drink. For my entrée, I went with the orange salmon with coconut rice and veggies. The salmon was so flavorful. It was grilled with coconut and there was diced up mango on top which gave it a sweet and tangy flavor with the salmon. The rice was cooked with coconut. Delicious. The vegetables consisted of broccoli, carrots and zucchini. The veggies were okay. It was a little soft but was edible. I really enjoyed my orange salmon and coconut rice. The waitress was great. She refilled my iced tea when she saw my glass empty. We had a nice view from our booth. We looked out at the boats. This place reminded me of the Boat House. Same concept and boats surrounding the restaurant. Pretty nice place. I really enjoyed my dining experience here.
