There are very few food options on Camp Pendleton. Many times the choice comes down to wendy’s, a burrito, or Subway. This place provides another option. It just isn’t a good one. Spending time in Japan, I was hoping for a little Asian flavor during lunch. I have now been to Wok and Roll(3X) over the past couple years and it is consistent… bla Only come here if you are really sick of the other options. You will gladly return to your daily routine. With that being said — it is reasonably prices, they give you enough food, and the line typically isn’t that long.

After being on-post at Camp Pendleton for a week for business, I somehow managed to eat a diet that consisted solely of Coco’s Bakery, Domino’s, Johnny Rocket’s and Wendy’s due to the sheer lack of restaurant options. I was excited that there was a place that had some potential for deliciousness but Wok & Roll fell short in my book. I got the teriyaki chicken(its description presumptuously says it’s a must-try) which was bland at best. The dish consisted of chopped, dry white chicken doused in a thin brown sauce just before serving. If I’m not mistaken, doesn’t the teriyaki method of cooking mean that the meat is brushed with the sauce several times while cooking? Food for thought, Wok & Roll. It also came with a side salad and cold carrots that shared the same dressing as the salad(sesame soy). For about $ 8, probably the next cheapest meal you’ll find on post besides the Wendy’s right across the way. If you can help it, best to avoid all food on post, which seems to be a festival of fast foods. If you can venture out well past Oceanside, a wealth of delicious, authentic Japanese food awaits.

This is the only place currently you can get chinese food on base. It is always served fresh and hot with a side of a smile from the staff. This is a food truck so they are only open during lunch time hours next to the Wendys. You can’t miss it, it is bright lime green! Anyhow, What I ordered: Chicken Fried Rice under 8 bucks(you will get two eggs rolls for free and a side salad). Not bad it is no where near traditional chinese but it isn’t horrible either. I enjoy stopping here from time to time and it offers you something different for your taste buds.
