My husband loves Howard’s and it’s always a key stop when we’re in Ocracoke. I’m not sure if it’s nostalgia or that he’s a fan of the cups! (We always have a set in our kitchen). On our last visit, it just wasn’t what it used to be. One thing that I found interesting was that the kids meals were the same size as the basket options for adults. Maybe next time I should get a bigger meal!

I want to pick this restaurant up and bring it back to Richmond! My now fiancé as of this summer, our son and friends visit the Outer Banks in August every year for the past 5 years. Every visit to Ocracoke Island this is our Go-​To restaurant! This year all of our family members vacationed with us and all 20 members had amazing food and the best of service with ONLY one waitress! She was awesome and never kept us waiting to long considering the size of our party. A few favorite must have dishes in menu keep in mind we don’t eat pork or beef so mainly seafood dishes but isn’t that what you come to the beach and island for??;)

Grilled Teriyaki Tuna Sandwich (the sauce completes this! Key Lime Mustard Sauce)

I can honestly say that I have had some of the best food in the Outer Banks here. This is definitely a must stop place while on vacation! Everything is well cooked and is delicious, and the service is very quick and the staff are very friendly! I highly recommend the Carolina Classic Burger. Also, be sure to pick up a souvenir shirt before you leave!

This is the place to visit while staying in The Outer Banks! The food is fresh, the beer is cold, and the atmosphere is to die for.
When I go I always shoot an oyster, grab a dozen or so steamed clams, drink a few beers, and indulge in the fresh catch if the day, preferably blackened.
I recommend the hush puppies as an appetizer!
The boat ride may be a long wait, but it’s worth it to visit this little beach town and this delicious restaurant! I visit it every time I go on vacation!

Was totally blown away by the awesome food. Best cole slaw I’ve ever had at a restaurant. Fried oysters were just an explosion of deliciousness. Everything perfectly cooked; the crab cake was the only thing that I had that could of been cooked a bit more, it was a little too mushy for me.
Now the restaurant itself is very comfortable. With indoor and outdoor seating selection, boothes and tables to choose from, nice old oaky feel like that of an old refurbished pirate ship, this establishment really delivers on the local Ocracoke feel you are looking for. 5 stars all the way.

This was my first time here and I’m so impressed! Mike was such an attentive and personable server. My phone was about to die and he tracked down a charger for me. Despite waiting on a 9-​top, he checked on us frequently.
Now. The food. Oh. My. God. We ordered the crab legs, the mussels and the oysters Rockefeller for apps. It was all amazing and I tried my first oyster with Howard’s. It was a hit. We loved the mussels so much we ordered a second dozen. Then we all ordered the Caesar salads with broiled scallops and the scallops were cooked to perfection. All in all a spectacular experience. We will be back!

Veg Friendly!
I’m vegan and it’s so nice to see places at the beach that aren’t all seafood. I was able to get a «P.E.T.A. Burger» as they called it and my daughter got the hummus plate which came with carrots and celery (pita bread optional for $ 2 extra). The hummus was actually very good too! Staff was super friendly and the local draft beer choice was excellent. I enjoy trying local brews and they certainly were able to suggest one I liked. The top deck is also a great place to take a good look at the island.
