Carrow’s Family Restaurant

I walked in a week ago and now I am friends with everyone. Candy is a friendly happy woman with the knack for detail and keeping your coffee cup full of hot delicious brew. I tried recruiting her to move back east but somehow the idea of 15 degrees and a foot of snow is not as nice as the Ojai sun. Bring your whole family in and enjoy!

Stopped here today because we wanted breakfast in the afternoon and most places seem to close at 2pm. We ordered the potato pancake breakfast and it was delish! Also had the veggie omelette which was very good. They have a good waffle and coffee too!

Went early afternoon for breakfast/​lunch. Food was tasty, everything was correct, service was quick and friendly. We will be back again.

We went late at night so there wasn’t much still open.
We all got breakfast meals which were all very good. Not huge serving for the price but good nonetheless.
My one qualm was the service… I ordered the Country French toast which comes with bacon, ham and sausage… The server, who was a team leader, asked what kind of meat I wanted and said that the menu was a confusing read. I said that the menu said we got all three… which he said no, it didnt. So, I showed him the menu and exactly what it said, before he realized what I was ordering. Kind of an awkward and stressful situation.
The strawberry lemonade was ‘berry’ good.

good food and service for the prices. service was above average and friendly. will continue to visit for lunch at least every week

If you have to eat anywhere in Ojai. Find anywhere other then this Carrows. This places food is the nastiest most tasteless food. I came here ordering my normal fried chicken salad. Well to my surprise it was RAW and I mean raw. I’m pretty sure I could still hear the chicken cluck. Our waitress didn’t seem to care. Had to pay full price for my raw chicken salad. So I didn’t go back for a few months. Went back last night, ordered the active and lively multigrain pancakes combo. So horrible. My eggs where ice cold, my turkey sausage tasted like it had been sitting out for hours. I will not be back.

We went here because everything else in town was closed and Carrows was still open. Our waitress was very friendly and my veggie burger was delightful. The bun was soft and the flavor was good. My dining partner had a club sandwich which he described as good enough. I can attest that the fries were made to perfection as I ate almost all of them off of his plate! :-) I would visit this Carrows again. They do a lot of after church business but at night they are pretty empty. After a family of 4 left early during our dining experience, we had the whole place to ourselves.

Carrow’s recently started a limited time KIDS EAT FREE promotion, and it’s EVERY DAY after 4pm! Buy 1 adult entrée, get 1 kids meal free, with drink! (Hey, I got a Unilocal list! Now everything that says «kids eat free» pops out at me, LOL!) After being entertained at the 2013 Ojai Film Festival, we had the evening munchies, and as luck would have it, Carrow’s has got a spot right in downtown Ojai. We walk in to an old school kinda diner. No one to greet us but a lass chowing down @ the bar with a full mouth, I think says, «Go ahead and sit anywhere.» Well alright then. A different lady meets us @ our table selection. Not so happy, but helpful nonetheless. We order a few things from the menu…
*A & L TUSCAN COD PLATE ($ 9.49): Decent meal with a good portion of cod that is prepared with a nice taste to it, topped with a fresh tomato mixture that complements well. The Caesar salad is an ample size and has good flavor.
*CHICKEN FRIED STEAK DINNER ($ 9.69): TWO pieces served with dinner! Crispy shell and tender meat… can’t complain about that. Steamed veggies were warm & crunchy. Lots of fries on the plate. This is one hearty dinner!
*KID’S PANCAKE PILEUP ($ 3.99): Simply, 6 mini pancakes with syrup & butter. Little one enjoyed it. Able to finish 3 out of 6.
*KID’S BURLY BURGER (free!): Pretty good sized kid burger that the little man enjoyed. No complaints from that mouth!
*KID’S CHICKEN STRIPS (free!): 3 good sized breaded strips that are tender & cooked just right. Chose rice as the side, but it’s rice pilaf, so not the kind of rice my lil Asian is use to. Chicken strips disappeared though.
Average fare here. Service was attentive. Nothing to complain about. Everything was A — OK.

We were visiting and happened to stop at Carrows for breakfast. Our server Candace was extremely warm and friendly. She was the only server there but she was very attentive and quick. The food was delicious too. We plan on going back a few times before we leave.

Very good family restaurant. Standard American food. Bathrooms could use some work. Healthy options are few and far between but you wouldn’t need it anyway if you are the type of people who come here in the first place. Yet it has become a tradition for our end of the family to always come here on our visits up to grandmother’s.

Great for breakfast. Awesome service, real pros. My favorites are Candy and Cindy. Food is a real value. I like to come here because they are nice and welcoming, and yet leave me alone to read my paper without making me feel ignored. Side note, they have fresh-​baked pies around holiday time that are fantastic.
Also, a take-​out box lunch menu that is much better than fast-​food, yet at $ 6.99 it is cheaper. I like the ceasar chicken wrap.

LAST RESORT restaurant if everything else in Ojai is closed. Being local I haven’t been there one time where something was wrong.
